I dropped a note to Eephus, I am working on a variation of this with only 1 artist as much as possible - along with either strong influences on the artist or artists that he influenced or that maybe has covered one of his tunes. I haven't gotten too far into yet, other than spreadsheeting all of his songs by album and year.

I think I can do two versions - one of softer, ballad stuff, lighter pop and then some rock/harder tunes. Still have to lay this out more.

I will post late in the draft, don't want to highlight or create more work in the draft spreadsheet.

I went to see NC State play earlier today in Raleigh, and my nephew found a new girlfriend.

After the game we went to his brother's recital. He is 13 and plays drums, and he drummed to the song Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Two girls did a rendition of a Smashing Pumpkins' song, and they were really good. One girl played guitar and sang, and the other played drums.

My sister found out today that her husband tested positive for CDiff. He is so sick, but is a bit better than yesterday. His intestines are still twisted, and they may perform surgery tomorrow. We'll see.

Are you having drafters remorse? You can always take a mulligan after the draft. There are so many songs I want to draft in the 70s, cause I love the decade of music, and so many genres in it. In '76 I ended up going with 10cc, cause I think it represents 70s pop well, and I didn't think anyone would put it on their jukebox. I also wanted a song from '76 from a band that begins with a B, but didn't do it. Still want it on my jukebox. Wouldn't mind having a specific disco song from that year too. Can't have them all.

In '76 I ended up going with 10cc, cause I think it represents 70s pop well, and I didn't think anyone would put it on their jukebox. I also wanted a song from '76 from a band that begins with a B, but didn't do it. Still want it on my jukebox. Wouldn't mind having a specific disco song from that year too. Can't have them all.

I wouldn't call it remorse as I definitely love my Death pick, but there's a yuge hit from 1976 that escaped my mind.

Masterfully sung electropop ballad that finally persuaded me from not taking a catchy hit from an artist I already selected. A rumination on the sad life of a party girl originally written to be offered to Beyonce or Rihanna, Sia Furler sang it herself and enjoyed by far her biggest success. The mix behind the vocal manages to straddle the line between pure EDM and a nice mix of piano and guitars. For my money this is as good as a vocal on any Adele song. I substituted out of 2015 so this will be the most recent song on my juke.

A terrifically sung dance hit from Swedish producer Avicii that somehow manages to effect a seamless blend of electronic music and country behind a wonderful doubletracked vocal (with a fantastic harmony) by "Man of Constant Sorrow" remaker and Allison Krauss collaborator Dan Tyminski. There's no real bass and the percussion is probably a program loop, but there's enough guitar and synth parts to make the song interesting even without the lead vocal.

This will probably get me thrown out of this thread, but Tom Waits is a sham. His early stuff - before he decided croaking was the best way to "sing" - wasn't bad. The music behind him is ok, but the "Hey, man, you just don't Get It" from big fans is silly. I get it, alright.

You don't like it cool but he's about as far from a sham as you can get.

Here are a pair of picks from a show together in the late 90's. My opening pick is a band I'd never heard of before this show, and have since become one of my favorites. A Boston band, who at the time were only a trio (since added a fourth) and I loved the way the drummer played mostly bongos and cymbals and other percussion instruments. They can't be that bad, they have made it onto two Keerock Christmas albums!

1999 - Guster - Barrel of a Gun

They opened for The Barenaked Ladies. One of my favorite shows I'd ever gone to. Unlike a lot of bands, they just seem to be having fun on the stage, interacting with the crowd, and not taking things too seriously. Unfortunately, they took a turn down in 2009, when Steven Page left the band. He has such an incredible voice, and lots of their songs are duets, so if you lose one of the voices...
