Build a FRANCHISE draft (1 Viewer)

13.23 WR Alshon Jeffrey

Size, speed, hands. Still a bit raw, but has upside.

eta: Alright, not speed.

13.19 Oakland Raiders Select Dustin Keller

I've always been really high on this guy's talent but he's been stuck in a bad offense the past few years with mediocre QB play and battled some injuries. He's also been asked to block quite a bit for a TE with good receiving ability, but I'm confident in my tackles so I expect him to flourish with a great QB in an offense where he's just an afterthought for opposing defenses.

QB - Peyton Manning

RB - Doug Martin

WR - Julio Jones

WR - Denarius Moore

TE - Dustin Keller

OT - Jordan Gross

OG - Chris Snee

OT - Donald Penn

DE - Julius Peppers

DE - Da'Quan Bowers

OLB - Ahmad Brooks

CB - Prince Amukamara

CB - Aqib Talib

With the 12.24 pick, the 49ers select OLB Mychal Kendricks

Incredibly Fast LB going into his 2nd season - already pretty decent in coverage.

13.28 Vikings select Danny Amendola,WR

Debated between him and Welker last round, now have both. It's pretty unconventional but I think it can work. 2 great route runners, both deadly from the slot, but I think Amendola has speed to play outside. I can't recreate the Pats offense in full because the TEs are a big part of it, but hopefully Amendola can pickup a little bit of that slack. I think if I can land the other WR I'm targeting this could work out well.

13.29 Zach Miller, TE (the Seahawk)

This pick along with Wilson and Unger does make me look like a Seahawks homer, but he's really just the ideal TE for this offense. Underutilized receiver IMO, decent blocker, and one of the best all around TEs

Well done.. was hoping to pick him in the next round

Just realized we haven't been doing favorite/least favorite picks after each round. I don't remember what round we last did so I'll do them all again, excluding my own picks of course:

Favorites:

1. Brees

2. Julio/ADP

3. Vernon Davis

4. Timmons

5. Vollmer

6. Antonio Cromartie

7. Carl Nicks

8. Winston

9. Ben Grubbs

10. Antonio Brown

11. Courtney Upshaw

12. Melvin Ingram

Least:

1. Bowman

2. Mangold

3. Laurinaitis

4. Bruce Irvin

5. Alfred Morris

6. Curtis Lofton

7. Asomugha

8. Gaither

9. Ingram

10. Silatolu

11. Knighton

12. MJD

Yeah I was going to say I like Miller but I thought this was a bit early, but apparently it wasn't if you really wanted to make sure you got him.

13.32 Saints select Kory Lichtensteiger, LG

14.1 Saints select Jason Hatcher, DT

I wanted to go two defenders but the Massie selection reminded me how much this group loves to take OL. I am 99% sure I could have gotten Lichtensteiger 4+ rounds from now but I didn't want to risk it. I thought I could get Massie on the 15/16 turn but he was taken in round 12.

Chemistry is a big part of OL play and I have the same interior line that allowed Morris, who by no means is a special RB, to rush for 1600+ yards. Not only that, but each interior lineman also excels in pass protection and my interior line should keep Rodgers protected against inside pressure. If my tackles struggle against outside pressure, I can help them with a back/tight end. I am confident in Bulaga as a player, but my other tackle spot will most likely be iffy. Overall, I am satisfied but not thrilled with my OL.

Hatcher is the BPA on my front 7 board.

Saints

Offense

QB Aaron Rodgers 1.1

WR Dwayne Bowe 8.1

WR Pierre Garcon 10.1

WR Reggie Wayne 12.1

LT Bryan Bulaga 7.32

LG Kory Lichtensteiger 13.32

C Will Montgomery 9.32

RG Chris Chester 11.32

Defense

DE Michael Bennett 5.32

DT Jason Hatcher 14.1

MLB Bobby Wagner 4.1

CB Lardarius Webb 2.32

CB Chris Harris Jr. 6.1

FS Eric Weddle 3.32

Any no, heading into the draft, it was not my goal to take the Redskin's interior line. I originally decided that was my goal when Montgomery was the last elite center available and fell to me at 9.32.

14.03 Philadelphia eagles select John Jenkins DT

Rg3

Lamar miller

Hakeem nicks

Michael Floyd

Michael Roos

Johnathan cooper

Eric Winston

Mario Williams

Terrance knighton

John Jenkins

Paul Kruger

Akeem ayers

Kareem Jackson

Jarius Byrd

As a Redskins fan, I'm not sure if the o-line is any good or if it is a product of the read-option/pistol system along with a very talented QB and RB. These are the same guys who a year before were considered one of the worst lines in the league. Lichtensteiger is the only one under 30 and he's by far the worst of the 3, with a -16 run block rating last season. I understand the premise of keeping chemistry on the line but sometimes it's better to just find more talented players. I think the only reason Lich was resigned this offseason was because the Redskins have no money to buy an upgrade.

Saying Lichtensteiger is the only one under 30 is kind of deceiving because Chester and Montgomery both just turned 30. They both have 3-5+ good years left.I think two years ago they "struggled" largely because they were starting Grossman/Beck and were using rookie rbs selected on the third day, Ryan Torain, and Tim Hightower. That's not even mentioning Jabar Gaffney was their leading receiver! Their offense had an extreme lack of talent at the skill positions. Also Chester was new to the Shanny ZBS system. I do agree RG3 made the OL shine this year, but Rodgers is no slouch either. And regarding your last point, because the Skins have so little money, if they thought Lich was expendable they'd let him walk because Josh LeRibeus looked pretty good in the playoff game and they have more pressing needs besides LG.I'm not saying I have an elite OL but I do have an at least adequate one with good existing chemistry. This core group will allow me to keep Rodgers upright from day 1 and I have to worry about unfamiliarity and lack of chemistry a lot less than other teams. I would guess it takes a completely new OL group a year to fully internalize a new offensive system and gain chemistry with each other. My core group already has chemistry and has already internalized the Shanny ZBS system I plan to implement.

I'm going to be unavailable for large blocks of time from now through Monday afternoon (probably 4-5 hrs at a time). In the interst of keeping things moving, if I don't reply in the first hour I'm on the clock even over the weekend, please skip me and move on. I'll make it up when I can get back. Please do still pm/text so I'm aware.

F it, I like the guy even though he's old.Champ Bailey, CB
With a guy like Wayne already off the board, I think this pick is fine. He should have another couple of solid seasons left in him. I can't afford to take advantage of the old guys falling since I already have guys like Peyton, Peppers and Gross.

Demar Dotson, ot

Huge tackle at 6'9. Took over for the Bucs at right tackle in week 2 and never looked back. Schiano spoke highly of him and the 4th year pro looks to improve even more this year.

I contemplated taking him over Hatcher at 14.1 but felt I needed to stick true to BPA and take a defensive player.

I get that. Even if they aren't world beaters you have an above average offensive line in this league already. I think Lich was kept because he is good cheap depth (which has been a problem for them in the past) and they don't trust LeRibeus yet.
