Danario Alexander - Lottery ticket? (1 Viewer)

Ill keep thinking back to that "nothing special" analysis every time danario puts up a Calvin-esque stat line like this lol
You gotta know where to look my friend, you were given the proper information in here; there's no one to blame but yourself unfortunately.
I actually like Vincent Brown quite a bit, but I don't think he'll be any threat to Danario's playing time. Danario is uberly talented, when healthy he's a legitimate WR1 both in real life and in fantasy imo; and I think it's pretty clear the Chargers see him the same way since he's already playing the most snaps on the team of any WR despite being on the team for less than a month.

I think anyone who's been able to pick up Danario so far just got a winning lottery ticket.
Is this a joke? I started this whole thread. I've been starting him last 2 weeks. I was just laughing at the other people whose analysis of danario was "nothing special"
My apologies, I read your post as if you were upset that you didn't have him on your team. I'm happy to discover you're enjoying the ride as well
No worries. I thought maybe you were joking. Lol

Saw several fantasy tv guys talking about how you would have to be really desperate to start him this week and dont chase points. :hophead: If you watch the games it is very easy to see how ridiculously talented this guy is, if he is healthy he should be in your lineup.
His 2nd TD catch was amazing! Only two concerns: can his knee holds up and can Rivers avoid being terrible all the time?
I think that turner and rivers are realizing that his height advantage and natural abilities make him a very inviting red zone target. In my mind the biggest challenges with danario after this week are going to be staying healthy and how he responds to what will surely will be added defensive attention starting next week. He will likely draw the oppositions top corner week in and out from here on in. Another concern I have about him is that while I think he is immensely talented I noticed that he is not very quick off the LOS and lacks suddenness in his cuts. Takes him a bit to get going but what he lacks in suddenness and speed he makes up or with height and leaping ability. What to do with this kid in a dynasty league. That I the question. He is definitely a keeper but long term the knees still worry me.

41 yards in the 1st quarter ... if he can get through this game healthy and if the Chiefs stay competitive enough to let the Chargers throw in the 2nd half he'll have a breakout game.
The 41 yards should be enough to park Meachem's ### on the bench for the rest of the season (where it belongs).
If DA stays healthy, he's a viable WR3 from here on out.
Why do people post this garbage? Anytime some guy has a few catches he's labeled a "WR3" ... I swear there are 40 "WR3"'s out there. At 9 points in PPR, even if he maintains that, it's around 61st on a per game basis, which would be a WR6.This guy was a free agent two weeks ago. Each team has around 5-6 WRs, right? That's around 180 WRs currently on NFL teams. After 3 catches when he was facing the 5th CB on every play you're insinuating he's suddenly in the top 30 WR group. Get a grip. There's nothing to see here.
Gotta bump this post becasue it has so much awesomeness in it.
:goodposting:  That last catch was Beastly. That catch won me my matchup and the weekly money as well, Boom baby!

DA is now a regular fixture in my lineup going forward.

Just enjoy it while it lasts.

Wow! Thank you to everyone on this thread. I won 2 games by one point each as a result of this guy.

So annoyed with myself I didn't bid more FAAB in my Dynasty league, I made the mistake of thinking there'd only be me in for him.

Do people think this guy has the possibility to be a Keeper in 3+ Keeper leagues?

Started him 2 weeks in a row now in 3 leagues, winning big thanks in large part to his production. How many of the critics from page 1 & 2 do you think had yesterday set as a reminder on their outlook to write back in and say told you so? I'm the points leader in my big league & DA helped me extend my lead by a sizable margin. Can't imagine why some people would argue so hard against this guy. So what if he gets hurt down the road (speaking from a fantasy prospective), if he wins you a couple weeks, thats enough value to warrant taking a flier on the guy, no?

Yeah if Ed Reed is out this week I am definetly starting Alexander over Nelson. No Question about it. otherwise its a toss up.

Reeds appeal will probally be heard before this Sundays game. I mean does anyone think that the NFL will not suspend him .

Under the collective bargaining agreement, Reed may appeal his suspension within three business days, and an expedited hearing and decision would come down prior to Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. Reed's appeal would be heard by either Art Shell or Ted Cottrell, who are jointly appointed by the NFL and NFL Players Association.

He totally is still a pretty good play. Reed isn't what he once was and that Ravens pass D has issues even with him in the lineup.

Reed won appeal so he will play. Still think Alexander will be a good play
Agreed. I love Ed Reed and he was once a truly great safety. He's not that guy anymore. He gambles way too much. This is not germane to the Alexander discussion, but the whole suspension is the latest ### for tat between Harbough and the NFL over the injury report. Earlier this year the league fined for not disclosing Reed's torn shoulder. He missed no game time and practiced fully every day. So the next week Baltimore tripled the size of their injury report, including injuries from earlier in the season that were no longer an issue. On at least two occassions Harbough publicly ripped the NFL and it's policy. Next thing you know, Goodell is suspending Reed. Off the hook pettiness all around./hijackIf you own Danario he is a must start IMO. For comparison sake, I am playing him over Desean and Torrey.

