In other news you may have missed, JFK got shot and man landed on the moon.It was so awesome not knowing who Cliven Bundy was until just now.
Leave it to FFA to bring me the news so that I can pretty much skip the "political moments du jour" threads.
Jims 1 through 10.Pretty close vote so far. But who are the 11 people who say that neither one is racist? (I know who one of them is, but who are the rest?)
I don't know, but I would guess there is some overlap with the same group that says Obama is The Worst President Ever.Pretty close vote so far. But who are the 11 people who say that neither one is racist? (I know who one of them is, but who are the rest?)
No one suggested it. That's why I asked the question. Just seems people are getting a little carried away calling for the guys franchise to be pulled based on a private conversation recorded, presumably without his knowledge.Link to anyone suggesting either of these guys should be locked up for their comments? How long before the thought police start locking up the racists and homophobes?
There are other questions that no one suggested that you also could have asked, such as: When will johnjohn and Eminence get married? And that question would have made about as much sense as your question did. The fact that no one suggested something doesn't give you the right to ask anything you want.No one suggested it. What was I thinking? Thanks for straightening me out. Tim, in you opinion, who's a worse person Donald Sterling or Roman Polanski?Actually the question of Eminence and johnjohn getting married makes MORE sense the one sublimeone asked.
Regarding that marriage question BTW, in this one instance I agree with Eminence 100%. Let them get married. But don't let them have children.
Sorry but I made a promise to the mods that I would never again discuss Roman Polanski in this forum.Tim, in you opinion, who's a worse person Donald Sterling or Roman Polanski?Actually the question of Eminence and johnjohn getting married makes MORE sense the one sublimeone asked.

Yeah, its just schtick. <_<DiStefano said:Frankly, I'm tired of the whole racist schtick.
3,000 @ $40 per ticket, that is $120,000 per game. I am pretty sure that decision is a very high level call.avoiding injuries said:Assuming that's all he did. Clippers owner Donald Sterling, accused of racism and embracing a "vision of a Southern plantation-type structure" in a lawsuit filed in February by Elgin Baylor, will be given a lifetime achievement award next week by the NAACP. . . .
Leon Jenkins, president of the Los Angeles branch of the civil rights organization, says of the much-maligned Sterling, "He has a unique history of giving to the children of L.A.," revealing that the owner donates anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 tickets a game to youth groups for nearly every Clippers home game.
Noting that the NAACP had made plans to honor Sterling before Baylor filed suit, Jenkins says, "We can't speak to the allegations, but what we do know is that for the most part [sterling] has been very, very kind to the minority youth community."

Not to mention Clippers tickets weren't exactly a hot commodity. Through 2011 they had made the playoffs 4 times in 27 seasons. Running what amounts to a BOGO promotion on tickets that were very unlikely to sell is a little different than giving away $120k per game. But the kids would need to be accompanied by a parent who would buy their own ticket and pay for parking and any concessions/programs etc3,000 @ $40 per ticket, that is $120,000 per game. he is not a racist, check out the extortion threadSo is a little racist like being a little pregnant?
I agree with with this. I also don't feel bad for Rivers, Paul or any free agent who signed with the Clippers. They knew or should have known what kind of man Sterling is.Wilbur Wood said:The harsh reality is that David Stern repeatedly turned a blind eye to racist transgressions from Sterling in the view of some due to their shared religious affiliation. Silver will be forced to act harshly but Sterling should have been out of the league long ago.
Nice, you set up the counter argument as something that was never said and call it a joke as if that accomplishes anything. The only joke is you wasting your time making things up to try to win an online argument.Yeah all you meanies, let us hold on to our old beliefs, like the fact that those with colored skin are somehow less than human
what a joke

Exactly....degrees of racist is beyond dumb IMO. And those wanting to focus on the chick "outing" him are rather incredulous as well. If I'm trying to figure out a guy's character, I'm looking at what he says behind closed doors over what he says in the spotlight. Pretty much a loser any way you slice it....both of them. However, theSo is a little racist like being a little pregnant?
your scathing retort has caused me to rethink my views on racial equality, well played sir, well playedNice, you set up the counter argument as something that was never said and call it a joke as if that accomplishes anything. A few things:Another federal lawsuit filed in 2003 by the Housing Rights Center and 19 tenants accused Sterling of once stating his preference not to rent to Latinos because “Hispanics smoke, drink and just hang around the building.” The lawsuit also accused him of saying “black tenants smell and attract vermin.”
The allegations included Sterling’s properties not renting to non-Koreans in Koreatown or African Americans in Beverly Hills.
According to the lawsuit, Sterling believed Korean-American tenants “will live in whatever conditions he gives them and still pay the rent without complaint.”
