Denarius Moore - CIncinnatti Bengals (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld:

ESPN's Paul Gutierrez believes Denarius Moore could be traded if the Raiders select Clemson WR Sammy Watkins in the draft.
Gutierrez called Watkins "Moore 2.0" and hinted the Raiders are fed up with Moore's inconsistency. Moore also may be surplus to requirements. Oakland added veteran James Jones in the offseason and has two young breakout candidates in Rod Streater and Andre Holmes in need of snaps. Moore finished 2013 with 47 catches, 695 yards, and five touchdowns in only 13 games.

For most teams, I think a 4th for Moore might be a tad high. But CAR needs real NFL wide receivers, they should jump on Moore for a 4th

Randy Moss in his prime was only worth a 4th. Moore is worth a 7th.

Seems funny to me that a team as bad as the Raiders is worked about having too much talent at any position.

Some revisionist vision going on here. Moss was said to be way beyond his prime when he was traded for a 4th. He was traded for the 7 overall pick, a 7th rounder and Harris in his perceived prime.

In (perhaps) the deepest class ever, why waste a 4th on Moore when they can pick from a deep lot??
Because Jericho Cotchery is their #1 WR. Even if they burn a 1st or 2nd on a WR, they are going to need another one, preferably one that has played NFL football before.

Draft probabilities by position

Excerpt:

Observations:

• There is virtually no difference in the results of drafting wide receivers between draft selection ranges 1-13 and 14-24

• Despite having one of the lowest percentages of five-year starters with selections 1-13, wide receivers have the third highest number of rookie starters

• There is a large drop-off in the percentage of five-year starters after selection #24 but wide receivers taken with draft selection ranges 25-46 and 47-73 are about the same

• Selections between 115 and 187 have probably the lowest probability of success across the board
Boom or bust: A look at draft probabilities

I don't disagree that giving up a 4th round (or even a later pick if possible) would necessarily be a bad idea for a team like Carolina. Moore is somewhat of a known commodity, and he is acclimated to the NFL game already, whereas a rookie draft pick from the 4th round onward has a high probability of either busting, or taking a few years to hit their stride. I would suggest that even with this being a deep draft class (with a number of underclassmen making up this class, who may be harder to project their likelihood of success and longevity in the NFL) that trading for Moore isn't a bad option.

I would want to interview and meet with Moore prior to trading for him to attempt gauge his current attitude and work ethic, as he has been very inconsistent, and I would want to evaluate if he has the desire to tap further into some more of that innate talent that he has flashed so far.

they can draft more than one WR - again, if they acquire Moore, then it won't be for a 4th.

also, they have already added Avant and Cotchery - yes they stink. but why acquire both of them if they were going to trade for one?

I don't think it would be for a 4th either. As a Raider fan I would be ecstatic to receive a 5th round pick for Moore. I think all if this Moore trade talk is contingent of the Raiders drafting a WR in the first couple of rounds.

I'd like to see Moore on any team OTHER than the Raiders before we assume he can't play.
Perhaps your right. But he can't even stay on the field let alone make many plays. Overrated from the get go.
:lmao: He wasn't even rated from the get go. He was a FA pickup in most leagues. I love the haters with these flier type players.
meh he was pimped incessantly all over the place as a sleeper.

as evidenced by this 31 page thread.

Peruse it and discover how hyped he was.

Yes, here. On a FF message board. Where we love us some hype train. Across the league or across the hobby, no he wasn't hyped. Ever. Only by a few Raiders beat writers then it took off in this thread. He had no expectations coming into the league.

I think that (guessing anyway when Sabertooth was using the term "overrated" he was referencing the FF community, not the NFL.

In any case, my post was directed at FF players.

Andre Holmes up; Denarius Moore down in OAK

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Andre Holmes "seems to be" passing Denarius Moore as the Raiders' No. 3 receiver.

