I've always wondered, why a razor?
Seems like some clippers with no guard or a 1 guard would be a lot less hassle. I guess I've never really thought about it, but there doesn't seem much difference in the smooth cue ball and the slightly fuzzy cue ball.

Razors are expensive and actual shaving is miserable (to me).
The razor definitely cuts much closer than the clippers with no guard, for me. I have darker hair and it starts to grow back relatively quickly, like a 5 o'clock shadow on my head, so the shortest I can get it, the better it looks for longer (longer being a relative term, like 2-3 days).

Cost is a main reason why I started using a DE safety razor rather than a cartridge razor. Bought a decent weighted razor for like $40, and you can get 50 blades on Amazon for $10 (and probably cheaper elsewhere if you skimp on quality). That's like $0.07 - 0.10/shave and if you keep the razor itself in good condition it'll last forever. One of the best moves I've ever made.

Target right now to show it off to all the housewives.
single guys, Target is a target rich environment if you're looking for a date
This is accurate. One time saw this beautiful woman near the candles so I went over and picked 3 decent ones and did the "can you help a single guy pick out the best smelling one for my place?" Then did a sniff test with her and some flirty banter. I asked for her number with a "you need to test this out with me when it's lit" and she blushed and smiled and played with her hair, but ultimately said she's in a long term relationship with someone but was flattered. I said "the good ones are always taken...tell him he's a lucky guy" and went on my way.

Yep, Great Clips, 2 on the sides, 3 on top, fade it high. $18 haircut, $2 tip.

Geez my guy, not even 20% ?
Not sure what the barber/hair stylist equivalent of spitting in your food is but if he returns to this person he's going to find out.

Getting butchered at Great Clips is probably punishment enough.
You guys are funny
I know you don't want to have to bring more than a $20, but give them $25 next time (20% tip for this service is the minimum)

Thanks for the life advice

Just paid $40 + $20 tip for a great fade and cut. Gonna make a return to Target right now to show it off to all the housewives.
Whoa $20 tip???

You’re making some of us look badly.

Mine's $35 for the cut, $10 for the beard, so with tip it's up to $60. Supporting local business and someone I hang out with a few times a month so I feel it's worth it.

Right, with those two services it makes sense.

ETA: I'm not advocating for less than 20%. 50% just seemed to be setting a high bar.

No kidding. My 6 year old just got his haircut at a hipster barbershop. $25 and I gave him $30. Looked at me like I shorted him. $2 probably would have steamed the beanie right off his head.

No -- I'm another member of the shave/buzz club. I feel like this is kind of a small life-hack for guys. One less thing to worry about zero daily maintenance.

50 bucks. 10 dollar tip. Same guy for maybe 5 years. Once every 2 months or so.

Unless you are just using clippers on one setting I don’t see how people are doing this themselves 😂
