Build a FRANCHISE draft (1 Viewer)

With my 7th pick, the Raiders select Jordan Gross, OT, CAR. Peyton staying upright is huge for my team, and Gross has been one of the better tackles in the league the last few years and has been the strong point of the Panthers line so I can trust his ability to be the anchor of my line. Peyton ManningDoug MartinJulio JonesJordan GrossJulius PeppersAhmad BrooksAquib Talib
 :hot: I thought his age would let him slip to me.
:PThe OL run is getting pretty crazy here.
If it keeps going and none of the guys I want are available, I might have to take two more defenders.
Or a punter and long snapper

12 hours on a plane :jawdrop: . Why India?

We will start tomorrow(you can pick, but no clock)1 hour clock(we will be flexible for the first round or two)When you make your first pick, please specify what time zone you are in. Clock will be on from 9am-5pm in your timezone. Please PM the team after you, I will be monitoring and try and text people when they are up, or coming up. Try and check in at least a couple of times a day.Rookies are included in this draft and we will do a 3RR.Remember you are building a franchise, not just for next year, for years to come.Any other questions/suggestions/ideas before we start this thing?
FYI looks like an hour time limit (not 1/2 hour, my bad)...

I think an hour is plenty reasonable. Being skipped isn't too bad at this point. I also think four hours on the weekend is reasonable. Maybe even three hours.

Pfft 12 hours on a plane? Been there and done that. If you have wifi you'll actually be able to plan your entire draft out of boredom.

True, but I would always sleep if given the chance.

No, no more skips. We will be pretty lenient the rest of the weekend, then shore up the clock rules on Monday.

Good progress yesterday and today. I'm back to being on top of texts.

7.26 Rams select Jake Locker, QB

Wanted Nnamdi here. Will start my offense with a young QB, performed all right, worst case he tanks and I need to draft a rookie high next year. This defense should allow him the ability to take it slow and just avoid losing games. He won't need to win them.

In other news:

I do not need 4 PMs. I need one text message. I made that clear at the start, and asked the guy to my side if he would do it. He said he would not. PMs are useless, I do not get an email notification for them, and if I'm on this site, I'm checking into the draft anyway.

ETA: and for the record, my pick was in less than 10 minutes after getting a text.

I will need to send somebody a list for my 8.7 pick tomorrow, because I will hit the slopes fairly early. I will make sure to send a list early. Also, I have internet access via phone so a text to me will allow me to hop on the site and pick.

I can take a list
Thanks. I will send it (much) later tonight or in the morning (lifts don't start til 9:00AM anyway).ETA: RBM, Helltoupee, and Skeletoreh - I would like texts from you all. I know RBM you're an older guy, but surely you've got a cell?

7.27 Chicago Bears - Quinton Coples, DE

He really came on and impressed toward the end of the year. 5.5 sacks in limited play and out of whack in a 3-4. This guy belongs at DE in a 4-3 and that's where I'll put him

With coples taken, this is the easiest pick so far for me. He's a little older than the rest if my crew, but he will last a few more years.

7.29 Jahri Evans, G

On phone, someone please pm Next

7.31 - New York Giants select -

David DeCastro , G

DeCastro should be a stud at guard for many years ... had a high draft grade out of college (higher than Womack and Cooper this year) .

Pm sent to Auger

7.32 Bryan Bulaga, LT

8.1 Dwayne Bowe, WR

Bulaga was originally drafted to be the heir to Chad Clifton, the Packer's left tackle at the time. However, due to need, he was inserted in at RT in his rookie year and performed like a rookie. In 2011, Bulaga was an all-pro RT and played as good as any other RT. In 2012, outside of a single game against the Seahawks, he performed at a high level again but his season was cut short by an injury. This offseason, the Packers are thinking about switching Bulaga back to LT due to Marshall Newhouse's performance. I think Bulaga is more proven and has more upside than any other left tackle left in the draft and is a no-brainer for me at this point.

Bowe is the last true #1 receiver on my board that is under the age of 30. I thought about going with another position but ultimately decided Rodgers does need weapons. Picking Bowe provides Rodgers with a true #1 receiver and gives me more flexibility for future picks.

Sorry about taking longer than my estimation. I had a hard time choosing between Bowe and some other players still on the board.

:lmao: I'm 36. What's a cell?
:lmao:I'm older than you sonny
Just for the record, the joke was mostly intended b/c RBM pronounced himself an old soul, and that perhaps that was why he didn't understand these new advanced stats ;)On cells though, seriously. I'd like a commitment that my clock won't start til I get a text from someone. I don't think thats a lot to ask.

Thoughts on picking Bulaga to be my LT? Thoughts on Bowe over Winston?
Bulaga struggled when put at LT. I think he's a limited athlete and RT is his spot. I wouldn't be thrilled about trusting the safety of Rodgers in his hands. I'd have been more comfortable drafting him and Winston and putting Winston at LT.

According to PFF, Bulaga played LT in only his first two games of his career. PFF graded his two games at LT as +0.9 and +0.1. These were his first two NFL games of his career. His pass block was +1.1 and +0.1 and his run block was +0.6 and 0.0 and he has -0.8 penalty in his first game. I honestly haven't watched those games but nothing about those grades to me suggests he was out of his league. Plus, Bulaga improved as a player and was much better in his second year. I admit this is less than ideal and ideally I could put Bulaga at RT. I was hoping for Vollmer/Roos last turn but missed barely. I was hoping for Cordy Glenn/Gross this turn but missed on them. However, I think Bulaga is still a solid option at LT and can perform at least adequately and maybe even very well.

I almost took Bowe, but opted for Stevie Johnson instead. Do you think Stevie is a WR1? I never really liked Bowe all that much.

I've waited for one of three players.for a few rounds now, with mike pouncey taken, i will take Wilson's teammate

8.04 max unger, c

Still on phone, some one pm next, poor favor

8.5 Bruce Carter, LB

Another Cowboy LB. love his upside. Still gives me some flex about 3-4 or 4-3. Ware and Spencer could be DEs or OLBs. Building a good D for Brady.

Brady

Whitworth

Kyle Williams

Demarcus Ware

Anthony Spencer

Bruce Carter

Jason Mccourty

Alterraun Verner

I know you almost took Bowe, you sent me your queue and your list was Johnson then Bowe. :PI see them both as solid WR1s. They are definitely not at the Calvin/Green/Julio/etc. tier but they are definitely in the tier below them. I'd say Bowe is a little bit better but Stevie Johnson is younger. Bowe being better is just my opinion though and I don't watch every game for both players and my judgment is definitely not absolute. Overall, I'd take Bowe over Johnson but would have been happy with either one at 8.1. Both have been stuck on anemic offenses and I think both would benefit being on better teams with better quarterbacks. Rodgers to Bowe and Eli to Stevie should both be potent.