I've got the 1st waiver priority in my league and I finally decided to snag him over Hillman. Reed or not, I'm starting him in my flex spot over SJax. I can't imagine DX sustaining these numbers but ill play the match ups with him. You can't deny the targets he's been receiving and the great plays he's been making out of short passes.

ya i think hes a play over colston
I think I'm doing the same. Colston's targets have tended to be pretty low in most games when Graham is playing. Especially against a stingy Niners pass defense, it's a recipe for a clunker. Danario is coming off 11 targets and 7 the week before. You have to think he's a lock for 8 or so targets, and he'll catch 6 balls for 100 and maybe a TD.I'll be surprised to see Alexander ranked higher than Colston in the FBG rankings or other rankings, but I think it's the right play.

Seriously considering starting him as my WR3 over Colston. Insane, but tempting.
I've waffled twice with the same decision. As of now I put Colston back in. I've been killing myself with these decisions this year and seem to pick the wrong one each time. Crossing my fingers I get it right this week.

Rivers is definitely a QB that goes to the hot hand. I'd be worried about Danario the week after he has a bad game, but no reason to go away from him til then.

I've found that the more I waffle the worse I do. So I'm sticking with DA over Colston. (Also benching Brees for Peyton FWIW as I don't expect a big game from the Saints this week)

I've got him in the starting lineup and I'm keeping him there.

Thoughts on the matchup at home vs Baltimore?

East coast to west coast can be a tough road game for many teams.

And 8-8 can get an AFC team in the playoffs, the Chargers know that.

Trap game for BAL?

Aj green will start for me, but seriously considering DX over Marshall and Julio Jones.. need to see if Cutler is playing...

Decided last week at the final minute to put Julio back in my lineup over Danario. Cost me the win over a divisional foe and almost certainly cost me a playoff spot in the process. He'll be playing for me this weekend as I need the possibility of a monster game.

I think that after last week the chargers are figurin out how to use DX. High back shoulder throws where he can Ho up and get it with his 6'5" frame. Juno balls in the end zone. Create 1 on 1 matchups for him and exploit those advantages whenever possible. The kid has hands like glue.

I can't think of anyone in the ravens that can cover those types of plays against a wr as big as him. Unless they roll coverage his way all game. Which is possible but I don't think he has garnered that type of respect...yet.

“I’ve just come out and worked hard every day at practice to get on the same page as Philip (Rivers),” he said. “I’ve been able to stay healthy, and I feel like finally my talents have been able to show on the field.”

Alexander’s history of knee and hamstring issues is well documented. But now that he is healthy, he’s showing just what he’s capable of.

“I’d say I’m an eight of 10 in terms of health,” he said. “I’m still a little sore getting into football shape. I did miss about six weeks and didn’t have a training camp, so I’m feeling the effects of that. But other than that I’m feeling really good.”

When asked about Alexander, head coach Norv Turner couldn’t stop praising the wide receiver. He broke down why he is so dangerous and why he’s had so much success.

“Danario is a tough matchup for corners because he’s got a good combination of size and strength,” said Turner. “And he’s got good foot-quickness. So if they come up and try to press him, singled-up he can get over the top and go make plays. So now they back off a little bit and he’s got enough quickness to separate away. And he’s done a nice job on the routes that he runs well and we’re looking hard to add to that repertoire of routes that he runs well. He’s been here a month and he’s played in the last three games. He’s been a big help to us and he’s been a big help to Philip.”

Of all Alexander’s supporters, perhaps no one has extolled his virtues more than his quarterback. That being said, even Rivers didn’t know just how good his new receiver was until a week ago.

“He has been awesome,” said Rivers. “I didn’t realize until about a week and a half ago that he led the whole country in receiving in 2009. He had 1700 yards or something and 109 catches or something like that at Missouri. He has had those injuries with his knee and hamstring and things that have kept him from really getting in a rhythm and flow with an offense. I think he fits our system great. He is a big target that can really run. He is good after the catch. He has been a big pickup for us and has fit in nicely.”

Although he’s only been here a month, Alexander has seen enough to know he wants to stay with the Chargers for the long haul and make it his home.

“I just want to keep playing every week and doing what I can do,” he said. “I’m loving it here in San Diego. Hopefully if things continue this way, I’d love to stay here.”

I think I've added DA 2010, 2011 and now 2012.

It's bugging me that the Saints did not take a shot at him after losing Meachem. They even brought in Moss for a tryout but they couldn't take a flyer on Alexander. Big miss for a lot of teams actually.

Even with Reed playing still starting DX over Nelson.
lol mistake
I struggled with this last week, though I didn't have as good an option as Nelson - Denver was a worse matchup going into the game than Baltimore, at least statistically and personnel.I also like that this game is in SD instead of Baltimore. Not saying bench Nelson for DA by the way but this might be beyond matchup.

Still thinking DX over Colston today. It could come back to haunt me, but I'm liking the matchups and riding the hot hand. Predictions for today: - DX: 7 for 115, 1 TDs- Colston: 4 for 43, 0 TDs:hawkscreech:

I am starting him in one league over Julio and D. Moore. In a second league he is on the bench, but I am starting Megatron, D. Thomas and Cobb (we get return yds).

Well, I missed Colston's TD, but was otherwise awful close:Colston: 4 for 36, 1 TDAlexander just didn't have the opportunities today -- with the Chargers up, Rivers didn't throw a whole lot. I don't think Danario had a catch in the 2nd half (he had a couple short ones in OT).DX: 5 for 74Maybe Baltimore won't suck so bad next time, and similarly maybe Rivers won't get sacked on every single third down.

Seems like a WR3 with lots of upside. Good to see he's helping Floyd more than hurting him. SD still a mess though; prob be the last season I own any of these guys until some major changes happen.
