Bringing jobs back to America thought experiment (1 Viewer)

I general, we've all rooted for jobs to be brought back from Mexico, India, etc.  it's the way Americans think.  America first, made in America, etc. But let's think about the advancement of the human race, and civilization as a whole.  In the words of John Lennon, "Imagine there's no countries"

So here is the question:  Is it better for the human race to have jobs in America, where unemployment is comparatively very low, but we are a world leader, or in other countries, where the quality of life is much lower, and it results in a lower cost of goods and services for all?

Some ideas to consider:

Take into account economic, political and social factors - i.e. what if the country oppresses its people - should businesses be supporting their economy?

Should we be supporting young democracies, as an example, or are there other non-economic reasons to support other countries with jobs?

Do we humans have a moral obligation to the economy of the human race, or only to our country?

Should the American Government be making it more difficult for a business owner to put jobs where it wants?

Should we as citizens subsidize any tax breaks the government gives businesses to keep or add jobs domestically?

Selfishly, I want jobs here, because my job is the kind of job that is in danger of going overseas.  If I get a vote, I'd vote for jobs here, helping put food on my table and a roof over my kids head.

I'm not worried about losing lower value jobs overseas.  I'm worried that we don't have the right dynamics to new create jobs to those lost back here with the gains from trade.

I am 100% supportive of job creation. I refuse to go gracefully into a consumption only society.

Some of you need to watch Miyazaki's Spirited Away which shows very vividly the path many humans are going down.

I also believe we have allowed a few corporations to control our food supply in this country. We need more farming and more locally grown fruits in vegetables in most larger populated areas. The farming could create many jobs and perhaps even allow for some folks to grow their own.

Its not sexie talking about moving backwards but this actually would be a major step forward.
