Denarius Moore - CIncinnatti Bengals (2 Viewers)

Does Ford probably coming back this week affect how you feel about staring Moore against the Pats?
a little, but I think the pats defense is bad enough that there will be enough to go around. plus, they may limit Ford's snaps/role since its his first game back from injury. I am starting him with confidence and am thinking OAK/NE is gonna be the highest scoring game of the day.
Additionally, no team facing NE in 2011 has less than 40 drop back snaps, the ball is going to be in the air and more 3WR sets will be common this week than the yearly trends addressed above.
I am not buying into the assumption that Oak is going to be throwing the ball around. Oak will stick to their very effective ground game for as long as they can. With that assumption and the fact that Ford is playing, I think D Moore owners, such as myself, have to reduce our expectations. Oak is likely going to use Ford, DHB, and Moore in a WR rotation. The glitch in my thinking is that NE will likely be able to move the ball in the air against a weak Oak secondary. If NE starts scores points frequently, Oak will have to abandon the run for the pass. I am likely to use D Moore as my WR3 but I am still debating.

Judging from the preseason, the Oak secondary was awful, but last week against the Jets, they looked much better. S. Routt has been solid all year, and rookie Chimdi Chekwa filled in nicely for CJ37. Look for Chekwa to start opposite Routt this weekend. That all being said, this defensive secondary hasn't faced a prolific passing offense like the Pats. The Raiders also will probably get back hard hitting safety Mike Mitchell, and should be pivotal in stopping Gronkowski. It is still an enormous challenge, and even moreso if Hernandez can play. I look for this game to be a high scoring game as both teams trade points for points, blows for blows. I think the Raiders will try to control the clock and the ball by ramming it up the Patriots middle with DMC and Bush. The best Raider defense is keeping Tom Brady and his high flying offense sitting on the sidelines. In any case, D. Moore will be used often in this game, because the coaching staff is always looking for mismatches and they have one in Moore that will pay off in spades. The Patriots are 32nd against the pass and 10th against the run. I think the high rush defense rating is partly because teams choose not to run at them when they are performing so well through the air. So in that case, the rush defense is overrated, and DMC, Bush and Co. (who put up the most rushing yards on Rex Ryan's Jets in his coaching tenure) should be able to run all day on the Pats defense. It should be a run to the set up the pass type offense. Even if Campbell's throws are limited to say 25 attempts, there should be some "take-it-t0-the-house" plays in store. Of those, I'd expect Moore to be a big part. Looking for WR1 numbers this weekend on a handful of catches. (i.e. splash plays)

Good points. I'm back to the same WR3 decision as last week. Start D. Moore, L. Moore, or Julio. All with big upsides but D. Moore's I think is just a little bit higher...

I'll guess around 4-5 receptions for 80 yards this weekend, with a good shot at a score. Can't turn down this matchup.

Ford coming back scares me. Belichick focusing attention on Moore and forcing DHB to beat them scares me. The Pats offense scares me.

These three things in tandem make me nervous about this week. Even though I love what I see from Denarius, I'm tempering expectations a bit, at least heading into this matchup.

But can NE focus attention on anyone BUT DMC?

:goodposting: I'd imagine BB has the Pats D primed to stop the run and dare the Raiders to beat them with the pass. At best Campbell and the Raiders passing game isn't up to the job, at worst the game turns into a passing shootout which should favor the Pats.

The Pat's great offense and the Pat's terrible D is a good thing. I think this may be another shootout which would be great for Moore.

Agree on both principles, just don't think it will be very long.Halftime scores in NE's first 3 games:14-7 vs MIA20-7 vs SD21-10 @BUF (with 21-0 lead)Then they score a bunch more points after that. I don't see the OAK D being substantially better or worse than any of these previous opponents.Moore's performance, like all fantasy players, at some level will be dictated by game flow. If the Patriots jump up big early, probably a huge game. If the Raiders can ride McFadden and Bush all game long and match the Patriots scoring prowess (highly unlikely, IMO), then Moore's numbers will most likely disappoint.NE sucks against the pass (32) and is solid against the run (10) not because they truly have a huge disparity in talent/schemes against both but because when you're up big on everybody, they pass the ball against you and abandon the run. To whit, the Patriots rank 21st in YPC against the run @ 4.3 ypc and if teams were up on them pounding the rock late in games, this number would probably be worse. Couple it with a 31st ranked 9.0 yards per passing attempt and this is just simply not a good defensive unit.I'm expecting points all over the scoreboard for both teams, who know where and how they will come but in a game of opportunity, Moore against a potentially historically bad pass D is +EV for me.

