David Bowie Criticizes MTV For Not Playing Black ArtistsThen MTV had the gonads to brag about breaking the color barrier - the barrier THEY had up.
I posted the video before seeing this.iirc, David Bowie had a hand in bringing attention to this.
I totally disagree with you here. I don't find a weak spot anywhere on this album. It's hysterical to watch Marc Goodman squirm and talk in circles while Bowie smiles and nods and replies "interesting" (a/k/a "you're full of ####").jamny said:iirc, David Bowie had a hand in bringing attention to this.

Nice touch with Desperado - even if you got the Puddy part wrong.I’m a bit surprised about the dislike regarding this song. To me it’s sound, which is a lot like Gallow’s Pole from the previous album, is central to the whole LZ listening experience. Here it's The Battle of Evermore.
Oddly, Gallows is one of my favorites from that album. I find BoE shrill and unlistenable. Paradise and You Shook Me I can tune out if needed, but my hate for this song knows no bounds. Don't have a great reason for it, it just is.I’m a bit surprised about the dislike regarding this song. Dog gonnit, they're all better than "The Girl Is Mine"Oddly, Gallows is one of my favorites from that album. I find BoE shrill and unlistenable. Also my favorite on IV (but not my favorite Zep overall). Just a fantastic heavy, sludgy song.timschochet said:When the Levee Breaks is for me the best song on the album, and the best song by LZ period.
I'm surprised as well. It is actually my favorite song on the album. That's the beauty of music, i suppose.I’m a bit surprised about the dislike regarding this song. To me it’s sound, which is a lot like Gallow’s Pole from the previous album, is central to the whole LZ listening experience.
It's a cover. Memphis Minnie. How many songs on this album did Led Zeppelin rip off?![]()
I hope When the Levee Breaks is legit because that songs rules.
Agreed. Top to bottom an awesome albumMAC_32 said:One of the best starts and finishes to an album out there, but the middle leaves some to be desired for me. Dang. I had no idea. It's a cover. Memphis Minnie.
Want to find the original now. Great album front to back. Upper-tier elite of albums.timschochet said:Led Zeppelin- Led Zeppelin IV (1971)
Black Dog
Rock and Roll
The Battle Of Evermore
Stairway to Heaven
Misty Mountain Hop
Four Sticks
Going to California
When the Levee Breaks
My original plan was to wait a long time before choosing a second album from the same artist. But last night I put on an old playlist and Levee came on; I listened to those pounding drums and thought what the hell?
When the Levee Breaks is for me the best song on the album, and the best song by LZ period. There I said it. Going to California is my second favorite on the album, my favorite acoustic effort by this band. Evermore introduces me to Sandy Denny and then Fairport Convention so I’m grateful. Rock and Roll is the ultimate in rockabilly which must make Brian Setzer green with envy. Stairway is the most overplayed song in rock history and I still love it.
Led Zeppelin IV everybody.
Greatness personified.timschochet said:Led Zeppelin- Led Zeppelin IV (1971)

Yup. And in before anyone says the movie made a mistake with “Kashmir” subsequently playing in Rat’s car. Was done on purpose by Cameron Crowe because LZ wouldn’t let him use anything from ZoSo.
Great song. Tony Kornheiser always describes this song as the best Teen Angst song as it relates to teen love."Will You Still Love Me" is real close to 6 decades now
Dude was a Grade-A weirdo but a hell of a singer/dancer. I always separate someone’s art from their personal life.Epic Problem said:I really can’t be alone here, can I?.......
in this #metoo era, why are we still glorifying Michael Jackson? Does the fact that he’s thankfully a corpse somehow absolve him of his reputation?
Two down, seven to goLooking forward to Tim's coverage of Physical Graffiti.
Looking forward to Tim's coverage of Pleased To Meet Me by The Replacements. I think I have a long wait ahead...Looking forward to Tim's coverage of Physical Graffiti.
There's that "moment" in When the Levee Breaks we all know.Zep IV and Thriller have some great songs on them. I'd be fine with never hearing any of them ever again. Except "When The Levee Breaks."
I always thought it showed how nervous he was - he got the album wrong. The cool part is Kashmir really fits the scene, and makes it funnier.Yup. I don't hate it, but I've never been a fan. The vocal melody gets on my nerves.Great album but my 3rd fav Zeppelin (I,II) Cant stand Misty Mountain Hop it makes me want to tear off my ears .
Yeah, I think that was indeed the way Crowe had the scene play out - good way to use the restriction to the film’s advantage.I always thought it showed how nervous he was - he got the album wrong. The cool part is Kashmir really fits the scene, and makes it funnier.
