Culpepper to be traded next year? (1 Viewer)

What would C-Pep be worth in a trade, i.e. 1st, 2nd , 3rd,..............?
Nothing right now. Teams won't try and nab Culpepper until they can see how he responds to his nasty, nasty injury. This is not your a-typical ACL injury, folks. While I believe he can rebound from it, teams will be very wary trying to trade for him, if Minnesota would even consider trading him...

Those were thoughts on my own. Making Culpepper a scape goat like the Vikes did with Moss (to keep Tice?!?) is beyond stupid. I saw in a prior post that you feel a 2nd round pick may even be too rich for a 5000 yard/40 TD QB? That's probably an accurate perspective of the trade market but the resounding conclusion is Culpepper can't be traded for fair value. Trading away superstars is not going to get this team moving in the right direction. Getting an elite OC/OL/RB to go with a superstar QB will. For anyone ignorant enough to scoff at my suggesting Culpepper is a superstar I'll add there is simply zero debate to be had that a guy who showed the capability to put up *historic* statistics is a superstar. Those numbers do not arise by mistake.
Sincerely,Daunte's Mom
Sincerely, Brad Johnson

:goodposting: Basicly what I said on Page 1. No team is going to give up what The Vikings would be asking for Culpepper when they have no idea how he will respond after his recovery.

The Timetable for his recovery is sometime NEXT AUGUST.

I just can't see this discussion in April:

Gm: "Vikes want our 1st round and a player to be named later for Culpepper"

Coach: "Has he even tried running yet?"

GM: "Ummm, No, he can't even walk without a brace and crutches, but he is rehabbing and might be ready by October"

Coach: "Cool, so we go with some scrub for the first 4 to 5 games and Hope Culpepper is the same old QB and can lead us this year"

GM: "Well, I wouldn't count on him this year to lead us any where, but in two years he will be healthy and preforming top notch again"

Coach: "Alright, pull the trigger and let's look forward to 2007!!!!!!"

Hypothetically,

Whatiff Linehan ends back with the Vikes? He's a proven commodity as an OC. Knows the system and personnel with the team and I assume he was well liked in Minny (Haven't heard otherwise so I'm making a leap of faith).

The Vikes shelve CPep for the first half of '06 (remember too that despite the severity of the injury, he's not a RB or WR and despite his claim to fame he hasn't run much of late anyways) and keep Johnson as the preliminary guy until he's back.

That leaves the RB situation. Didn't Bennett despite all his naysayers look pretty decent under Lenihan? Also, assuming he's overcome his brain cramp, the Whizzinator will be back next year too. New coach + a no BS owner = maybe he gets his act togeather?

edit to add: maybe they could trade his whiney a## to the Chargers for Brees?

And for the record, this sort of idiocy should be beneath you. This sort of potshot reminds me of every straw chewing huckbilly who calls into KFAN masking their true agenda for ignoring the following 2004 statistics:- 16 games played.

- 379/548 passing (69.2%)

- 4717 yards passing

- 39 TD's passing/11 INTs

- 110.9 QB rating

- 406 yards rushing/2 TDs

Culpepper would have absolutely been the NFL MVP if not for P.Manning's own insane season. Feel free to mention the QB's who have put up numbers rivaling Culpepper's as a fluke.

No. No. And No.

Slow down, Sparky. I was just pointing out that you were a little over the top.I agree that Daunte's 2004 year was historic. I also agree that were it not for Manning's performance that same year, CPep is probably the MVP.

But that was two years ago. He regressed terribly at the beginning of this year. OL/OC/RB/WR problems notwithstanding. His decision making was terrible and he often looked completely panicked.

Compound that with the injury and he's not even close to the same player you're talking about with your statistic citing.

Sparky? Over the top stating my opinion? Watch your demeneaing tone bub. Calling me Daunte's mom for expressing a stistically backed point is JV. Oh and "OC/OL/RB/WR notwithstanding" Culpepper took a step back? Was it only those minimal things? Here I thought his entire game was turned upside down but if it was only OC/OL/RB/WR issues he was dealing with I guess I see your point.

Sorry.That you're so humorless.

Daunte is due a 6 million dollar roster bonus in the spring so his future will likely be decided before he is healthy. According to a local news report, Wilf claims that he will pay it. If that does indeed happen, a Viking Duante will be.
