Breaking Bad on AMC (1 Viewer)

Greenwald's recent podcast from Grantland has some good BB talk. They were talking about numerous instances of threats to Lydia's daughter and how she asked Walt if he had kids. That and Skylar's emphasis on protecting the kids all foreshadow bad things coming for the kids.
:popcorn: at Flynn getting tortured/murked {Chewbacca roar}

Walt comes up with some devious plan to kill Skylar. Things don't go completely according to plan and Flynn is killed as well/instead.

Man I still can't get the last show out of my head. Ever since becoming a father any time a movie/show has something happen to a child it crushes me. When Jessie's girl's kid was poisoned and then pulled through it I was like 'whew, at least they aren't crossing the line of having kids die'. Then this past show they destroyed the line. They have truly broken bad all the way. Powerful stuff.
We don't know for sure that the kid is dead. Could make for a really intense episode this week if he isn't.
I thought it showed on the previews them burying him
I have terrible gas today.
Have you tried Beano?

It goes to the brilliance of this show that they're rolling out Landry's character this way, where we see him "invest" in the gang before we really know any of his backstory. Just brilliant stuff. And I'm sure his path is going to be one that's going to make sense, but won't be at all predictable.

My guess is that he was buried alive, digs his way out and comes back with a vengeance
HOLY ####! ZOMBIES!!!!! I can see the Walking Dead crossover now BRILLIANT!!!!

Todd. It's like referring to Jay Pritchett as Al Bundy.

Sort of. Everyone knows who Al Bundy is. I don't know wtf Landry is/was.

That's kinda the point. From what I hear it was a good show, but nobody watched Friday Night Lights.

I probably should. Still doesn't change the fact that this Landry character is not recognizable to most people, and nowhere near as much as freakin Al Bundy. Anyway I think we've probably devoted enough time to this, I'll shut up now.

There are 3 pages of posts with the word Landry in them IN THIS VERY THREAD!

I now know the name of exactly one character on Friday Night Lights.

However this is a Breaking Bad thread. Walt asked the dude his name two different times and he said "Todd" both times.

weird how actors can play multiple roles, but they can only be "best known" for one.

When the show started, Cranston was best known as "Hal" but we still called him "Walt". After this season Jesse Lon Plemons might be best known as "Todd" from Breaking Bad.

doubtful.half a season of a show isn't enough to outweigh 5 seasons.maybe if it was Jason Street or Billy Riggins or something.

but now he's best known as Walter White hence the reason we call him "Walt"

You do realize that the question is not about what the actor is best-known for...it's about whether his other character was known at all by more than a handful of you. An actor may be "best known" for playing an alien from Saturn in a B movie from 1977, but that doesn't mean everyone knows who he is.In a Breaking Bad thread, do you honestly think more people know this no-name actor more for playing the character ON THIS SHOW or the character from a show that is currently off the air and never had very many viewers? So much for me shutting up...

Jesus Christ. #### and stop whining about people referring to Todd as Landry. It's not an obscure reference. I know this may be hard to fathom, but the world does not revolve around you. It doesn't stop spinning when you go to sleep at night. Just because YOU don't know one thing in the world doesn't mean that there aren't a whole lot of other people that do know that one thing.

HTH.

Nobody saw FNL? Well it was on network television for five seasons and Kyle Chandler won the best lead actor in a drama Emmy last year for it, so at least somebody was watching.

ETA: In fact, the first two seasons had double the ratings that BB has right now. And considering the center of the show is a high school football program, it stands to reason that people here might have seen the show.

Wow. Good thing you're not overreacting.

I'd take that over petty and uninformed.

 Between SpoilerGate and LandryGedon this thread has been completely derailed.

We went through a whole season of 24 where people referred to some chick as Starbuck. I didn't care then, and I don't care now. I honestly couldn't care less what actors are called. I don't know how it was assumed that I have a problem with it. It's been done in this thread since his first appearance on the show and I never said anything until Mentos questioned who people were talking about. My only original point was that Landry's cultural icon status is not equivalent to Ed O'Neill. If you disagree with that, cool. Sorry for wasting everyone's time.

Now can we get back to talking about the best show on television?

:shrug:Never saw it. The Landry jokes had me :shuked: at first, but just rolled with it.Why should Walt/Jesse care if Mike quits? Distribution? They have the methylene and won't be making their legacy payments. Although I could see that biting them in the ###. Mike just needs to become a silent partner and let Saul and his guys be the ones who makes the payments to people. Mike doesn't need to physically do anything right now really.

My only original point was that Landry's cultural icon status is not equivalent to Ed O'Neill.
Take it up with MT. He made that comparison. I think he was referring to the concept though and not actually trying to equate the two.

Landry?
Not really sure why he (Todd) is referred to as Landry in this thread either, other than to cause confusion. We don't refer to Walter as Hal...
because Cranston is best known as playing Walt now and a lead in Breaking Bad.Jesse Plemons has had about 10 minutes of screen time in this show so far but was a main character for 5 seasons in Friday Night Lights.

Doubt it.They'd be Street and Billy Riggins to me. I saw Billy in something recently. I don't remember what it was, but I remember I saw Billy.

Funny, when Season 4 of FNL started, I had a buddy that asked me, why are you calling that guy (Vince) "Wallace"? To which I responded, "Where the #### is Wallace at?!" That didn't clear it up for him. Weird.

"Wallace" was pretty good in "Parenthood" too. He's going to have a great career.

I have a great idea, why don't we just refer to every major/new charactor on BB to their most previous role. That will really turn this thread into a :tfp:

Are you guys talking about Billy Riggins or Tim Riggins? Tim is all over the place now, and was just the lead in what might be the biggest failure in the history of film.

This isn't very complicated and need not cause any anger.

Landry is Landry and that's that. It might be mildly annoying for those that haven't seen FNL, but for those that have, he's just Landry and they know why. Some folks put up with a little annoyance and in return, we will happily clarify who Landry is for as long as the question gets asked.

Also, we won't say stupid things like "How do you not know who Landry is?". (though, of course, we'll strongly recommend you watch FNL)

Just please don't ask me to call that cold-blooded child murder "Todd".
