I think all we know is that he killed himself for something he heard (or didn't hear) on the radio and that he was an on air-personality on the radio station.

Yup, I think you've got all the pieces now. He was a DJ who put on a record, then left the building to kill his wife. His alibi was supposed to be "I was at work" but there was a technical malfunction that gave away the fact that he wasn't there.
