Cam Newton - deja vu all over again? (2 Viewers)

One can only wonder if we are seeing another season where Cam started slowly and then turns into a fantasy beast down the stretch and into fantasy playoff time. Here are his last 5 point totals in my 3 point passing TD league:

18

9

30

15

28

That's salty.

Surely the level of competition has much to do with it, as he has faced the NYG, MIN and TB during that stretch. That said, if you watch CAR O much, it sure appears they are running a more expansive offensive now than they were at the beginning at the season. Most notably, the past two weeks I have noticed many more designed run plays for Newton, particularly in the red zone. It's the rushing TDs that make him so deadly.

He has ATL, SF, NE, MIA, TB, NO, NYJ & NO left. I see 3-4 easy matchups and 3-4 tough ones. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but he could very well end up again as one of the highest rated yet most disregarded fantasy Qbs again this year.

I hope so and this is exactly why I drafted him and paired him with Vick this year. Allow Vick to start hot (sorta) and when he gets injured (as he did) insert Cam and hope he has a similar run to last season. So far my master plan has worked out perfectly. Muhahahahahahahahaahah

Oh if they could somehow land a Josh Gordon WR1. Super Cam would vault to Manning/Rodgers/Brees status for me.

Carolina should consider moving next year's 1 to do this. It's going to be a late 1, so it's more like a 2. Gordon is such a perfect fit for what this offense is missing. And if Cam and the D keep playing like this, it could be #32 overall.

He only does well when I start Romo instead of him and vice versa. Needless to say, I started Romo last week and again this week! Here's hoping Cam keeps it going and the play calling keeps improving to take advantage of his skill set.

Exact same storyline as last year. I can't imagine why anyone would sell him after a slowish start. Granted, I'm his biggest fan, but the fella just wins weekly matchups and gets on beautifully timed hot streaks. Cam and the DST have been superb for me so far, I love you Superman!

I don't like his weeks 14-16 matchups - NO, NYJ, NO - but with his running you can't discount the possibility of some big games even against good defenses.

A legit WR1 is so needed in CAR. Nicks,Gordon or anyone on those lines would make Cam a top 3 QB in fantasy

I was just day dreaming this myself. I really think CAR should step up and bring in a legitimate WR for Newton. After last night's win, they are sitting at 4-3 in a very shaky NFC. Now is the time to step up and make that push. You know their coach is feeling the heat to win now.

Looking at it practically, they will almost certainly be spending their 1st round pick next season on offensive help. The draft can be a total crap shoot, even in the 1st round. If you can move next year's first for a proven, NFL commodity at WR right now, why not do it? CLE has denied that Gordon is available but another 1st round pick would be almost impossible to turn down. Josh Gordon and Cam Newton would be one hell of a pair... Bombs away.

Adding Gordon would help out that offense tremendously. You could then move Steve Smith into the slot which could reinvigorate his career. Jonathon Stewart should be back by week 9. CAR would go from fringe wildcard contender to legitimate division champion adding a WR of Gordon's caliber. Newton has already begun his 2nd half tear early so the pieces are in place.

Sure you guys just weren't the first managers to take a backup and Vick was the best one available? Or are you just that good at predicting the timing of injuries?
