I dread hearing the chirping battery indicator that makes it impossible to sleep and having to go get the ladder (and hope that we have extra batteries) while half asleep at 3am.  

I just disconnect the power cord inside and let the battery swap wait till morning. But yes, still sucks getting out the ladder and all. I always wondered if they have a light detector that only allows them to chirp at night.

I just take out the battery..... it stops chirping with no battery (if its wired)

There's an older guy in my neighborhood who wants to blab with everyone he sees when he walks his dogs.  Everyone knows the type, if he catches you it's a 30 minute ordeal minimum.  Yesterday I was trimming/edging the yard after mowing, had my back to the road, and I turn around and he's 5 feet into my yard waiting for me to notice him.  I'm hot, sweaty, dirty, gas-powered weedwhacker going full blast, earmuffs on, and this guy wants me to shut it all down to chat.

We have a bunch of door to door people in my neighborhood - enough that I put a nice no soliciting sign in my garden near the steps.  Anyway, one day Im trying to replace the amp in my car.  This is not some amp in the trunk, this is an amp that controls all the sounds in the car (chimes, blinkers, radio). Its under the dashboard, so im on my back on the floor, trying to reach up under the dash trying to undo a couple bolts.  And this dilhole comes wandering up (Excuse me, I was wondering if I could talk to you about our service) - it took everything in my power to not scream at this dude.   I just said (not a good time and Im not interested. Thanks.   He started to go on and I just stopped stared at him for a second as im sweating while im lying in my car.  He stopped instantly - said sorry and walked away.

At some car washes here in KC they put a plastic sleeve over the back windshield wiper. Think a clear plastic newspaper cover. 

Presumably to protect that wiper when the car washes brushes and such go over the back of the car.

I'm convinced there is nothing that can be done to get rid of them.  I've tried answering in a foreign language, answering but muting immediately, cursing at them, telling them I'm a minor, telling them I sold the car they want me to buy a warranty for, waited through the message to hit whatever button to be removed from the call list, I've ignored the call, I've answered and hung up, I've told them I'm in prison on a phone that I smuggled in using my ###, I've tried everything I can think of doing but they just keep on calling day after day.

I finally switched my iPhone settings to silence all calls that don't come from a number that's in my Contacts.  I do miss some work calls, but they usually follow up with an email and/or leave a message.  

I've actually noticed MORE spam calls (I still get a pop-up that the call came in) since I changed this setting.  

Quite ridiculous.  Do they actually make money off this crap?

Edit:  I have had 6 "potential spam" calls (no number listed by iPhone) and 3 other "junk" calls w/ numbers associated with them..... since 8:45am this morning.  Ugh.

That said, I get Irritated that in nearly every cop show, the cop yells out at the  suspect from 40 feet away, giving them time to hop in the car and speed off or run away. This would never happen in real life. It’s just stupid.

My greatest trick is having a number with an area code located a thousand miles away from my locale. I have no contacts in the area code of my phone, so i know calls from there are telemarketers spoofing the area code, or old-fashioned wrong numbers; if I get a call from the area code in which I live, it's a near lock the call is meant for me.

I will talk to the caller for awhile. Long enough for them to start feeling comfortable. I then ask for their company name and phone number. I then say:

”Thanks. Now, please take me off your call list, and if your company calls again I am reporting you to our states Attorney General for harassment.”

My spam calls have dropped like 95%.

After all the spam calls, I got a phishing call.  It was the one from "PayPal" telling me to confirm that I had bought a laptop on eBay or wherever.  Like PayPal ever called before about that stuff.  Idiots.

How long are the lines at your convenience stores?

Around here, the dominant brand is Wawa, and they don’t do lottery stuff at their registers (self-serve machines only). The mom-and-pop stores that have lottery stuff at the registers almost never have long enough lines to be bothersome.

I'm sure this been mentioned several times over the course of 96 pages, but people who don't pick up after their dogs suck.  Even stranger to me though, are the people who do pick up their dog's crap but then drop the bag in the yard or on the street/curb.  I've seen people claim that they are leaving it there to pick up on the way home, but 90 percent of the time I see a bag of crap in the morning, it's in the same exact spot when I walk by with my dog again in the afternoon.

One of our wawa's just got self checkout.  Gamechanger.

Ours just got them about 2 months ago.  They are awesome, although the one time I didn't notice that the light wasn't on until I had scanned my sandwich code and credit card, saw it was in some admin state so I selected the reboot option.  When that didn't work I had to wait for a worker to rescue me and cancel the transaction and go to the regular checkout.

I've tried this, but they are catching on.  Seems they hang up way earlier than I expect them to.  You ever pissed one of these guys off?  They say some of the nastiest stuff I've ever heard spoken.

I cut them off immediately and politely ask to be placed on their do-not-call list (note: this is separate from the national DNC list; every company is required to maintain its own internal list.) The moment you ask them that, they are required by law to stop trying to sell you and accede to your request.

The way I see it, that way they don't waste my time and I don't waste theirs by using it up on a customer who's never going to buy.

We’re not taking about telemarketers making cold calls, we’re taking about the people saying that your computer has a problem and they can fix it or trying to extort money.

I get a lot of the "automated ones" ....where it is a recording first....so you can't really tell an actual person until you hit some buttons and stay on the phone for awhile....and I don't have the patience to do that...as soon as I hear the robot voice lady or dude I just end the call...

I was just speaking on a video call to like 100 people and I see dude with a workshirt and a clipboard walking down my driveway.  Sure enough, doorbell rings, dogs (who I put in the basement since I would be on camera) start barking like crazy, and I have to apologize and mute for a few seconds.  Then the jack### rings the doorbell a second time.  

Does anybody actually buy anything from these people?