James Jones and Rod Streater are 1 and 2. Holmes came on strong in the latter half of last season, wrapping up his second NFL campaign with 25 catches for 431 yards (17.2 YPR) and one touchdown. He was Oakland's best receiver over the final month. Moore is entering the final year of his rookie deal. The coaching staff has tired of his inconsistency. We wouldn't be surprised if Moore was traded this summer. Holmes, 26 years old and 6-foot-4, 210, is a deep re-draft sleeper and savvy Dynasty league hold.

I seriously doubt that Moore drops from at the depth chart past WR #3 heading into the season. Updated depth charts in June aren't really worth much. We'll see how it all plays out in camp, but I'm skeptical of this "news" of Denarius tumble down the depth chart.

Anyone heard about Criner? I heard he was climbing the depth chart?
Criner had a great practice last week in the media session of OTA's FWIW. So he's got that to build on. But the latest scuttlebutt is that the Raiders may only carry 5 WR's on the roster this year. If that's the case, it puts Criner and Brice Butler on the roster bubble, outside looking in. Training camp will shed some light on the Raider's WR pecking order. It's very hard to get a good read in shorts and jerseys.

This news actually doesn't surprise me at all. I have been down on Moore for a while now. Way too inconsistent. He will play great for a few weeks and then disappear for a few weeks. I'm starting to get the impression that the coaching staff is frustrated with Moore's inconsistency. I also wouldn't be shocked if they try and move him if Little plays well during preseason.

Moore is playing on the final year of his contract. The time to move him if at all was before or during the draft. Right now, he'd be worth a future 7th rounder, 6th maybe. His production on the field is worth far more than that. And as for Greg Little, I can't ignore his horrendous PFF scores and drops. Also I hear from numerous sources, mostly Browns fans, that Little is usually catching everything in sight in May and June, and the pads come on and it's a different story. Moore might never reach his ceiling that the Raider coaches hope for, but I think too many are so down on him that they ignore his stable floor. And for all we know, Greg Little could be a mirage.

I think bringing in Little was for enough depth that Moore could safely be traded - although I agree the best time would have been pre or mid draft. I think they still trade DM once someone is interested enough to pay for his upside. If they don't find a partner, I suspect they keep Criner this year, and so Moore and Little play for the 4th spot of 5, or if/when someone gets hurt they keep all of them. But everything I've heard feels like they think Streater and Jones are more reliable and Holmes has more chance of a consistent upside, and those guys will be the starters in 3 WR sets.

Me too. Still the most dangerous guy they have.

I don't think Moore has a stable floor at all. Too inconsistent to have a "stable" floor. Greg Little may or may not turn into much. Sometimes getting a second chance is all a player needs. We will see in time.

From my vantage point the best looking player on the field today was Denarius Moore. He was doing what he is known to do from time to time which is make tough catches look routine while showing rare body control and hands to pluck passes out of the air and away from defenders.

Moore had two nice catches today including one in which he looked to be covered by the 6-3 Keith McGill but just as the ball arrived, he leapt up and plucked the ball away for a fantastic catch along the left sideline.

For all the hate Denarius has been getting lately, there are reports that he's the best player on the field in the recently completed minicamp. FWIW.

Moore has always been the best player on the field...at times.

That's the point though. He will look great one moment and not so great the next moment. Hence the frustration and inconsistency.

Denarius Moore - WR - Raiders

Denarius Moore is listed as a third-team wide receiver on the Raiders' first depth chart of training camp.

We'd like to see deep threat Moore traded to a team where he could be more useful. We're hopeful that will happen around final cuts. Moore is with the threes opposite Juron Criner, behind starters Andre Holmes and Rod Streater. James Jones and Greg Little are listed as Oakland's second-team wideouts.

what's the deal with this guy?

been holding in a few dynasties, but i'm getting ready to move on.
Like the post above you, maybe it's best for everyone if Moore got a fresh start somewhere. Like Cleveland maybe. I still think he's got a lot of talent and untapped potential. Whether or not it's all Denarius's fault or the coaching staff can't get thru to him, he's still young and I wouldn't give up on him yet.
