DI Jukebox Draft (66-15)- Listen up (4 Viewers)

No sure what pick this is. According to my notes I owe 11 picks to get to 50, or 5 to get through round 22 tonight. I'll sort it out later. For now here is round 22, pick 2.

20.2 - Beg Steal or Borrow by Ray LaMontagne, 2010

Isn't that Peter Green though? He and John Mayall pretty much defined white British blues in the late 60s.
To quote George Carlin

White people got no business playing the blues ever, at all, under any circumstances. Ever, ever, ever. What the #### do white people have to be blue about? "Banana Republic ran out of khakis"?

"The espresso machine is jammed"?

"Hootie and the Blowfish are breaking up"?

####, white people ought to understand their job is to *give* people the blues, not to get them. And certainly not to sing or play them. I'll tell you a little secret about the blues: it's not enough to know which notes to play. You got to know why they need to be played.

Touch choice in the year of punk. So many directions to go. I'm gonna go with the crusty old miserable dudes in the corner jumping on the bandwagon.

Little lady
With Dingwall's bullshit
You're so stupid
Foetid brainwaves
Little lady
What really happens?
When you see mirrors
You get the shivers

Aaaah!

Making love to
The Mersey Tunnel
With a sausage, have you ever been to Liverpool?
Please don't talk much
It burns my ears
Tonight you've talked for a thousand years
23b.17 - The Stranglers - London Lady - 1977

I have work tomorrow. Its a make up for a snow day and most kids wont be there. I plan to have all the kids update the sheet. I know its late in the game right now, but I want that sheet complete. WOLVERINES1!1!1!1!1!1!1

Cant tell you how much I used to love the Misfits. What a great band. I like Danzigs solo stuff also. Was great when that sicko in 8mm was listening to it at his house.

Sharing the first 20 rounds of my "play at home" version of the official game.  I am trying to go with one artist & closely related artists/songs.  I am working on two lists - one generally softer music and the other is generally a little to a lot faster/harder.  The intent is for each list to complete the 50 years with 1 song per year.

My artist is no suprise to most here:  Todd Rundgren

Almost 50 years in the recording business.

The priority for selection is - Todd/Utopia/Nazz doing Todd/Utopia songs  >  Todd/Utopia doing covers > Other artists doing Todd songs > Songs directly related to strong Todd  influences/connections (similar artists or artists he has produced) > Songs/groups with similar sound or secondary connection to Todd as reflected at Allmusic/Last fm.

Sorry for the messed up formatting, I don't know what is going on ...btw for indulgence purposes I linked the Daryl's House "Wait for Me" version with Todd - its not available on Spotify that I can find.

1979 TV is King - The Tubes

The Tubes

Todd co-wrote this song, produced the album, played guitar/keyboards & vocals

Gotta say that I am surprised (pleasantly) that a couple System of a Down songs, and more so a couple Marilyn Manson songs were taken in this draft.

I have probably taken this in another draft too, but I need something off my favorite Who album.  I still don't know how Entwistle's fingers didn't fall off during this song...

23rd(a):  THE WHO - The Real Me (1973)

LINK

Nice choice.  That album seems to get skipped over for the two before and after, but I love South of Heaven just as much.
South Of Heaven got me into Slayer. It's legend. The problem is that Rubin slowed them down and then they finessed their sound for the next two albums.

Wow, haven't thought about those guys since...well about 1989
They were big in the UK for their 1st album. Their 2nd album was an example of dimishing returns. Their 3rd continued a decline in the Uk, but for some reason they had a massive hit in OZ with the 3rd album "Permanent Shade of Blue". The first 2 albums and every album since in oz failed to make the top 100. Cuddly Toy the song only made it to 70 something there.

At this point, I have no idea what else to pick for the years I'm missing.  Some years are evidently a music wasteland for me.  I either need to go early or do without.

It's a bit depressing.

I am sure others have ideas for you.  Maybe PM someone who has similar tastes as you?
