DONE DEAL: Randy Moss to Vikings trade (1 Viewer)

Right, because the Patriots would've gone from one and done to SB champions last year if only they had Seymour.
Nobody will ever know... cuz Ray Rice blasted right through that anemic dline (Between Symours spot and Wilfork) and their season was over. Demoralized.Heck you can even watch the replacement RDE whiff on him.
Yep. Foolish Koolaid drinker Patriot fans are certain it was brilliant - but all it did was help them get run all over last year in the playoffs. I bet no actual Patriot players with Ray Rice footprints on their chests thought dealing Seymour was a good idea.It would be poetic if the playoffs this year they need a long pass play...but no Randy Moss.

This is a terrible on field move for the Patriots. Bottom line. The guy occupies double-teams and opens up the middle of the field against most defenses. Statistical production or not, he's a game-changer.As a Patriots fan, I can't stand this trade.
wasn't it King that tweeted last night that there isn't any way the Pats would do the deal if they thought it would cost them even one loss this year?

:goodposting: Awful. That is an ego maniac cutting his nose to spite his face. Moss is Elite and a huge part of why Welker is always open. Now what do you have? The Pats do not have the defense that won them titles with guys like Givens and Troy Brown. Not even close.Bad trade and as a Dolphins fan i am thrilled.

Another silver lining is now we get to find out how much Welker benefited from Moss on the other side.I know the answer but I hope Welker's production does not get hurt with teams being able to focus their number one CB on him now.Crap!!!
I dont think that matters welker will get his

What the Pats say to guys like Peter King and what they KNOW privately are often two very different things. This is the Patriots we're talking about.

Yep. New England Patriots are the NFL draft pick world champions.

dont stop him now; he's rolling. :goodposting:
I don't expect Patriot fans to know much about football. It's cool.
:lmao: You're the one that thinks Richard Seymour is the difference between 0 playoff wins and a ring.

Watch some football. Seymour is a shell of his former self.

It's cool.

Not to mention the Patriots don't tell Peter King #### anyways.

yeahwhen it comes to evaluating the patriots I don't trust Peter King.

Brady is NOT Favre. Brady had 1 great season and that was WITH Moss.

Brady is a very good game manager going forward. Elite status no more.
Someone just stepped into the theater and yelled "FIRE!". :goodposting:
Leave it to the butthurt PIT/IND fans to turn a Randy Moss to MIN thread about Brady. :lmao: Yeah Brady sucks, he can't even have an NFL record breaking season without a good WR.

:lmao:

So no Defence, now losing Moss, and the Jets looking like the better team in the division. This could hurt the Pats playoff chances.

The thing that bugs me most is that the Patriots might have gotten a 3rd/4th round comp pick if Moss left as a free agent at the end of the season anyways.

NFL GMs never seems to amaze me. Randy Moss isn't worth a 2nd rounder? There are so many teams that should have been willing to pay a 2nd for him and deal with his contract problems and age. I bet less than 30% of 2nd rounders drafted are even still on rosters, and of those drafted next year, maybe 2 will have the impact Moss will have over the next 3 years.

Haha. Yeah, he only won 3 SBs without a good WR.

I thought his was about STATS. (And FF directed). I hadnt taken a side regarding that, but thought it an interesting "take".But I did expect some explosive retorts ... thus the :lmao:

Outstanding trade for the Vikings. They paid a modest price to get a stud player who addresses their most glaring need. My hat's off to them. They went out and aggressively addressed a huge need and have potentially put themselves in the driver's seat in the NFC. They now are one of the few top NFC teams who can run the ball, throw it and stop the run effectively. From a fantasy perspective, it's a ginormous boost for Favre obviously and I think it's huge for Moss too. He now becomes the unquestioned No. 1 WR on his team, will receive a ton of targets and get plenty of looks downfield from Favre. Plus Moss owners get him for an extra game to boot.

Wow. I'm still stunned this happened.

is this one of the biggest in-season trades ever in a league where that kind of stuff almost never happens in season?

As a Saints fan my feeling about this trade is one of disgust.

FF-wise:

Maybe I've missed it in lo these 13 pages but I'm surprised that no one's talking about how the guy to get now is Favre.

TY sharkpool! Waivers passed, at the 13th spot I am now a Brandon Tate owner. Dropped Demaryius Thomas for him. Good Luck all that put in a claim. Already have Hernandez.I'll be so disappointed if Taylor Price takes over for Moss.
stayed up till 2 am CST when all waivers became free agents, got Tate for Demaryius THomas... :)

:goodposting: Never saw this one coming ......

per Jay Glazer:

In the end minny decide to get deal done 1st, talk contract numbers after. Simply wanted to get him there ASAP so he can be ready for mnf.

There is no doubt the Patriots won 3 SBs without great WRs. Brady was a big part of that. This, however, does not make him an elite QB without Moss.Moss leaving hurts Brady's numbers. That was my point. But, if you'd like to continue to try to make it something else. Have fun.

I assume the issue wasn't the draft picks, but rather his long term contract requirements. I heard on the radio this morning he wants a long term (not sure how long) contract at "market value" with a no trade clause. I don't disagree that plenty of teams should have been interested, but do we know that other teams even knew he was on the market? And do we know if the Pats restricted the teams to which it would trade him (e.g., not AFC teams)?

Sad thing for your team is that Ted Thompson is not willing to do this. Suddenly, the Packers are no longer the favorite in the Norris. Lynch would have looked REALLY good in green.Rock on KUUUUUUUUUUUUHN!

On the other side- Moss will be 34 in 5 months- Favre will retire for good after this season

Hernandez played flanker a lot on Monday night. I was at the game and was expecting him to play in the slot most of the time, especially since Keller torched them. You have to think that the Patriots were making sure he could handle the flanker position.

The Vikings had to make this move. With Favre showing obvious signs of decline - compounded by Sidney Rice being out - they needed to do something. The price they're paying for Moss is far more palatable than what the Chargers wanted for Vincent Jackson. And IMO even though Moss isn't the same as youthful Randy, VJax still can't hold his jock.

As a Packer fan, I'm not thrilled with this move. Particularly when paired with TT failing to get M Lynch.

The Herschel Walker in-season trade was probably a bigger deal and radically changed the landscape of the NFL for several years afterwards.

Yup. Ted Thompson is the least aggressive GM in the league and that's been a major problem in my opinion throughout his tenure. He may have cost his team a shot at the Super Bowl by his non-action this week. And now his chief rival may have passed him by doing what he refuses to do.
