I wonder if Gervais improvised the line about Seinfeld being "broad comedy" and David left it in.I have watched the scene twice, and the way Larry flinched and his mouth opened but he didn't have a comeback seemed unscripted. He looked genuinely surprised by that line. He's heard all sorts of insults about his personality, his baldness, his outlook on life, but I would bet he has not heard any snide remarks about Seinfeld, and that's maybe why he was caught off guard.
It wouldn't surprise me. Larry David and a few others were on a podcast and they made mention how a lot of the dialog is unsripted. They have a general point they want to get across but not the full dialog. Now how much of that is truth I don't know...

There is just an outline. No script. Sometimes there are "key lines" that are written, but the vast majority is ad lib.

:yes:Saw and interview with LD and he confirmed this. Also said that when he's talking to Leon and it often looks like he doesn't have a clue wtf Leon is talking about, is because he doesn't have a clue wtf Leon is talking about IRL.

worst episode of the season but still pretty funny
Really? I thought it was a great episode. Ricky Gervais had so many funny 1 liners in there.
Could you share a few? I don't think he is funny at all. I never watched the British version of "The Office" so maybe he is funny in there.
All the banter between Larry and Ricky was gold. "frivolous nonsense for the moronic classes"

"Check it out Columbo."

"You gave me the gift of wine, I gave you the gift of art."

I love how Larry hates everyone.

==================

"Why do you want to eat with me?"

"Because we never get a chance to eat in L.A."

"BECAUSE WE'RE NOT FRIENDS!!!"

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

phenomenal double meaning episode in the vein of some classic Seinfeld episodes. Just fantastic

Except for the part of Larry being on a softball team when they are only in NY temporarily.

Leon: Ho ho! Look who’s in the mother ****in’ house! Ha ha! Leon in the muther ****in’ house!

Larry: You drove the car? Look what you did to the car.

Leon: Let me tell you something, this mother ****in’ car got some heart! I was surprised. I thought it was a ######## car. This ##### got some mother ****in’ heart to it.

Larry: Why didn’t you fly?

Leon: I don’t fly, baby. You gotta have a photo ID for that. **** that. This mother ****er got some room to it too! I got eight mother ****ers up in this car!

Larry: Yeah…what?

Leon: I thought it held only four people.

Larry: What are you saying? You picked up hitch hikers?

Leon: See the baby seat back there. Hell yeah!

Larry: What are you doing here anyway?

Leon: I had to get outa’ that ****in’ house man. That ****in roommate was driving me crazy and ####.

Larry: Who?

Leon: The roommate!

Larry: Roommate!? What roommate?

agree.. so much going on in this one.. lesbian vs. hetero, leon killing it, juicing, entrance to the hall denied, #### bow, etc...that's a lot of hilarity packed into 25 min

I think I actually need to start watching Entourage later in the week. It's bad enough on its own but then having to follow Curb just makes it unwatchable.

Sunday's episode had me :lmao: .. As others have said, so much going on. And ending with him not getting into the Hall. Too good.

Leons banter is always funny. I loved when Larry walks up and theres Leon with his car.
And the car's banged up, and Leon's roommate in Larry's LA house is driving him crazy. :lmao:
Leon is a great character. The only other thing I've seen him in though is Pootie Tang. He needs to get more work!
He hosts a standup comedy show which is pretty bad, and he isn't on that show himself; which surprised me considering how much he kills it on Curb.

worst episode of the season last night. I laughed maybe once... it was generally terrible.

oh well.. 2 left!

I miss Cheryl being a part of the show, and Leon isn't getting enough time either

Had a few chuckles. Mostly just over the concept of having a car periscope and when they showed the wife scarfing down the food at the restaurant.Definitely not as many laughs as provided by bisexual or Palestinian chicken.

so ridiculous that I was :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I love those moments when it's just Jeff and Larry doing buddy stuff.Going to Pinkberry, enjoying the Periscope, the doll head episode. The list goes on.

I was just telling my coworker who also watches religiously that I could have done without the whole one-armed man storyline. He then informed me that it was a reference to the movie, "The Fugitive" (which I haven't seen). After reading the Wiki entry, it all makes sense now.

 Never heard of the Fugitive?I knew about the connection...It did not make the show any better.

Sure I've heard of it. Haven't seen it.

I am surprised you'd never saw the Fugitive or knew what the 1 armed man was about. However, it didn't really make it any funnier. One of the worst Curb episodes of all time.

Ughh...I did not make the connection. With that said, I will say it was the worst show in the season thus far. But the true sign of a great series that that show was better than anything else on the entire week...when your hanging curve ball is the best pitch the rest of the "staff" has, you know you are money.

I guess you aren't watching Louie or Wilfred. They both throw wicked sliders.

To me, a one armed bandit is a slot machine. Lots of films/tv shows I haven't seen (Saving Private Ryan, any of the Godfathers, Friends....)

Whoa. Goodfellas?
Love it. Can't miss it. I think it's on basic cable every night.I've seen the unedited version once.
So is The Godfather; no idea how you haven't seen that one if you're a big TV watcher.
Just not into mobster/mafia stuff. Goodfellas is really the exception. I've started on various Godfathers, but always give up.

:lmao: :lmao:

Oh my god....that was phenomenal.

Instant CLASSIC episode.

"This chair is a #### machine!"

"We will #### their sisters in their ####s"

Jesus. So good.
