Breaking Bad on AMC (4 Viewers)

I realize it's all subjective but I don't know how anyone can watch "Breaking Bad" and think it's an average show. It defies common sense really.
You do realize there are hundreds of people out there willing to drive across country and pay 150 bucks to get a picture with Chloe Kardashian (or whichever one is the ####tiest), right?
I was referring more to TV critics but yeah I'm aware of how little intelligence is displayed by many TV viewers.
Isn't it awesome to be smarter than most people? I love my life.
I try not to look down on people. Then there are those who love chit like the Kardashians show over something as great as Breaking Bad and it's difficult not to.

The pawn is positioned to take out the knight on the next move. The king should be fine in the corner but instead moves and sacrifices the knight.

Maybe we are reading too much in to it, but it certainly looks brilliant.

Depending on what the other pieces are on the left side of the board, there may be enough time for one of the two pawns to turn into a queen.

Huh? That black pawn is nowhere close to the King.

I think the black pawn & white knight are next to each other. Both on row 4. The black pawn is on a black square, the white knight is on a white square. The knight is not in danger from that pawn.

Right. Elsewhere On the board it looks like a black pawn is positioned to take out the knight. Moving the king instead of the knight seems to be a bad idea.

Aren't you the numbnut fawning over every episode in the Walking Dead thread?

I like that show yes. If that makes me a "numbnut" in your eyes I think I'll still manage to sleep OK tonight. Apparently, you missed the part where I said initially that it's all subjective.

"it's all subjective" only goes so far.

"Dude! Are you really going to eat that steaming dog turd? That's disgusting!"

"It's all subjective. *munch*"

I'd say it covers my point more than adequately. I never said everyone had to agree with my point of view. I simply said it's difficult for me to believe someone could think "Breaking Bad" is an average show. If you or anyone else thinks my appreciation of any other show invalidates my opinion so be it.

They did a great job with the start of that scene. The phone is sitting on the counter. She is looking at it.....oops knife.
Exactly, I couldn't decide whether she was going for the Phone to call the police or grab a knife and slit Walt's throat
I must be the only one with a problem with this scene, hear me out.

By now we know that Skylar is no innocent babe in the woods, heck didn't she a few episodes ago want Jessie dead, so she is up to her neck in it, BUT suddenly she has found her morality because of the death of Hank, and in doing so has son having to defend her against Walt - when in fact it washer who slashed him with the knife.

Screw Skylar I hope the Nazis gang-rape her.
That's why I was rooting for Walt in that scene too. I know Gilligan really wants us to empathize with Skyler but it's virtually impossible for me to do so.
Interesting, why did you cut out FSM's last line in his post?

I just never understand the Skyler hate. She has done some bad things, but Walt is the real monster here. I can't see why anyone would side with him
Skyler has ALWAYS been my least favorite character. It's perfect how in the beginning the most innocent character, the real victim, morphs into the person you can't stand. Great writing and acting. Last night was the first time in a long time when I sympathized with Skyler again. When she confronted Walt about Hank that was awesome and then not letting him off the hook for it, the most likeable thing she has done since we met her in season one.

Anna Gunn was awesome, all those dramatic scenes were perfect and we got a beautiful contrast in the first scene from the very beginning when life was simple and she was happily married to show us how far we've come. Such great contrast.
But Skylar wants it both ways, she wants the money that Walt is making but non of the risk. Walt tried to save Hank, but Sky would not listen - instead tried to stab him with a knife. Walt is not innocent at all but Sky is not guiltless and at least should have tried to listen to him.

Good point, especially the bolded. I also thought it was a rather curious time for Skyler to grow a pair of morals.

oh yeah. misread knight as king in your post at first I think.

Don't all women?

Isn't the Knight on a white square next to the pawn, and not on the diagonal black?

I think there's an optical illusion and that the knight is on a white square in the 5th row and the black pawn a black square in the 5th row. They are next to each other.

ok wait a second, I just don't get the chess board, and how this makes the show "brilliant". I mean, yes, the show is brilliant....But I think people are grasping at straws at this point.

I think its more clever than brilliant (the chess thing, not the show. The show is brilliant).

Even if she gets an immunity deal, she can't testify about anything her husband told her without his consent. And in most states she couldn't testify about anything Walt did absent the assault charge. Maybe some of the conspiracy to launder money, though you run into issues with attorney privilege (Saul) there.
Huh?
Skyler can testify against Walt on the charge that Walt hit Skyler. She can't testify against Walt on charges that Walt did stuff to people who aren't Skyler.
Why not?
Spousal privilege.

First, to clarify, she could testify to stuff she saw Walt do if she wanted to testify. But she couldn't be forced to testify. A person cannot be forced to testify against his or her spouse in a criminal matter.

Assuming she wanted to testify, she could not testify about anything that Walt told her. She could testify only to stuff that she has independent knowledge of.

But almost everything truly incriminating that she knows on the most serious charges, she knows only because Walt told her stuff.
I'd offer that money laundering and tax evasion are pretty significant.
Sure, but in comparison to running the largest meth distribution in the SW, 9 jailhouse murders, gunning down 2 DEA agents, bombing of a retirement home, poisoning of a child, destruction of a police evidence locker, and a slew of other murders, those charges are minor.

Yeah, but did he really do anything illegal?

They got Capone on tax evasion. He didn't think it was a minor thing.

I miss the years 2008-2011 before everyone jumped on the bandwagon and blew up this thread with a bunch of useless info and theories. Folks asking about Ted being the Soprano Russian? lol...come on, son. Do you watch the show? connect the f'n dots.

He's been paying taxes on everything he's laundered. The only witnesses that have seen the rest of the money are Skylar, Saul and his goons, Lydia, the Nazis and kinda Jesse. Those last two aren't talking, Saul and his goons will claim attorney client, no one in law enforcement knows about Lydia. That leaves Skylar again as a lone witness.

Now, Skylar can walk the police through her money laundering, but she did create a paper trail from the ground up and Saul provided a paper trail for the startup capital. She seemed a smart enough book keeper to not have left an obvious pattern, which again really just leaves her testimony.

Really, they'd need to flip Saul at this point and he seems scared ####less of Walt.
