One of the top 2 OTs should be there at #9. Improving both the WRs and OL is a good step, plus the future draft picks makes this trade a no brainer.

I was thinking we could take care of the OL in FA since it's a much stronger class than DL.

They're definitely hitting OL hard in FA with someone like McGlinchy or Taylor and maybe Nate Davis. Then hit it again in the draft. FA DL can get Allen and Ekubam. Also address further in draft. Then almost definitely have a top 10 pick next year, if not top 5. Have their WR position mostly tied up at this point. Maybe even add another in the draft.

I would really hope they would just stick with Larry Borom over signing Jawaan Taylor. That guy sucks. One of the worst run blocking OTs in NFL history. Could get on board a lot with Nate Davis though, and maybe McGlinchey or Kaleb McGary.

I'd prefer McGlinchy over Taylor. Just an option. I'd have to disagree that OL isn't a weak point for them. They'll have at least 3 new starters this season.

Whitehair is as good as gone. Saves 6 mil and he's been terrible. Bears OL was a disaster last year. Fields running is the only thing that saved it a little. Jones and Jenkins will remain.

It really wasn't a disaster at all. The Bears led the league in yards per carry last season, and it wasn't just Fields, Khalil Herbert was 1st among RBs in YPC. If that's a disaster its one half the NFL would be happy to have. The Texans OL was a disaster.

Teams were letting the Bears run when they were down also. Bears had some weird stats as they were the best team in 1st qtr scoring (along with Philly).

The NFC South is pretty putrid - don’t be shocked if Carolina wins that division.

I think Poles will go for a veteran pass-catching RB in free agency if the price is right to clear the RB need from the board. Would love to see Jamaal Williams but he may have played himself into a more expensive contract than Poles would be comfortable with.

With the #Bears trading out of the 1st overall pick and acquiring the 9th pick (amongst others) it starts to become pretty evident why the #Bears have been investing so much time meeting/evaluating with Paris Johnson Jr.

Yes, they can run block. You conveniently left out that they allowed the 4th most sacks in the league while having the least amount of pass attempts and completions at the same time. There was talk of and mocks with Richardson going No. 1 before the Combine. Obviously way more hype since though.

Digesting everything a day later and I still love the trade. I thought 9 would be a great spot to grab an OT, but now I'm feeling that #9 just has to go to the defensive side of the ball, and hopefully DL.

Bears have the cap space for their pick of the FA crop. I think McGlinchy and Dre'mont Jones should be their two big pickups. two solid vets who will help both fronts. Skipping out on an OT in free agency leaves the Bears with a pretty big hole that they are almost forced to address early in the draft. Jones, Jenkins and Borom are all young and would benefit from playing with a vet vice a rookie.

Get a difference maker on D early in the draft. Bears then have three picks between 53-64 to grab a couple solid cogs in the offense.

The 2022 pick was also the 29th overall I think? I don’t expect the Panthers to be in the NFC Championship game.

The 49ers moved up from 12 overall to 3 so 9 spots, but 3 slots later in the draft. The Bears moved back 8 spots, still have a top 10 pick, and got a likely top half of the draft 1st in 2024, 2 2nds, and DJ Moore.

A big difference is the 49ers were a good team when the deal was made despite having a bad 2020 due to losing Bosa, Jimmy among others for virtually all season. Ran Mullins and CJ Bernard out every week. Anyway, they were a playoff type team and the future #1s were expected to be in the mid 20 or worse range. They ended up being #29 overall both years. Panthers will probably be a pretty bad team in 2023 and good chance the 2024 #1 will be a top 5 pick with the outside chance of #1 overall. Plus picking up DJ Moore who is under a nice contract for the next 3 years. Nice haul.

That said, IF Stroud or Young hits big, it will be worth it. If they end up middle of the pack QBS or busts, it sets the Carolina rebuild back big time.

I don’t see it. The Saints will be better with Carr. Not that Carr is great but much better than Dalton. Think they win the division by a couple games.

I know everybody wants to be positive and I'm playing devil's advocate here but for me personally this franchise will never get the benefit of the doubt from me. Especially when I see little similar things to mistakes of the past. Orlando Brown is just a better player than Mcglinchey. We have a ton of money to throw around and a bad line. When will we be able to get a young stud like Brown again? But we're going to pass on him because he isn't the right fit.

I'm excited for this week and know we have a lot of needs and I want to see us build a winner just as much as anyone. But these guys have to show me they're making the correct moves before I trust them.

I'm excited for this week and know we have a lot of needs and I want to see us build a winner just as much as anyone. But these guys have to show me they're making the correct moves before I trust them.

While I think everyone would agree Brown is better than McGlinchey, I'm not sure Brown is a "young stud" he's a good OT, but he's not a top-10 guy and judging by what he rejected from KC (6/140) he seems to want to be the highest paid OL in the NFL, by a good margin. Just because you have the money doesn't mean you should spend it foolishly.

Probably because of so many holes they have and how expensive Brown will be. That and how Jones did pretty decent as a rookie starting from day 1 and is super cheap.

I'm starting to think we don't like adding stars to the franchise. Last time we jumped into FA day one and went and got the best player it worked out great. Julius Peppers

Probably has a lot to do with scheme as well. Not all stars fit everywhere. Brown is more of a road grater. Bears scheme requires a more athletic guy

I know everybody wants to be positive and I'm playing devil's advocate here but for me personally this franchise will never get the benefit of the doubt from me. Especially when I see little similar things to mistakes of the past. Orlando Brown is just a better player than Mcglinchey. We have a ton of money to throw around and a bad line. When will we be able to get a young stud like Brown again? But we're going to pass on him because he isn't the right fit.
