Dolphin Players bullied Jonathan Martin, Richie Incognito SUSPENDED (1 Viewer)

Am i the only one who doesn't think the texts are as bad as i was expecting given the huge whirlwind on espn etc? Maybe somethings wrong with me but i just don't see the threats. Taken in a vacuum they seem bad but put together with the pictures together, the birthday well wishes, the shout outs etc, it seems like he was busting his balls. Overdone yes, very immature yes but im not seeing the omg here.
Using the N word DIRECTLY at a black player... and to have it on tape where other black players will hear it? Yeah, I feel pretty confident in saying that Richie Incognito will never play a down in the NFL again.

LeBatard basically saying Incognito who fancies himself a leader and also a little nuts basically did a Col Nathan Jessup if you are familiar with that character in A Few Good Men...Incognito went to the coaches and said that Martin is soft or perceived as soft, coaching staff said to toughen him up. So now Incognito was ordered to toughen him up perhaps especially after Martin was crying about being bullied to the coaches. Maybe the coaches thought Martin was soft.

Also saying this phone call that is now on the internet that Philbin didn't have that information back in April.

Fascinating, I think it might be far fetched but i think there are details about this we have no idea about. None of it will excuse INC and none of it makes anything that happened to Martin less wrong. Goodell is gonna have his hands full with this.

People spending their time blaming Martin... "He should have just slugged them", "Have tougher skin", "Just avoid them", etc. Classic victim blaming. God help your kids if they ever get bullied, hurt, abused, and they turn to you for help.

Good for Martin for standing up for himself in the great American way- through lawyers. The team ignores his pleas for help? Meet me in the courtroom. Martin can do 10x the damage here without throwing a single punch. So actually, he IS fighting back. I hope they throw the book at Incognito hard enough that his head comes clean off.
Nobody bullies Steve Smith anymore. Pop a guy in the soup coolers during a film session for making fun of you, word gets around.

Have any of you put the cheetoh bag down long enough to play organized ball? Rookie hazing has been going on since they filled Jay Berwanger's leather helmet with a healthy handful of Burma Shave. Granted, I was just a punter and didn't get the level of hazing that the lineman did to each other, but I saw my share.

If it were up to some of you, Ralphie in A Christmas Story would have run crying to his teacher instead of laying some jabs on the bully. No wonder kids these days don't stand up for themselves. They're taught it's better to hide behind your mothers skirt than growing some balls and ending the bullying yourself. Martin is just the latest example of the generation of daisies that permeate our landscape these days. Grow a pair, Nancy.

How about the assumptions that he can extort $$$ from rookies? Telling the local media that THill will just buy them jet skis and he'll do it with a smile. How about telling Martin he had to pay him $15k for a Vegas try martin was skipping?

C'mon, you don't think Martin has some sissy in him? You think he handled this well?
So you either get in a physical altercation or you're a sissy?
Wooooo dude....you have to read my posts. I said "I'm not saying throw down with the maniac..."I mean none of us know how Martin tried to handle this previously, but start at standing up for yourself and telling the big dope "hey I'm here to play football, leave me out of your bull####". Or, if you're so terrified of the guy being dangerous like some others are suggesting (which I think is ridiculous), how about knocking on your coaches door, or general managers door?

If the guys first defense was to run home to mommy and daddy, then I don't care what any of you think, imo he's a sissy. A sissy that I do feel bad for, but a sissy nonetheless.
do you know he didn't go to the coaches... is the first instinct that martin is guilty until proven innocent, and sort the facts out later?
I'm just going off what I've seen and heard and read.
understood.impotant aspects of the case have only broken In the last 12 hours.

details are still emerging.

does it seem unreasonable to wait for more information before passing judgement on and name calling martin?

Like i said in a vacuum that sounds bad and i agree it does but i don;t know how he and his group talked and interacted with each other. Pouncey was one of his running mates.

Right when Incognito popped the N word, this stopped about being "bullying".

All jokes aside, the NFL is a workplace. None of what I've heard so far would be tolerated in any office setting.

Guy doesn't have to pay it, i mean hes a grown up. If someone in your office tells you, you are paying 15 grand for his trip to Vegas you'd tell him to f off.

How about at 6'5" 315 lbs telling Incognito you can have my $1,500 when you can ####### take it from me.

Right but that's how "I" would but I cannot assume he operates the same as I do.

His knickname btw was Big Weirdo

Thats what i keep telling people being extorted. That dude with all the Z's in his name with the baseball bat is all talk. Just explain to him that you aren't going to be bullied.

I agree. ESPN loves this drama. To ESPN using the n-word, making fun of someones sexuality, and bullying someone are worse than killing someone. All very bad things that I do not support, but there is no doubt ESPN is making this seem far worse than what it is. If you just red the headline you would think Icognito was a member of the KKK that really was plotting to murder Martin.

I can't speculate what Martin should do, he didn't so we have to accept what Martin is feeling.

When he texted "I'll kill you", it stopped being hazing.

Theres a larger narrative which needs to be discussed on the subect of hazing, but that has nothing to do with the Incognito situation

The media as I was referencing earlier, Quez, outstanding points.

I've mentioned this earlier in this thread. Martin went to a private high school in a rich neighborhood and to Stanford. I doubt Incognito would mess with a rookie that went to Compton High and to Stanford like Richard Sherman.

Yeah, too bad Ralphie couldn't get his hands on an AR15 with a 50 round clip. Then he could have sent a message to every bully in that town.

Did I slip into another time? Is it so difficult for people to treat others with respect? To treat people the same way they want to be treated? Anything else is just wrong.

So size is the main determining factor as to whether extortion threats will work?

Gee, maybe that's because Steve Smith is a bully. Surely you're not suggesting that the NFL or the world would be a better place if everyone acted like Steve Smith.

I realize its 2013 and guys are wired different, but too bad somebody didn't step up and take Incognito's head off years ago.

Beasley saying the Incognito father stuff is pretty true, seems credible. Philbin conference is gonna get ugly today.

Says there is major drug use by Incognito/Pouncey and perhaps Martin, both parties are pointing the finger and that info is being leaked everywhere.

odin lloyd and the two people that argued with hernandez in the nightclub weren't nancy boys.

You mean like the kid that ended up rolled up in the wrestling mat, the kid at my college that died from alcohol poisoning, or the ones at my high school that were victims of sodemy?

:lmao: I just saw that ridiculous Incognito commercial the Mia team has playing about being a civilized fan?

Others are being irresponsible for not calling him a sissy when we don't know what happened?

is that your point?

The level has been set. Dolphins should face as stiff a punishment as the Saints did for bounty gate
You're right. But when Miami fires Ireland and Philbin, what is there left to do?
Incognito gets the Vilma treatment and several other players get fines. Can't remember if the saints were docked any draft picks
They lost a 1st rounder
No, they lost two 2nd round picks.

Tug of War brewing about Martin's potential lawsuit and his parents. Miami has to tread lately here because if they do not pay Martin the rest of his money they likely are gonna get bent over the rails by lawyers who will line up for days to take a big juicy bites out of them.

Non-inury list allows Miami to not pay Martin, his parents won't stand for it as reported form Adam Beasley-Miami Herald.

Ancient civilizations used to fight to the death to settle their disputes. That would stop the bullying....when did we get to be such pansies that a punch in the mouth was enough?

The wussification continues...
