CB/WR Travis Hunter, JAX (1 Viewer)

Travis Hunter only ran 27 routes on 45 Trevor Lawrence dropbacks yesterday (60%).

Hunter played 43-of-69 defensive snaps.

I think this roughly what some of us expected, a few catches for 50ish yards and a couple of defensive plays a game
Maybe if I bench Hunter this week it’ll motivate him to score more.

Really surprised he isn’t getting more looks on offense. Team invested too much not to make him a focal point. Cmon Coach! You know what to do.

week 1 he was open for a huge gain and maybe TD but Lawrence missed him, don't give up

Seems to be a recurring theme. T Law missing WRs. There's like 70 pages of people going back and forth on how bad Caleb Williams is for doing the same thing. At this point, I have more faith in Caleb getting better than I do T Law. Trevor appears to be spreading the ball around like Love in GB. BTJ keep dropping passes and putting forth lackadaisical effort, Trevor appears to be going elsewhere.

Anyone starting him this weekend? I wish I could say I'm excited to start but his production has been modest at best. 14 total targets after 2 weeks but only 55 total yards and no TDs. Heck Dyami Brown has 15 targets and 109 yards and 1 TD so far. Is Dyami the play over Hunter until we see something different??

Dyami has also multi super easy drops. He’s getting open though

Divisional Game and if your getting the IDP points then big YES

I've got him on the bench, flexing Dobbins over him but am not 100% comfortable with that. Rivalry game against a very good defense, but hard to deny there's a sizable opportunity for him in this offense. I'm leaning into this being a potentially low scoring game with Etienne and Tuten being the focal points.

I feel like I should sell in dynasty. He still has potential, but he's not a fantasy asset and I don't see it happening any time soon. Best to sell to a believer before his value falls off a cliff.

Didn't watch the game but analysis says he was especially awful today. Had to get directed by teammates on where to line up for plays and didn't play well overall. Maybe it happens this season, maybe not.

is BTJ no longer a fantasy asset?
I'm not sure what's going on with BTJ.

I just see Travis Hunter as an average WR and an average CB right now. He isn't refined enough to be elite at either position and won't get there playing two sides of the Ball. Jacksonville has a decision to make. One that could result in Hunter have zero value at all in some leagues. I'm not feeling good about the risk/reward ratio any longer.

Is anyone surprised that the Jaguars are screwing up a high draft pick?

Franchise is and has been a joke for years now

They spend all that draft capital to move up to take Hunter and with what they are doing he is totally useless to them so far
A top 5 pick should be starting and contributing right away to the team in a big way, unless it is a QB who needs to sit and learn some first

This is just a travesty what they are doing with him, a complete waste of a top 5 pick.

He is not playing and contributing, does not look like he is learning or improving on anything so far

He could be a weapon at WR but they do not use him and looks like he is not even practicing much on that side of the ball as it seems he
doe snot know what is going on and where to line up

At CB he looks like nothing special at all so far.

They should just put him on offense, work and practice with the offense only, get him up to speed and see what he has
He could be a big play maker

This working both sides is a complete waste of time
He is mid on both sides of the ball as it stands now due to use and practice time

certainly looks that way so far - may be a great athlete but the 2 way aspect so far is holding him back on both positions. Hed be better off pivoting to one and focusing on it as he does look lost.

It’s really dumb how the Jags are handling him. I shouldn’t be surprised but I am, as I expected him to be a huge part of their offense with how much draft capital they used to acquire him. He needs to be 100% wideout and throw him in on defense for 5-10 situational snaps per game.

It’s a shame the Jags are 2-1. There would be more outrage if they were 0-3.

As the 2nd pick, he needs to be really good on one side of the ball. I think it’s fine if he’s primarily a corner if he’s able to be elite at that and use him situationally on offense.

But yeah. Super frustrating on a fantasy level.

Travis Hunter - Week 1: 8 offensive targets, played 10% of defensive snaps Week 2: 6 offensive targets, played 60% of defensive snaps Week 3: 2 offensive targets, played 69% of defensive snaps

Travis Hunter’s BAD Week 3 Offense:- 37 snaps- 2 targets- 1 reception- 21 yards Defense:- 43 snaps- 4 targets- 4 receptions allowed- 48 yards allowed

Some offensive plays where TH (or other Jaguars) didn't understand the playbook. There were others in Week 2.

Why is the number two overall pick and former Heisman winner being written off after three games? He'll figure it out if he's playing WR.

