Can we discuss pet peeves here? (3 Viewers)

Pickup trucks that back in and take up half the sidewalk.
Any vehicle that backs in, if others are waiting.

And any vehicle too big for conventional parking spaces, which includes nearly every full size pickup and SUV.

You should always reverse park. It makes it so much easier to leave and reduces the risk of accidents.

these mammoth vehicles also block the view of traffic when you're trying to turn. if they pull up next to you, you've gotta wait for them to turn or pull off in order to see traffic coming so you don't get t-boned.

would be so much better if they had the thought of pulling up short of the car next to them since they can see clear over the top of your car anyways.

I do all of these things with my F150. Don't feel bad about it at all.

Does the cost of condiment packets come directly out of the paycheck of the drive-thru employee? If I order 3 meals and then ask for ketchup, why in the world would you think handing me two little packets is going to satisfy my request?

On the flip side, Taco Bell franchisees must be swimming in cash... they will hand me a bag that already has Mild and Hot packets in it, and if I ask for Fire they just grab an entire handful and toss them in on top...

Only if you don't know how to drive.

With backup cameras it is much less of an issue, but it still reduces accidents.

It also makes leaving parking spots much easier.
My company has mandated it for so long it is ingrained and no slower or more difficult than pulling in front first.

Yeah fast food is becoming a pet peeve of mine. I can't remember the last time I got fast food and the order was 100% right. They either forget ketchup/onion ring sauce or get my wife's no onions request wrong or the mexican pizza is folded over on itself or something else.

The one exception to this is In N Out. Every In N Out I've been to operates like a really well oiled machine. It seems like they all have 20 people back there all hustling and cheerful, and the order is never wrong. A line 20 cars deep takes like 10 minutes to get your food. Whatever thay are doing different should be looked at by all other fast food chains.

No slower? What on earth are you talking about?

Hit Taco Bell on the way home from umping earlier this week. When I got in line, there were seven cars in front of me. From that moment until I got my food? 34 minutes. I shat you not.

Vehicles with "Watch for motorcycles" bumper stickers who do not use their turn signals and roll through stop signs.

It honestly gives me anxiety to know that people are waiting on me. I always make sure to stay out of the way of people in the grocery store, I let people through in traffic, I am always early for meetings, etc.

After a decade of reverse parking I park as fast as the average person does pulling in straight.

I'm the same way. I pretty much go through life trying to inconvenience other people as little as possible. My wife constantly calls me out on it. I know it's a problem. I just feel it's very hypocritical to complain about stuff if you're going to do those things yourself.

Backing into parking spaces is definitely safer than backing out of spaces. And probably quicker overall because backing in you don't need to creep out slowly to make sure some idiot isn't going 30 in the parking lot.

I don't often back into spaces, but I should

The previously named big trucks love to park as close as possible, so seeing past them becomes easier when inching forward to avoid the other d-bags zooming through the parking lots.

Chick-fil-A does well here.

Yup. Something about those Christian owned fast food franchises.

Except for Sundays. For some reason no one shows up for work.

Nor does anyone else in monster trucks. Congrats, I guess?

By virtue of 4WD availability, I recently rented a Ram. While I'm sure you get used to it, it's really a PITA to drive a full-sized truck. Other than hauling stuff, I don't see the appeal.

I need to know if this is just me being randomly angry or this annoys other.

Maybe I have ask me everything kind of vibe..... We are walking around with computer in your pocket.

Yet my wife, my parents, co workers just ask a thousand questions that would take 30 seconds to answer. What time is this? Do you know this? When is this? Like im the gate keeper of answers
So there can be no human interaction at all then anymore? You can't ask your spouse anything that you'd be able to look up online yourself? I'd argue you're the bigger problem here. And it's part of why society is disintegrating.
Thats fair but after the 1000th time of insert inane question here it gets tiresome
I get that. But "I don't know" seems like a reasonable response.
Sorry if I portrayed I rage..... i usually say i don't know but then get asked again and again or if I could find out - then rage :P But it still annoys me ;)
my wife fights this battle with her mom daily.

mom is a widow. her friend circle is literally dying off. she has no outlet except my wife because we live close by.

MIL can barely negotiate a smartphone or computer & isn't what i'd call an.... intellectual... so she peppers my wife with dozens of questions on a daily basis. my wife is very much a "figure it out yourself, you have google" person so this is an epic battle every. single. day.

in the end, it's really about my MIL being lonely and thinking of reasons to call her daughter.
Perhaps a pet chimpanzee? Mother’s Day is just round the corner

Well the first time you see somebody in a wheelchair have to turn around and find a different route because they can't get around your boss hog mobile, I would hope you would change your mind. You seem like a decent guy so maybe you could just realize there are a whole bunch of other situations where it is a major inconvenience for others all because you want to be able to back up until you hit the sidewalk instead of staying a couple feet away from it and use a back up camera or just a rear view even.

on a surface level, having a perfectionist write procedures seems like a great idea.

overlooked is that a perfectionist cannot stand the idea that they did something wrong.

buddy, you missed an entire step in the process. i'm just the messenger. no one can use this product until you (the sole person with access to edit) updates the procedure. it's not a personal failing. people make mistakes. it's normal. this isn't an assault on your very being. let's not make this the hill you die on.

I know exactly the guy you're talking about at my place of work. Except he's the arrogant perfectionist, and would immediately go 100% defensive when something like this is brought to his attention. How dare you question his work or even consider the option that there might be a mistake in it, you seem to be forgetting that he's the one that wrote this procedure so therefore it must be flawless.

Why the everloving crap does every soap product smell like a Sephora? I don't want to smell like minty lavender, or whatever. Even a lot of the "unscented" stuff is scented. \

WTF?

I don't have really any "quirks" some small ones here and there but one I do have drives me insane when I go to the ATM ..... I like to have all my bills face the same way..... I hate it when they come out all different directions
You use cash? I guess my pet peeve would be having to use cash.
Always carry some.... mostly for lunches and golf bets.....lol
Rarely carry any. Lunches -> credit card, Bets -> Venmo.

The last thing I remember using cash for was a raffle for a local HS. I was even able to pay for Girl Scout Cookies with CC this year!

ETA: I have an emergency $50 bill in my wallet that I bet has been there 2+ years

We go to a lot of local mom pop places I try to give them cash.

People in the restaurant much prefer cash tips. I'll pay with a card and tip in cash 90% of the time. Always have, always will.

This may not be the country for you, Keerock. You might want to try France.

I'd rather tolerate tipping... albeit on a CC

Yes. My local dispensarys aren't allowed to take credit cards because of local laws. It's funny how often the ATM across the street is out of money
this dispensary..... they have a lot of cameras? lots of workers? close to a highway entrance?

asking for a friend
Add in a guard in the parking lot and another inside. Plus they scan your drivers license before the magic door opens.

Yep, I waited tables in college and I'm sure the rules have changed but there was nothing worse than getting a tip on a credit card because then your taxes came out of that

Wait, you didn‘t report your cash tips as income?

I'm sure things have changed, but IIRC, when I was serving I think we had to report 10% of our sales to the IRS.

For me, I like to tip in cash because some restaurants will hold the credit card tips back and payout on a payday. Some will force servers to pay a portion of the credit card fees (as high as 3% in some places). I think people in the restaurant industry prefer them, but it could be some myth I have in my head.

I was being facetious, and assume most people earning cash without a receipt just pocket the money, effectively committing tax evasion. And @belljr explicitly mentioned taxes coming out of the tip as the problem.

But you are right. There are probably many reasons servers prefer cash. Hopefully I tip generously enough to offset those concerns, as I never carry cash for other reasons.
