4-Way Stop!

-You are roughly 5 yds/15 feet from the stop sign and someone going the other way and already stopped is sitting there with their left turn signal on...
WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR??? Apparently they enjoy watching me come to a complete stop before that foot even thinks about lifting off their brakes.
They easily could have already turned and been gone, now we ALL have to wait for this idiot to finally receive their invitation to turn.
This gets compounded when additional cars show up at the same time.

Get your head out of your ***!
Man, you would hate small town Wisconsin.

4 way stops are an exercise of 4 people trying to be nice and wave on the other people to go.

It's both endearing, hilarious, and frustrating at the same time.
Same in HI.

We are getting roundabouts. Yea! We weren't too sure people would get it, but things have been moving effieciently.

Students haven't been treated like real people since before the pandemic
I'm not surprised Statler and Waldorf are working double duty as show critics and life planners for youngsters.
I was okay with you making fun of the frog, but don’t bring me into this.

I can teach these kids some important things. Like the value of a good nap.

Came here to post something very similar. When people unambiguously are at a stop sign before you, but then take forever or even wave you on, suck.

Also when people stop for you as a pedestrian when they clearly did not need to at all. Like buddy i am not even close to the intersection yet...are you stopping for me or are you looking at gps? You are looking down...eye contact please...

A good footlong at Jersey Mikes can cost $15.00 to $17.00. I start feeling guilty when I realize I could paid the same price for a large pizza and fed everybody.
Where can you get a large pizza for $17? Those are getting up to $30-$40 for good pizza places (I do not count Little Ceasars as pizza).

I'm in FL. $17.00 still gets you a nice pie here. The most expensive pizza here gets to around $25.00 to $30.00. Here's a place we like to go to on the beach:

https://cocoabeach-brunos-pizzeria.menufy.com/

Obviously the prices are bumped a bit for being on the beach, but lots of cheap food options still for us Florida people.
Whoa. I was just in here a couple weeks ago. Thunder on Cocoa Beach is a huge weekend there. We love Bruno’s.

I pay about $45 for my haircuts after tip and always make an appointment though so we can’t be too good of friends.

Everyone (other than traffic nerds) hates roundabouts… until they actually experience them and realize how much more efficiently they move traffic. I think it’s just the initial stress of figuring them out

They are terrible for pedestrians because everybody is watching the cars. Very dangerous.

Agreed. But then there's also the hard-braker who travels at the speed limit until the last second before the stop sign. Yeah, if he's anywhere close, I'm not turning left in front of that dude until he shows some indication he sees the stop and is slowing down.

STOP SAYING KIDDOS !!1!11
Eh.

On the fence with this one. It's not like I publicly call my kids "kiddos" (on Facebook, here, etc.)

But my Dad called my sister "kiddo" when we were growing up and I find myself sometimes calling one of mine that from time to time.

You're certainly entitled to the peeve, though... lord knows I have posted many "on the fence" ones here.

100%

navigate a couple of these on my runs and it's a nightmare. people do not look for pedestrians, or cyclists, only cars.

You always play for the 1/10,000 chance? You should just stay home, you could get killed anywhere along the road
A 4-way stop is about the least likely of places you are going to be t-boned when the speed limit is 20 mph in all 4 directions

🚔 Not a reflection of your SP contributions but we will have to impound your car for now 🚔

this sounds like it may be more of the "facebook dreck" where moms think it's "cool" to use that phrase for their own monkeys.

Likewise it's "hubby" for their spouse and "besties" with pictures of their boozed up wine/book gatherings.

gack.

Kind of agree wtih MoP here. Where I live, people take forever to go from stop signs and green lights. It's particularly annoying because here in Portland, turn lights stay green for 2 seconds, 3 seconds tops so you frequently have to sit through at least 2 light cycles at busy intersections.

It's not hard to look at opposing traffic before your light changes to see if you really need to be safe and wait before moving.

well... my wife had her car totaled at a 4 way (turned into an 8 way- two lanes in all directions) when someone went through without stopping.

That sounds like a major intersection, the 4-way I referenced is deep back in a country club like community, 25 mph speed limits.
2 lanes from each side, sounds like a stoplight is in order
Sorry to hear, hope your wife didn't sustain long term injuries

we were ok, but it was quite an impact... many air bags deployed. officer on the scene and insurance were great. it was slick and just got dark. the car who hit us did not stop and hit the front passenger side as we were making a left.

a light would help. i would be an advocate for a round-about, but most people here are not great with them.

I've gotten a few good Dominos pizzas before but I like Marcos and Papa John's the best.
Dominos is very location dependent. Some are good, some are terrible. The consistency across franchises is not there so you are rolling the dice if you go to a new location.
I'm alright with my local Domino's. But I only get their pan pizza. It's actually pretty good. And their stuffed cheesy bread is pretty damn good too. I used to order it more, maybe once a month? Been awhile. But I'll order a medium pan with pepperoni & half sausage, eat that half and save the pepperoni half for my daughter... and slam about half (or more) of the cheesy bread. It comes with a pretty good garlic butter sauce. Totallyyyyy fat free. :bag:
Dominos is bad. I still get it occasionally but not because it is good. The other chain pizzas also are bad. I will take any mom and pop pizza place every time, even the bad ones are better than the chains

If they have a vaguely offensive, stereotypical Italian chef on their boxes, you know you have a solid baseline. It won't be the best pizza you ever had, but it also won't disappoint you

Yeah, but a pizza at a local place is like $30 now. It's absurd. I normally want to support those places, but come on. I can get a Domino's for like $7. I'll take that every time if those are my two choices.

I still like the ramen noodles you get for 25 cents a pack
With just a little effort you can turn them very good anyway.

A little (dark) miso paste in the bottom of bowl, and a little gochujang. A few sliced onions, even better if you have scallions around. Poach a couple eggs and slice up some leftover chicken or pork...boom.

Yea, I often do something like this. Green onions, poach and egg, melt a slice of american cheese, add some hot sauce.

The law requiring school buses to make a complete stop at all railroad crossings. Because of a single accident in 1938.

1938.
It sounds like the law works then if there have been no more accidents since 1938.
Why don't we all stop then? Or just not ever drive? That would stop accidents too.
Nothing is preventing you from stopping. Law just mandates it in a few cases where in the public interest, such as school buses and hazmat trucks.

Sure, not ever driving would stop car accidents, but you could use that as an argument against any measure put in place to help mitigate. Maybe we should eliminate laws about stopping at stop signs and red lights and make everyone just play chicken on the road because, eh, accidents are going to happen anyway.

Yes, this is definitely what I was saying. This is fun. I'd like to a throw a party in your honor.

Of all the worlds problems and pet peeves to chose from, you may have won the prize for the worst.
