Our next pick has been PMed. Not sure when Sonny will be back, but I will be leaving work in a few minutes. I should be at puter by 5:20 EST, about 1/2 hour from now (in case our selection is faulty for some reason).

By proxy:

With their 6th rd selection of the Deadly Animal Draft, Team Poolshark/SonnyLubick take...

Bubo Bubo...also known as the...

The Eruasian Eagle Owl!

This is not your local barn owl, friends.

While many here have gone with the easy selection of largest birds ...what's been lost in that practice is the cunning, marksmanship and elusiveness of the wise, old Owl.

Scavengers of a feather will flock together, but the Owl sits atop the predatory bird food chain...a HUNTER, in the purest sense. Yes, eagles, he will hunt you down, too...by air, if necessary.

Foxes, look out...you are on this LARGE OWL'S menu. And deer, hide your fawn...or Bubo Bubo will snatch them from the fields. Oh yes, he will...documented.

Lastly, please note that the Owl's nocturnal ways were also a consideration when making this shrewd pick...as the rest of our bloodthirsty team sleeps, the Owl will have his radar on, wary of sneak attacks ...or late night snacks.

Good night, Bubo Bubo!...and WELCOME!

Bubo, etc.

:rotflmao: I have this picture of the owl attacking Wolverine while he is sleeping. The owl is clawing away, trying desparetly to kill the formitable beast. After hours of work, the Owl takes a break, since he hasnt even woken Wolverine.

I appreciate you taking care of that for me. I got in just as you were posting thanks.I did want to add something to the description:
If it is caught and eaten, it has been known to inflate after it has been swallowed, killing the predator, and then gnawing its way out of the stomach. If this doesn't work, the predator will die from the toxin.BBC
Thats the kind of kamikaze give it all for the team effort we're looking for. You think you've eaten him and then BAM! he's going alien on you!

I'll take the BURMESE PYTHON (Python molurus bivittatus).

Among the largest pythons, Burmese Pythons can grow to a length of six meters (20 feet), with almost 400 sets of ribs. The largest ones are always female. Burmese Pythons are typically 18" to 24" long at birth. The female is capable of depositing and incubating up to 100 eggs. The female will gather the eggs together and coil herself around them to keep them warm. She has the ability to raise her own body temperature and does so by making her muscles tremble. The Burmese Python is the only snake who is capable of doing this and the increased body heat helps to keep the eggs warm enough to develop properly. The eggs hatch in 55-60 days. Although the female will never leave the eggs to eat, once they are hatched the baby pythons are on their own.

Pythons kill by constriction, crushing their prey. In the wild, their diet is extremely diverse. They've been reported to eat such things as birds, rats, monkeys, deer and even porcupines! The prey is swallowed whole and digested while the python basks in the sun, which keeps its body temperature high enough to be able to digest properly. Burmese Pythons are able to swallow their prey whole because of their hinged jaw which actually separates and allows them to intake something that is five times as wide as its head. Even though they are often docile in captivity, they make poor pets because of their huge size and unpredictable behavior.

Edit to add: Almost as valuable as the anaconda and the reticulated python, but way later.

So tired of hearing this. Neither of these snakes is CLOSE to the Anaconda. "Elephant Killer" guys. That's not what Python means, that's what Anaconda means.Ta-dow!

Blue Whale sucks him up and directly into the belly, puffer says fine, finds a soft spot and starts working his way out. He gets out and now the Blue Whale is bleeding out like he was belly shot. I could see this getting gory. The puffer will purge if need be to keep eating his way out. He's in training with the FINGERMONKEY! right now getting his head right.

You still have my next pick, commish. I'll be real surprised if someone takes it. (Although I have been surprised by this group before...)

Hootie the Blowfish gets spit back up onto dry land where Chimpy makes a tetherball out of him.

THats a lot of eating for such a small small fish. Barely a fish, more like a minnow or sorts.

I see truth is coming up soon. Did he PM his picks to you cos? Looks like he finally fell asleep from his Deadly-Animal-Draft-all-nighter.
No word from him. Not the first case of "animal draft syndrome" we've seen. Are you going to help him out?

Are you going to help him out?
Hadn't planned on it. Not his teammate, only helped that one time and only after he let me know which picks he wanted. We'll see how it plays out. Maybe he's at the Russian Draft site doing research! Not even sure what he needs at this point. I'm assuming a Russian Bride and a bird?

Not sure, but Page one has it all.

Sounds good, write it up and link it. Thanks
pgreenfan is the lucky recipient of the weedy seadragon.Their hard, armor-like skin changes it’s colour to match it’s surroundings and is made of bony rings that despite making them slow moving through the water, helps protect them from enemies. This effective way of disguising itself has meant its survival over the eons. Weedy Sea Dragons grow to a mature length of about 18 inches (45 cm), eat tiny zooplankton until they’re big enough to tackle mysid shrimp and breed in early summer. They are found in offshore reefs and kelp fields, sandy bars and sea grass along the Southern Australian Coastline including Port Phillip. Not to be confused with their cousins the seahorse, Weedy Sea Dragons have long narrow snouts and do not have prehensile (gripping) tails – using theirs for steering and manoeuvring around the water (at speeds up to 300m an hour!).So keep your eyes open as you’re out on the water or swimming in one of Melbourne’s beautiful beaches as you might just bump into the State’s famous local!

Much has been made of "value" in this draft. "I got a smaller hippo several rounds later" and such. Well, forget it. How about an animal with ALL of the offensive qualities (and defensive qualities) of a 2nd rounder, in a separate species with no terrible disabilities? I give you...

Hapalochlaena fasciata

The Blue LINED Octopus. Different species entirely, so don't pull that on me. Thank goodness you called the name blue ringed octopus, followed by the species name - Hapalochlaena lunulata. It is bigger than mine (shut up) but I find that to be bad - because yours cannot be swallowed by the Blue Whale, while mine can - and then can stop its heart with a neurotoxin.

Good luck, boys.

lol @ the concept of killing a blue friggin' whale with a few inches worth of poison. You might numb a tastebud.
