That's in Sockmonkey's sig, but there's no link to the post. I guess that's another great post that was lost to time. Going through my posting history, I don't see anything left from the Civil War stuff.

I just found this out tonight. I never knew him outside of who he was on this particular message board and doubt he would've considered me even an iFriend, but I think I'm in a bit of shock in hearing this news. I know he lived around my area too, but I never was in his circle which would suggest saying hello in person.

I'm pretty sure we didn't agree on many a subject, but considering he's one of the oldest names I remember from the yellow board, he will definitely be missed. If you asked me to name 20 people from this place I hadn't met already, it would have been an oversight on my part if I did not list his name.

Edit: Like I said, I didn't know him that well outside of many threads on FBGs.com, but even I'm upset I didn't suggest saying hello in person. My condolences to his true friends, both brick&mortar and internet, and his family of course. 37 is way too young and hopefully his life was a full and happy one; I think that's all anyone can realistically desire. He certainly seemed like a great person to me by his actions here. I could only hope he found me half as interesting as I found him.

Doctor Detroit asked me to post this on his behalf (while he's on timeout).

This is like losing a family member, one of my favorites at that. When I had to go up against him in voting earlier this year I really did vote for Shiny because he was he was in his own tier of posters. Smart on politics, history, science, and college sports he was something of an oddball at FBG because he just made every post count.He was especially good at the funny, always having perfect timing and relating to almost any personality or posting type. He was always one of my favorites from the Moon needs a new name thread to the Russian bride draft to posts about canned meat. We exchanged many pms over the years and he was always gracious and entertaining as well as being an extremely intelligent person who always weighed all the variables in any argument.To say he'll be missed is an understatement, he is irreplaceable a one of a kind guy that we were all privileged to know even at a distance. I knew his first name and once sent him a pm with the Charles in Charge theme song as text. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends, he was a gem.

Thanks for posting this hack. It still hasn't hit me yet, I have been preoccupied over the past month and hadn't noticed him not posting but I have noticed before. Last fall in October he was gone for more than a month and I asked about where he had been, not sure if I ever got an answer and never cared because he was back and in full force. That was probably unrelated but the point is he was missed for that month for those of us who watch for his posts. Can't say I look forward to reading but a handful of posters material on the internet, but I always checked out his posts when I saw his name at the end of a thread. He'd stay up late like me so we crossed paths quite a bit I suppose, plus I generally agreed with his politics and enjoyed a ten post banter with him about nothing once and awhile. Anyway for the FFA this is like losing a All-Pro WR or really a top 50 greatest player (I'd say top ten for sure). But that is just content, we lost a good friend and a member of the family too. Hell I communicate with a few FBGs more than I communicate with most of my family with calls, texts, pms, and e-mails. Shining Path had gbs here like that too, he was good people. RIP Sendero Luminoso, you have no idea how much some of us will miss you.

In some ways I felt as though he and I were similar in a lot of ways and always felt a kinship with him.

He was easily one of my favorite people on this board and will be missed greatly.
