CA laws on recording conversations? (1 Viewer)

I work in a restaurant.

Have a situation with a fellow employee. Have a feeling he could get physical with me.

I wouldn't mind that because I want him gone. Do feel he could get physical and my employer does nothing. I wouldn't want to involve authorities just want guy gone.

Can I record conversations with superior without notifying him? Would it make a difference if it was in his office or in "public" dining room?

California is two party consent but you might be able to get around that if you said you were actually recording your office farts. Just make sure to fart after he hits you is all.

consent is only necessary if there is an expectation of privacy.
I'd listen to this guy.

ETA: or any other attorney licensed in the state of California. This is a very state-specific question.

IDK, what are the laws on blackmail? Record in video and if he swings on you, that's his ###... it doesn't matter what the law is. Get that crap up on social media and he'll hang in the court of public opinion.
