Deadly Animal Draft (1 Viewer)

yeah i'm sadly thinking this is done for the night.who's bigjay?
I don't know, but at 5:40 AM he's going to have this as his pick.
:rotflmao: excellent.even pgreen's kitty would have a chance at taking that out.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves...
pgreen had Snoop. I had the kitty. And it's the most dangerous kitty on the planet. You may not have seen into my draft strategy, but I know exactly what I'm doing. Assuming my 2nd-round options make it to me.

i believe it. i'm focusing on a team concept. i do not understand your strategy....yet

Downside

How important a role with the Sea Creatures play in voters' minds?
Not a downside in this voter's mind. The earth is 2/3 water, and the Great White has no competitors in the ocean. He is far more dominant over all other sea creatures than hippo is over land creatures. Having great white on your squad means you win the ocean regardless of the other team's three sea animals.I love gepetto at this pick.
i have a couple picks that i think would more than rival the great white.
I do too. But I like to rely on VBD. Thus my pick of the Great White- who easily the most widely recognized killing machine.

Not even the fiercest in the ocean.

If BigJay doesn't show I'm bored enough to take his spot. And I have the steal of the draft ready in the stables.

Who determines what animal wins? Is it solely up the commish?Nevermind......I see that they are going to get voted on in a poll.

Rules say we must wait for bigjay. I have a proxy pick for PoolShark, if he's not back. Commish likes proxiesOne question, tho: pgreen - Did you eat a bunch of asparagus?

The Earth may be 2/3 water, but the draft is 5/8 land. A GW can get no more than 3 kills per competition. And w/r/t "and the Great White has no competitors in the ocean," hmmm...you should spend more time watching nature shows. ;)

Particularly since the Great White can't.... well. No talking about sleeper picks, eh?

 Still, I DO think it was a solid selection at 1.2, since some of the sea's other titans will be available later. It's all about value, baby.

Whenever I eat a lot of asparagus I pee green for a day or so.

put a sock in it cat boy.

Sperm Whale? Might be a decent pick if lots of others had mid-round selections of small, docile, sea-dwelling creatures. But really, all it's got going for it is size. It's got some teeth, but mostly doesn't use them, and there are plenty of documented reports of this whale being attacked by smaller sea creatures. Kind of a "gentle giant," but without the size of some great whales.I don't agree it's only a threat to plankton, but really, kind of an iffy pick at this point. As the largest toothed whale, it's got menace factor, but in practice, the SW just doesn't walk the walk (or, swim the swim, as the case may be). (Edit: though, in fairness, you might be able to quote some cool Moby **** passages in your guy's defense.)

Personally, I think the elephant is the steal of the draft thus far. Nobody, but nobody messes with the elephant. Sure, it might not get into the most fights but they wouldn't be worth its time. But the bottom line is that the elephant doesn't any gruff from any other creature.

Nope, having the elephant on your side in a land scrum is the wisest thing to do. And they can get plenty angry too.

Nice pick.

Actually, there are a few creatures that kill elephants... like... well, again, we're not talking about sleepers.

One nice little hint to drafters (since I will be one of those voting) is to include a link or two to pics or stories of your animal kicking some nature butt. What have Sperm Whales killed, other than boat loads of plankton?

I'd tell you, but I fear I'd be giving away sleepers. See for yourself by doing a google search. It's not tough to find info on whale diets. (Spermies aren't the plankton straining type, though, FWIW.)

i agree. this is what i plan on doing as it will be voted on. you might as well show why you made the pick based on massive killing sprees and the like. i obviously gave the hippo picker a lot of good info in the original thread.

In defense of the Sperm Whale: The mighty sperm whale is the largest of the toothed whales, weighing in at an average of 40 tons. They can dive deeper than any other whale and their main prey is the giant squid. Their only natural predator in the oceans are packs of orcas. They are highly intelligent and use clicks and whistles to communicate with each other. It is also theorized that they can use bursts of sound to stun their prey. The story "Moby ****" is based on a true story where a male sperm whale destroyed a whaling ship. It's a brute. Not the meanest of critters but definately hard to handle in our death match scenario. Gentle giant my ###, piss off the mighty sperm whale and prepared to be swallowed whole!

PoolShark is up.Sea creatures are going fast. Are there less of them and are limited much like RBs? Are there more land animals to choose from?I don't know. But my deadly combo is still on the board, and my shocker sleeper pick that i'll most likely do in the 5th round or so will all but seal the rest of these teams fates.

Kindly refrain from mentioning undrafted critters.

I have been holding this pick in my pocket a l;ittle while, wanting to hear some discussion on the sperm what pick (I trust you fixed the broken link). I also recommend that drafters add their justification to their priginal pick, it will help you when the polls are made.

So selecting, by proxy, for PoolShark.

He has made an excellent pick, one I might have considered myself: the evil, malicious, wantonly destructive, ill-tempered, nearly blind White Rhino .

I agree, sea creatures seem to be at a premium. I think there is a more distinct line between most of them, the top line ones are heads and shoulders above the later round picks. Kind of like TEs but with more impact on the game IMHO. Sperm Whale vs. Great White? Bring it on sharkie.... :boxing:

Excellent pick. I thought about it myself. The lack of vision will ultimately be its downfall, however.