Ford coming back does worry me...have been contemplating Moore vs. Moore (Lance).

With Dez out, one of them or David Nelson is getting the call this week.

ford will play in the slot. dhb will be the no1 and moore will be on the opposite side on almost all passing plays. not worried at all about his snap count.

It's up to Campbell to get him the ball. If campbell is smart, he ignores DHB and feeds Moore & Ford.

Question: Matt Waldman gave a sneak peak at his rookie ratings a while back. IIRC, The Dragon was one of 2 rookie WR's that he gave top marks too -- is my memory correct?

There is no way BB will focus attention on Moore unless he read this thread and has drunk the DMoore Koolaid. Don't get me wrong I am a believer, but why would BB ignore one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL to focus on a guy whose played in 3 games? My guess is the evil genius figures out a way to put 12 men in the box to stop Run DMC.

well heyward bey has 9 targets this yr, despite playing over 90% of the snaps in the 2 games he was active for.

In the RSP he was one of the two "Star Potential" WRs listed. Waldman was all over him right away, so I'm giving credit where credit is due here.

His gameplan will be to be to stop the run and allow his offense to win a shootout. The last thing he wants is the Raiders eating up a half quarter a possession. He will force Campbell to throw and hope he makes mistakes.

And all of this is under the assumption that the Pat's defense can stop McFadden and force a shootout. In which case there is no contest, but Moore's chances of a big game shoot up. I just don't see this getting past "stop McFadden". BB will plan to stop him, good luck with that. McFadden is in his own world right now and the game has slowed way down for him. Shootout or not though, I am still starting Moore with confidence. The Raiders have done something this year that I didn't think possible....Get their play-makers the ball. Jackson knows that Moore is going to give them a chance to win, and I believe they will have more ways to get him the ball this week, than they did last week. Doesn't matter to me who is coming back from injury this week, the kid is a playmaker and I only think Ford's return will give him more space to get free. Jackson will get him the ball.

çStarting RCB Ras-I Dowling (hip) and backup CB Leigh Bodden (groin) will not play in Week 4 against the Raiders, and nickel CB Kyle Arrington is questionable (chest).New England already allows the NFL's most 20-plus yard completions, and losing 2-3 of their top cover guys will hurt. Denarius Moore is a must-start WR3 with this news, and is also worth a look as a risky WR2 play with upside. Jacoby Ford (hamstring) is questionable and is still an inadvisable play coming off a two-week break, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him produce if he can stay on the field. More reasons to start Denarius this week.

 So you're saying he's going to be one of the top 8-12 WRs?

Just to give an example of where his value is in a dynasty league I was offered Santonio Holmes and a 3rd round pick for him yesterday. I thought about it but turned it down. Go Denarius!

Dang. I am surprised his value is here already.
they are trying to nab him before his big performance.i am not worried about ford or dhb returning. dhb can draw any coverage and moore can have his field day. watch and see :boxing:

Starting him over Santana Moss and Percy Harvin. Last week was wait-and-see week.
I have been contemplating starting him over Santana Moss, as I feel his upside this week against the Patriots is off the charts. I just don't know if I can do it. Moss has been super consistent WR2 numbers (PPR) dating back to late last year, and he's always on the field. Moore should get plenty of snaps today, but I just don't know if i can risk it. I'm rolling the dice in another league and flexing Moore over J Best. I would start Moore over Harvin in a heart beat, but S Moss is tricky. Best of luck to you. Signed, chicken shyte Moore owner.

i dont think id start moore over best but thats just me. he usualy excels when playing on turf ( minus the turf toe)

As someone mentioned above...I'm absolutely torn on Wayne vs Moore today.

Yes Wayne is safer...but my big toe twitches every time I think about Moore against that crappy NE defense. Add to the situation the fact that the Patriots will inherently put up points...forcing the Raiders to score more.

Come to think of it I'm also debating Campbell over Romo for the same reasons mentioned.

These next 20 minutes are going to be gut wrenching.

I am playing Moore (and Rice) over Wayne... but I am also playing the other undefeated team - which is better than mine - and will need all the upside I can get to pull this one off.

Right now, going with Holmes over Moore (squeaky wheel gets the grease plus primetime game). However, what are people's thoughts on how much Moore bumps up if Ford does not go? With flex lineup, can monitor the late inactives to make the call.
