Dan Orlowsky had his first start last week , played awful in the 1st half but got in a confort zone and had a very good 2nd half .

What if he leads the Lions to a 7 - 2 second half of the season and miss the playoffs by 1 win.

Is it possible or am i on drugs ( Just somekd a small one 10 minutes ago ).

You're on something powerful if you think the Lions could go 7-2. :lmao:

First off, I am not if comparing a QB to Derek Anderson is a compliment or insult. Second, IMO the Lion's will not be going 7-2 with their remaining schedule. I imagine they will find a way to win one, but I cannot find a week that it will be easy for them. I think under the right tutelage, Dan O can become a effective QB. Unfortunately he plays for Detroit so he will not have that opportunity to develop while there.

A very good 2nd half indeed. Let's take a closer look:3rd Quarter:

1-10-DET 26 (14:54) 6-D.Orlovsky pass incomplete short right to 84-S.McDonald (38-D.Faggins).

3-7-DET 29 (14:12) (Shotgun) 6-D.Orlovsky pass incomplete deep right to 84-S.McDonald (38-D.Faggins).

1-10-HOU 47 (12:32) 6-D.Orlovsky pass incomplete short right to 84-S.McDonald.

2-9-DET 21 (1:09) 6-D.Orlovsky pass short left to 86-M.Gaines to DET 22 for 1 yard (54-Z.Diles).]/b]

I bolded the single completion Orlovsky had in the 3rd quarter.

4th Quarter:

1-10-DET 4 (11:56) 6-D.Orlovsky pass deep right to 81-C.Johnson for 96 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

1-10-DET 18 (8:40) 6-D.Orlovsky pass short left to 45-J.Felton to DET 29 for 11 yards (35-J.Reeves).

2-14-DET 25 (7:29) 6-D.Orlovsky pass incomplete deep middle to 84-S.McDonald.

3-19-DET 20 (7:23) (Shotgun) 6-D.Orlovsky pass deep left to 87-M.Furrey to DET 43 for 23 yards (47-W.Demps, 35-J.Reeves).

1-10-DET 43 (6:44) 6-D.Orlovsky pass short right to 34-Kevin Smith to 50 for 7 yards (54-Z.Diles, 32-F.Bennett).

1-10-HOU 31 (5:44) 6-D.Orlovsky pass incomplete deep right to 81-C.Johnson (32-F.Bennett) [90-M.Williams].

3-8-HOU 29 (5:41) 6-D.Orlovsky sacked at HOU 36 for -7 yards (93-T.Bulman).

Megatron caught a 58-yard prayer at the buzzer of the 2nd quarter, and a 96 yarder in the 4th that Orlovsky threw from his own end zone. Of course they all count in FF, but those plays make a stat line that makes Orlovsky look much better than he was.

The one drive that Orlovsky did anything at all with in the 2nd half was late in the 4th quarter. It was advanced by two Houston penalties and the Texans were mostly giving them the middle of the field.

Anderson had a running game, an offensive line, and an easier schedule. These two are nothing alike. At all.

Also, don't forget about the strong winds at Ford Field that Orlovsky will have to deal with.

keep smokin and I will have my 8th drink of the day! glad ROY is gone! wanna drive to Det to see clit n campbell blow up!

Looks like the kid has the ability to keep a play alive, but I don't think he understands how to read a defense yet. My advice is to stay away. He looks like a career backup

I dunno. I would say if he keeps at it he has "Rich Gannon upside". I mean he is a second year player whose only tutiledge (of any value) came from studying under Kitna. I think it's a lil early to stick a fork in him (dynasty-wise). FWIW the lions have been in every game since he has been at the helm, and were supposed to really be in none of em.

I've watching him play, and it just doesn't feel like he's doing that well. However, he has started 3 games for the Lions and here is some info:

In games Kitna started, the Lions lost by an average of over 20 pts/game.

In games Orlovsky has started, they have lost by an average of under 6 pts/game.

In his first 3 starts of his career, he has accumulated these stats-

45-81 55.5 comp% 7.8 YPA 638 yards (213/game) 3TD 0Int 0 fumbles (+1 bonehead safety)

Passer ratings in the 3 games: 95.3, 99.6, 88.2

The comp% could be better, but 7.8 ypa and 3:0 td:int with no fumbles in the first 3 starts isn't too bad.

The YPA is extremely skewed by a halftime hail mary and a 96 yard TD to Calvin. Orlovsky has been below average and has not led the Lions on very many scoring drives. Having no turnovers is the only positive I see. All he did yesterday was check down.

One bad thing Marinelli said in his presser today was that Stanton would not play solely to evaluate. With an 0-7 team, that make absolutely no sense and I am hoping the front office steps in and demands to see Stanton and the other young players, or else fire him, one of the two.
