I have felt that way about 1 or 2. With 1000s of songs available it is easy to have one or two slip by your notice. I am pretty sure that I am going to mulligan my 1977 pick if the song I want is still there. Also, after this draft I am strongly considering spending some hours correcting the dates of the songs in my iTunes list. I find it exceedingly annoying when a compilation album lists the song's release date as the year the compilation was released rather than the year the song was released - that and the dates are often a year off.

12.05 Candlebox, "Far Behind" (1993)
In a musical year that was fairly low-yield in terms of my personal taste, I went for a semi one-hit wonder with that tastiest of musical hooks: an immediately recognizable opening guitar riff that you can sing along to (if you have a little bit of vocal range). This "post-grunge" offering also features an outstanding drum part and blends very admirably what a lot of the songs of this period attempted: a softer, melodic portion (usually the verse) with a harder-rocking chorus. Could have benefited from some backing vocals, but those weren't generally on offer during this period. Holds up very well for an example of a now-dormant genre.
12.xx James Taylor, "Something in the Way She Moves" (1968)
In another year not brimming with material that has not already been selected, I'll take one of Taylor's earliest and most-neglected hits. This for my money is his best guitar offering in his stable, with an amazing fingerpicked part later backed by a pedal steel that slides along in the background. The stripped-down sound emphasizes the achingly perfect lyrics about the grounding ability of a loving relationship - I think almost everyone can relate to "And I find myself careening/Into places where I should not let me go" - and near vocal perfection.

Gotta get some Modest Mouse in the juke. I like other songs from other years better but it just didn't work out. This is my favorite from Good News... I still haven't listened to the 2015 album but I have not heard good things

Liked these guys when they first hit the scene - good debut album. Always thought they should have been bigger. IIRC, their debut album was the first one by Madonna's label.

I'm out of likes. MGMT is Wesleyan. My friends live there and they're cool. I love 'em. They (MGMT) spent all Halloween doing an underground basement party centered around a remix of the Monster Mash by Pickett. For twelve hours. Rave on. Noice.

Oh, okay. I think Powerline is a 1995 album that should be on Spotify for the big mix. It should be The Spaghetti Song, but it was called simply "Spags" in '94. Dancing French Liberals of '48. The Spaghetti Song. It should be there, if not, I'll redraft.

Nice call! Not the label's overall first record, which was _Erotica_ I believe, but definitely its first big commercial success, going 4x platinum. _Jagged Little Pill_ swiftly blew that away.

Crate digging exercises like this really expose some of the gaps in Spotify's catalog. They've got new releases covered well except for a small number of major artists but there are a bunch of records from this draft era that have fallen off the grid because of rights issues.

After much deliberation and soul-searching, I would like to formally change my stance on the number picks each day. Even though I don't contribute much to the thread beyond my picks, I really enjoy all the discussion and listening to songs I haven't been exposed to before.
Mr Commissioner, please note my flip-flop - I like the slower pace of 2 picks a day.

Yup, four a day is just too rushed, particularly with a three-day weekend coming up. I'd really like to us scale back to two for Friday through Monday and then see where we are.

Today doesn't seem rushed to me at all. I think there is more conversation when picks are made. Of course that is just my opinion. JML asked yesterday about if people who want four picks a day just want to make their picks or are they also adding commentary and listening to the songs, and I think that is a strange question coming from someone that lives on autoskip, and isn't here that much. I also notice that some that have fallen behind have been around over the last few days and have been posting in other threads, but just not posting in here. That's their choice.

This is just one of those situations where someone proposes Idea A, I counter with some reasons why Idea A doesn't seem the best, and the reactions against my contribution are more rebuttals to my CounterIdea B than defenses of Idea A - - I haven't really heard one yet. Obviously i totally disagree, although i will admit they are a different on subsequent albums.
They make more traditional pop music after Melody A.M and bring in a plethora of the best female Scandanavian vocalists ie Robyn, Karin Dreijer Andersson, Lykke Li, Susanne Sundfor and Anneli Drecker.
The Understanding and Junior are more upbeat, while Senior and The Inevitable End are waaaaaaay more depressing.
I barely listen to Melody A.M anymore, I'm much more into Junior and TheUnderstanding.
Each to their own, I'll be drafting one from them soon though, funnily enough one that isnt on any of their traditional albums.
