One of my favorite moments was when Walt finally met Gus at Los Pollos Hermanos. Great tension build and then you realize the mastermind of this operation is a :nerd:

Walt running over the two drug dealers and executing the one that lived left me completely and totally dumbstruck.
This was my answer as well. It was hard to pick just one so I went with the first one that really stood out. Prior to this I dont believe WW did anything to show what lengths he would go. After this moment there were many shocking moments but they all now had a precedent.

I went with Walt watches Jane die. The other deaths he was involved in were pretty much scumbags really. Jane was an innocent and it showed what lengths he would go to in order to get what he wanted.

"An innocent" is a bit strong. She didn't deserve to die, but she did blackmail Walt into giving Jesse his share of the loot.

The writing on BB was amazing. He didn't actually kill Jane, he just didn't save her. And she was a big thorn in his plan. They did such a slow build of Walt becoming evil that you can almost sympathize with a lot of the decisions he made until somewhere around season 3 you realize this guy has become a complete monster.

See, I don't think they ever really made him a "complete monster" like some have said. Sure, he did some really terrible things (like poisoning Brock), but he did always go out of his way to keep Hank out of harm's way; a total monster wouldn't have done that.

Walt did what benifitted Walt, period. He mislead Hank to preserve his lie, he bugged Hank's office, he got Hank shot... . He also kidnappped his own son, lied ot his wife, allowed his wife to take on his crimes, killed people, allowed Jane to die while watching, poisened Brock and as a piece de resistance dragged Jessie thorugh hell just to suit his desires. Walt didn't care about other people if that caring got in the way of his plans of self-grandeur. For my money that makes him a monster, or as I referred to him often a flecking *******.

he ran a massive operations selling one of the worst drugs in the world, he killed people with his car, a gun, a bicycle lock, and ordered the deaths of countless others. he took the body of an innocent kid who his partner had shot and dropped it in a vat of acid to dissolve all the evidence so nobody would ever know what happened to a missing child. he kidnapped his own baby while bleeding from a knife fight with his wife. he put a bomb in a nursing home, he blew up a small building where tuco lived, shot up another building with a machine gun, and watched his friend's girlfriend choke to death on her own vomit without helping her. he ordered his own friend's death, but stopped them long enough to tell him that he had watched jane die. when he realized his indirect role in the crash of two airliners over the city, he told an auditorium filled with his students that it wasn't so bad because this wasn't even a top five air traffic death.

but somehow, him giving some berries to a kid that gave him a tummy ache. that's him being a monster? not even top 5.

Walt trashed, then burned up the little red Challenger, I cringed at the carnage.

Todd shooting the kid was a jaw dropping scene.

What seriously drives me crazy about the show is he has sooooo much money, he doesn't know what to do with it. Hey, I got an idea, HIRE SOME ####### PROTECTION!! I hated how Walt was so conniving about so many things but couldn't figure out this most basic principle out about being a gangster.

Toss up between three for me -

1. Walt watching Jane die.

2. Lily of the Valley - Walt poisoned the kid Brock.

3. Todd shooting the child on the motorcycle so there's no witnesses.

I went with #3. One and two were shocking, and ladder step moments in Walt's decline as a human being, but Todd shooting that kid was both horrendous and came out of nowhere.
Todd always seemed like a psycho so seeing him do something psychotic didn't have the same impact for me. But it was a huge WTF moment, for sure.
I don't know about that. Todd wasn't seen as a psycho until that moment. A thief with criminal connections? Sure. But a cold heartless killer who murders kids? Not yet. He actually seemed kind of wholesome (for a criminal). That was the moment you realized who he was. And it was hella shocking.
Was it really that shocking? I mean, we saw him kill Tyra's rapist back in high school. It's not like it's the first time he killed someone.

That and, if I remember correctly, it felt like it was pretty heavily foreshadowed. I wasn't all that shocked when it happened. At that point the show had been around long enough to establish that nothing was off limits.

I just recently finished this series and I agree that wasn't very shocking. I figured someone was killing that kid...kind of thought Mike due to his "successful criminals leave no witnesses" speech but figured that kid was toast. I voted Gus with the box cutter because up until that point I figured Gus was a shrewd businessman who never got his own hands dirty. To me that was the turning point of BB from being a great show to maybe the best series ever.

Walt killing Krazy-8 is up there too, though after he discovered a piece of the plate was missing, you had to figure his demise was coming one way or another.
Yeah this moment quickly let us know this show isn't ####### around.

But for pure shock, I don't think anything got me more than Todd shooting the kid.

Anyone mention Hector Salamanca pooping himself rather than talking to the DEA with a chance to point out Jesse and associate him with Tuco's murder yet?

That's my write-in.

Just watched that with my wife yesterday. She was shocked!
His spelling out of a message with the bell at the DEA office shtick was wonderful.

5 out of 5 stars.

So much fun reliving this series and seeing my wife's reactions to all the violence. Can't wait for Saul and Gus to make their appearance.
