After Seattle signs F Jackson the odd man out goes to Dallas or Oakland and becomes fantasy relevant.

Likely happens after you've cut the guy.

 
Why would they have to cut someone? They can carry 4 easy. Rawls and Rod Smith are the backups, I would think they would be the ones to go.

The reason why is because Seattle still employs a FB so they are already keeping 4 if you include either Derrick Coleman or Will Tukuafu. I suppose they could go FB-less but that doesn't seem to be their style. But signing Fred Jackson would certainly mean Rawls and Rod Smith are gone and likely means they have a Turbin or Michael trade lined up.

They probably would keep 4. But they have two options:

1. Trade Michael/Turbin for a likely middle-late round pick and keep Rawls or Smith as the #4 RB.

2. Cut both Rawls and Smith and get nothing in return.

GMs love Option 1.

To add to this, the reason why they wouldn't keep 5 is because they are using the depth at O-line (keeping 10) where they are currently struggling to find a sufficient lineup, and also at D-line (keeping 10) where they prefer a healthy rotation to keep players fresh and fast.

I also wouldn't say they won't make a trade. But the fans will think Turbin or Michael will garner a mid-round pick where I'm sure it will be more like a conditional 6th/7th.

 
If Turbin is not injured and headed to IR my guess is Michael gets shipped off to ATL or Oakland. I posted it in another thread but thought it should go here after reading.

 
Turbin has little value since he's in the last year of his deal and teams aren't going to give up a valuable pick for Michael who can't even beat out Turbin as the team's backup.

 
Atlanta wouldn't be bad. Freeman is terrible and we don't know about Coleman. Offense as a whole isn't bad though.

Oakland, at least on the surface, seems content with giving Latavius a shot.

 
Christine seemed blind as a bat on runs. Missing lanes, afraid of contact, no clue what he was doing. Hes a complete trent.

 
Why not Atlanta? Quinn has seen Michael... (that could be a good thing or a bad thing based on this thread lol)

Why not Dallas? Are they REALLY happy with what they have? Couldn't they land Michael for a conditional 6th?

 
This could be interesting. I remain a believer, but the specifics of how this plays out will be telling. It will be a good sign for Michael if he's traded. I think it will be neutral if Turbin is the one moved. It will be a bad sign if Michael is cut.

A lot of people in here desperately want to see Michael fail, but he has consistently been pretty effective when given carries. At the same time, the lack of trust that Sumlin had for him at A&M is a sign that there's off-field/intangible issues with him. He is dumb as a post, but still he can run the rock and that will appeal to people.

It would be tough to keep all 4 because none of them play on special teams. FJax seems like a better fit as the change of pace back, even at his age he's superior in that role to Turbin. But who knows.

 
So now we know Turbin is dealing with a High Ankle Sprain.

Am I being a Debbie Downer by reading the tea leaves and thinking they must really not have much confidence in Michael if they would rather get another RB off the street than simply promote Michael to #2 for a few weeks?

I'd think it means more to how they think about Rawls and Rod Smith.

I think it will be more than a "few weeks". A significant high ankle sprain that is showing up in the MRI will put him out for a pretty lengthy amount of time IMO (4 to 6 weeks).

I am expecting they put Turbin on PUP.

Honestly EBF, I think hes one of those good/great athlete not a football player types.

IF I owned him, I would hope hes on the move, then trade him in a value spike

Fairly certain PUP isn't an option for Turbin (he played in preseason game(s) I believe)

Yea, people have been comparing him to those Chris Henry workout Warrior types from day one, but it has never quite fit. He was Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year and generally had a solid YPC in college. Even now you can talk about the depth chart, but if you add up all of his NFL carries (preseason and regular) you will see that he performs well. That really goes against the idea that he's just a combine wonder who can't play.

I talked ad nauseum about his attitude problems and work ethic in college. That's what's holding him back, not his talent.

 
Why would you ever combine preseason statistics with regular season statistics? They are entirely different animals.

Actually....not "this". He fumbles and doesn't consistently follow the play design or just doesn't know the play. I don't know what he scored on the wonderlic but Im guessing he would give Frank Gore a run for his money.
