*CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM* (1 Viewer)

My wife and I saw Larry David's play on Broadway a couple weeks ago. It was pretty awesome. Kind of like watching a live episode of Curb. We lucked out and walked into the theater 2 hours before the show and they had a couple box seats that someone had just turned in. Could have been the best seats in the house. Great time.

This must be done by now right? I saw him in the Woody Allen movie - ok, cute girl - but mostly he was channeling Woody, which is annoying, but more so because it was like Larry doing Woody.

Yeah, the play is over. I think it only ran for a few weeks. We still talk about the awesome seats we lucked into that day.

I always thought the George character was based on Woody Allen. Later I learned that it was based on Larry David. And then I realized there wasn't a whole lot of difference.

I've read that the Bernie Sanders stuff on SNL really got his creative juices flowing again. It was obvious how much he was having, especially the "Bern Your Enthusiasm" short film.
Flipping around the other day, caught him on what is apparently a new variety show with Martin Short and Maya Rudolph. He was part of a segment with Short's old Jiminy Glick (sp?) character. He looked like he was having an awesome time with it so I hope that's true.

edit: Found the link. I've never been able to stand Short but thought this was great.

Nobody knows how to show uncomfortable moments and what folks are truly thinking in these situations any better than Larry David. From Seinfeld to CYE, it's been about 25 years of nonstop laughs.

He's the silent king of comedy, doesn't get enough respect IMHO.

The Jiminy Glick show on Comedy Central was hilarious.

The 1st 5 seasons of CYE

'00-'05 have a certain beat thru most of the episodes. It's Larry vs West LA and everything from running down a hallway to the doctor's office to anyone who waits on him for more than 5 seconds.

The last 3 seasons have all seemed a little different. Still very funny but a little different. Season 6 has Hurricane Refugees hanging out, most of the time very little black comedy in Seinfeld and CYE,  it had its moments. Season 7 is mostly Seinfeld Reunion and it was very well done as he was trying to win Cheryl back. Season 8 felt more like Seasons 1-5 and it will be interesting to see after what will be at least a 5 year hiatus where they want to start.

Hooray Larry!

Season 6 had more than moments.  It is awesome if for no other reason than it introduced the world, or maybe just me, to J.B. Smoove.  Love that guy.

Is Larry the oldest lead ever in a comedy? He turns seventy next summer. Buddy Ebsen and John Forsyth were in their seventies during the run of their shows, but they were dramas.

Lucille Ball had a show when she turned seventy-five but it was cancelled within a month.
