Could Anthony McCoy be Fantasy Gold ? (1 Viewer)

ISUDESTROYERS

The question needs to be raised especially in PPR (TE heavy leagues that allow 1.5 per reception). Specifically, for the following reasons:

1) McCoy was the #1 target of Russel Wilson in Pre-Season. First chance he got (because of Zach Miller's injury), he produced 5 receptions for 41 yards and a TD.

2) Rookies love their Tight Ends

3) Looks like McCoy has the potential to be a smaller and similar in athleticism version of Antonio Gates - PLEASE NOTE THE WORD POTENTIAL PLEASE :)

Thoughts/Opinions???

He had 5 targets and caught them all. What happened the first game? Between Miller, Evan Moore and McCoy I don't think any of them will work out for fantasy purposes. Moore will probably be used more in the red zone than the other two. 1) Wilson played most the preseason without Sydney Rice and Doug Baldwin, and was also playing with the 2nd and 3rd string guys for some of the time....don't look into it that much. McCoy has never shown great hands.

2) Rookies don't all love their TE's....not sure why you said that....look at RGIII and Fred Davis for example.

3) I question McCoys hands.

I wouldn't lean on him. If you are looking for a TE pick up the black unicorn. Seahawks are a run first team.

Cowboys have 2 stud CB's against overmatched Seahawks WR's and lost their best LB for portions of the game and both starting safeties. In a normal game I can't see the Seahawks featuring their TE ... perfect storm IMO.

It is hard to buy into a guy that catches 100 % of his targets and only has 5 catches, it reminds me of all the love the tight end in Oakland is getting right now (forget his name) He has been targeted 11 times and caught 11 passes.

There are a couple of things to consider here:

1) The TE simply isn't featureed enough in Seattle's gameplan to make McCoy fantasy gold.

2) Russell Wilson simply doesn't throw enough to make any receiver on the team fantasy "gold."

He's going to have some decent games now and then, but if you want somebody who evokes even a remote feeling of trust from you, look elsewhere.

FACT #1- McCoy was the favorite target in the pre-season which had many questioning if Winslow was going to be the starting TE. Hind-site...McCoy's pre-season could have been one of the major factors of Winslow's Surprising Release. FACT #2 - Going into the season (with Winslow on the team) it was a forgone conclusion that Zach Miller was going to primarily be a blocking Tight End and Winslow was the receiving option. McCoy can easily slide into this role now that Winslow is gone.

FACT #3- He by far was the #1 target in Seattle's Passing game last week. He is starting to have some good chemistry with Russel which started [again] in the Pre-Season.

PERSPECTIVE: In terms of potential reasoning of why he didn't have a catch in game one...it very easily be that it was Russel's first game and McCoy is a little short on game experience. They more than likely played the safety card and let the McCoy watch the first game. Very reasonable to me...not to mention they could have very easily wanted to establish the run early in the season versus having a pass heavy attach versus the Cardinals. Not saying this is fact...but reasonable to me.

In closing, I'm not guaranteeing or declaring he will be Fantasy Gold... I'm saying he could be quite a find in fantasy circles and don't have a forgone conclusion that he couldn't be develop into something special this year.

[FACT #1] McCoy was the favorite target in the pre-season which had many questioning if Winslow was going to be the starting TE [FACT #2]Going into the season (with Winslow on the team) it was a forgone conclusion that Zach Miller was going to primarily be a blocking Tight End and Winslow was the receiving option

[PROBABLE FACT #1] The reason he didn't have a catch in game one...was it was because it was Russel's first game and McCoy is short on experience...but still has tremendous upside. They more than likely played the safety card and let the McCoy watch the first game.

The answer is still no.

maybe if you're playing in a start 2 TE league. TE is way too deep this year
I'm in a Tight End Heavy League that rewards 1.5 points per tight end. I have 2 flex positions I can fill so....in theory... I could start 3 Tight Ends which includes my regular TE spot !

I appreciate the effort you put into that post, I just don't agree with anything said. You seem to scatter small nuggets of truth with a bunch of #### and then declare the entire thing to be true. I would love to respond and get into a long debate with you but your reality seems a bit skewed on this one making it not worth the effort.Hawks released Winslow due to money and the availability of Evan Moore. He's competing for snaps and targets with 2 other TE's both of which are more established than him. He has a history of bad hands....Im not sure that will change. The hawks are a run first team. Everything points to NO. Sorry I don't agree with you. Looks like others feel the same.

Not really, most of the reason involved Winslow's salary .... and he apparently was not fitting into Pete Carroll's clubhouse well

He is in his second year with upward trending momentum. Here is the good AND BAD of what they say about him coming out of USC:http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?prospect_id=2185

Many other scouting reports say don't diminish his minimum production at USC as they utilized their WR alot in their offenses. In the video below, it does look like he has potential...and he should NEVER be discounted.