Parker Washington is the wr 2 on that team now.
I'm not wasting valuable bench space hoping all of a sudden Hunter is more involved and becomes something this year..
What a waste of a pick.
I'd rather stash a lottery rb guy.

I'm with you. He's struggling too much on both sides of the ball. Put the rookie at either WR or CB and help him succeed at that position.

He was my strongest take at WR thinking he will pass BTJ as Jax #1 WR in Coen offense by EOS. After 3 weeks, realized playing both O and D in the NFL as a rookie is too much. I was wrong.

He will not be any good on offense unless he starts practicing offense only and working on being a WR only/mostly
until then he will be a depth receiver who catches 1-4 balls a game

Splitting practice time with defense/offense he will not get any better or learn much with less reps than he should be getting

Is he spending time after practice working on being better at WR? Running routes, working on his routes, learning the plays better
I would bet not

Is he a #1 shutdown corner, doubt it, can he be a good corner probably yes

Are you drafting that at #2? NO! So the Jaguars need to figure out what they want to do with him, as it stands now he will
not be adding much if this continues as it is.

I hold a SMALL glimmer of hope that JAX is "letting hunter find out on his own" that he can't be a 2 way player in the league. I know there's a 99% chance I'm giving them too much credit, but holding out hope..

This way, the player isn't mad at the mgmt for denying him being the 2 way player he wanted to be, and the player sees for himself this isn't college and it can't be done.

This is absolute best case scenario. There is NO way the kid is happy w his performances and usage so far... and he basically has himself to blame at the moment. Smart kid, sort it and get on the offensive side of the ball and move.

For me its because his "hold" status comes with twice the risk as any other player in his situation. If things click on defense first his fantasy value could drop to zero.

Was high on Hunter as a WR and still am.

Surprised by Coen's usage on offense...all dink and dunk, nothing downfield

Has Coen publicly made a statement about Hunter on offense this week?

For his rookie season they should have decided either WR or CB, not both as it is hard enough for a rookie to adapt. Then heading into his 2nd year they could explore the 2 way option. I'm really hoping they pull the plug on the 2 way for this year and dedicate him to WR as they really need someone to step up at WR.

This dude had fantasy bust written all over him. It sucks so many people fell for the hype.
Fantasy, what about in reality? They sold the whole farm just to move up to grab him.
100%. I mocked the hell out of the trade on another forum and I still do. Hunter was a fun prospect but most of what made him such an elite college player (Playing both sides) simply is not going to happen in the NFL. He can try but he simply won't succeed or last. The Jags were one of the worst teams to acquire him too. They are so far away from competing and giving up those assets for a hybrid WR/CB is awful.

You simply can not trust Travis Hunter as a fantasy player because you have no idea if he'll even be playing WR each weekend lmao.

I wonder how much that is on quarterback play because I still see elite fast twitch movements with Hunter and his ball skills are undeniable to the point where he’s still open even if he’s covered .. You gotta throw it up there and have the confidence that he’ll come down with it.

Parker looked pretty good.

Parker always does good with his touches. Wish they would have just made him WR2 and kept their draft picks. :(

So tempted to use his roster spot for a player that can actually help my team this year.
I just don't think Hunter is good as people think...He's just very good at playing both sides of the ball. Nothing stands out in his game..
He looked great against college kids playing both sides.but in the NFL he looks average for a wr n defender..
Unless Thomas gets hurt,No value for Hunter this year. ..

Hunter could still turn out to be a great pick, worth every penny (meaning in real life, not fantasy), but from the Browns perspective it looks like a steal so far. Graham and Schwesinger both look like legit NFL starters through three weeks. Fantastic players. And they have another first round pick coming next year. A great bit of business for the Browns.

Problem with the pick is the Jags are mismanaging the player.

Trying to be a two way player is the problem, pick a side of the ball you want him on and let him work to get the reps doing that
playing both sides will not progress him to where his talent should take him, Jags screwing the pick up

Jags need, should have evaluated where he would be best suited and put him there, instead, like bad franchises do, they try and
go with the gimmick of being a two way player in the NFL, it's not going to work like you think it does

the amount of work he would need to do to get where his talent could take him on both sides of the ball would mean he would have to put in hours
more of work on his own after practice, that is not happening, add in the physical toll on your body in this league

This is just not realistic thinking in today's NFL, the Jags are screwing this up allowing it
