One thing I heard somebody say that I agree with - I think it became very en vogue to mock people voting for Trump so people who wanted to vote against Hillary or for a Republican kept their mouths shut so they wouldn't be ridiculed.  Not that they love Trump but they hate her and the establishment.  If they get a touch of misogyny and racism sprinkled in they will deal with it.

Yeah, except that in spite of all that, he beat her.  How bad did she have to be to lose to this clown?  Again, if Hillary primary voters can't admit their faults, we may never move past what is happening tonight.  Get a clue Democrats, she is an awful person.  I would have voted for Bernie in a heartbeat.  Instead I voted for Johnson.

It's a fair question to ask at any stage of the process.  How did any of the top 5-6 on the Republican side lose to that clown in the primaries?  How did Trump succeed in making the election about anything but qualifications to do the job?  What other possibilities were there on the Democrat side, and would they have been equally equipped to take on a conventional opponent like Jeb Bush or John Kasich, or an unconventional sideshow like Trump?  

IMO Bernie would have struggled in the general against a mainstream Republican.  He was a good matchup for Trump, but Sanders's lack of traction with minorities in the primaries would have been question marks in the general.
