Down 1.15 pts with 2 to play (1 Viewer)

easy win right?

Warner and Fitzgerald compined for .65 pts and I lose. Warner -2.44 and fitz 3.01. Couldn't catch a break. Started Pitt Def instead of Ariz at the last minute when I thought snow would be a factor. #######' Jeff Fisher decides to go for it on 4th down up 26-0 and Chris Johnson gets another score(played against him). And my IDP James Harrison comes up with a great 2.5 pts. This hobby is just sick.

The shark move here would have been to bench Warner tonight

and the tthing is I had Alex Smith on my bench...

Normally, this would be a good spot for the point to the shirt, post to the Venting thread, etc, but I am sure you speak for alot of people with either Fitz or Warner (much less Fitz AND Warner), and maybe to a lesser extent folks who needed a couple of points from Hightower or the ARI D/ST.

It was utterly amazing to watch drive after drive end in a fumble or INT or 3-and-out...esp from this offense. I thought I was watching the early season Browns.

I am sure MANY games that people assumed were safe wins were thrown off by that horrendous performance.

Sorry your season ended so suddenly and unexpectedly. I was just lucky I had a bye, otherwise I would be right there with you.

That is definitely one of the biggest kick in the nuts in FF I have ever heard of. Sure, there is a venting thread, but a kick in the balls that severe probably deserved its own thread. Sorry, man.

 I'd' consider quitting FF if I lost like that, esp. in the playoffs.

If it makes you feel any better... I held onto a 49.05pt lead with my opponent having Warner/Boldin/VD.
You know... When I posted my initial response, I hadn't really read the OP until this thing kept getting bumped (just thought it was a misplaced venting post). This is way more than that. If this happened to this one guy in my league, I think he would have punched his plasma monitor (no joke).Sorry for your loss.

I normally don't approve of people starting their own venting thread for their own particular situation, but this will probably be the only time I think a guy deserves his own thread. It was impossible to lose with that scenario and somehow you did. Amazing.

Imagine if the OP wasn't able to watch the game last night. He gets home and logs in to see who he's gonna start next week and BOOM..........no win. I'm still in utter shock that a QB/WR couldn't manage 1.15 pts. Let alone a QB and WR the caliber of Warner and Fitz.

this was my first year. I thought I had a good chance at the championship. The stiffest competition got knocked out and I had a lineup of

warner,

fitz, andre johnson,

turner(injured), LT, Beanie Wells, Snelling

tony gonzales

tynes

ariz DEF (STL and DET coming up)

I somehow knew that Jeff Fisher going for it on Fourth down up 26-0 was going to bite me in the ###. Thought I had successfully dodged the victimization of Chris Johnson but little did I know.

Bizaar scoring system. How does 22 yards equate to 3.01 points? You're getting more than a point per 10 yards for receiving (I'm assuming some sort of bonus for receptions), and yet the QB is in the negatives? Seems WAY out of balance to me.

I'm glad this miserable performance didn't affect my games (had Boldin and won by .5) but I could only imagine if I needed those few points. I would have turned on the game figuring my interest would wane after a couple of minutes once Warner and Fitz hooked one a couple of times. Then wait. Then wait. Keep waiting. Long ball to Fitz gets called incomplete. Fuming...unfortunately continue waiting until the very end because all it would take is one play then the Warner fumble..

What a tough game to watch.

My bad it was 3.10 pts. It is a ppr league. 20 yds rec 1pt and 50 yds passing 1 pt. -2 for fumbles and ints, and warner had 2 ints and 1 fumble.

Thats what I did. I have a big final this week and was planning on studying all last night once my "win" was locked up. Let's just say I didn't get anything done considering I waited the whole game and then was just in pure shock afterwards. The last fumble by boldin was unbelievable. Those two combined for 44 pts last week and .65 this week :) :lmao:

I lost as well, with Boldin and Fitz combining for 3 points.

BTW, the long ball to Fitz wouldn't have been enough to win, BUT, it should have been ruled a completion.

That's a seriously messed up scoring system. You're telling me the simple act of catching the ball is worth 20 yards of rushing/receiving production? Does anyone draft a QB before round 10?

:goodposting: Next time I lose hard-luck I'm going to remember this scenario.

Legendary loss. I think that TV show "The League", if it returns for another season, should reference you.

Andre: "Unbelievable. That game should NOT have gone into overtime. Damn last-minute field goal gave me a loss by 1 point!"

Kevin: "Haha! Tough loss man!"

Ruxin: "That's nothing. Did you guys hear about Crash last year? Down less than 2 points with Warner and Fitz to go on MNF and he still loses. THAT is a tough loss."

Andre: "Whoa."

Ruxin: "First game of the PLAYOFFS too."

Kevin: "I would quit forever."

Ruxin: "Rumor is he's in a mental institution now. Just mentioning the name Fitzgerald or Warner sends him into a blind rage."

I don't know what is more amazing, the loss or the complete lack of awareness to hedge and start Alex Smith.

Think you have it bad? The team in my league that was the #1 seed with 12-1 record lost last night on fumble by Boldin on the Cardinals last play. The completion plus yardage gave him a 0.5 point lead in our scoring system . . . then the fumble cost him -2 and he lost by 1.5.

:lmao:

Them's the breaks.

Horrible rules. How does the #1 seed not have a bye during the first week of the playoffs?

Them's the rules. We've always had an 8 team playoff in a 12 team league. You can moan all you want about the "horrible rules" (anticipating the "why even have a regular season?" comments now) but that's the way it has been for nearly a decade now so I doubt it will ever change. I know that you'd never play in a league like that. That's okay. You don't have to.

When did you become more qualified at interpreting the NFL rulebook than the referees that did this game. You've gone through the training they have?

I lost on the last Vernon Davis catch after I was sure that the Niners would just run Gore and run out the clock. That sucked. Would have won if I had benched Hightower instead of getting negative due to his fumble (which turned into a VD TD due to the inadvertent whistle). Was not very happy last night since I had the highest scoring team on the season and 2nd highest for this week.

haha... exactly ... a 13 week regular season with the sole purpose of eliminating just 4 of 12 teams with no reward for the top 2 seeds? no question i wouldn't be signing up for that

That is an incredible loss, hopefully this thread doesn't turn into a "Yeah, well, I lost because....", and the focus can stay on what amazingly bad luck that one took.

Better luck next year, you seem to have used about 10 years worth of bad luck on this one.

Yeah, this is fantasy football, not the NBA.

:goodposting: Your league is so much better than mine. Seriously, let's all be adults and stop bashing each other's league settings and return to discussing how a a historically, surprisingly poor performance by key Cardinals players ruined the playoff hopes of many yesterday.

I agree with the poster, that you should have thought a QB can go negative and think of Warners 5 picks and not started the QB and you win. Terrible management. Talking to a buddy last night about one of our league games where he had Davis and Warner and was 1 pt up. Good thing Davis got the TD or he loses. He said he would have sat Warner for the game. And I agreed. You got greedy and wanted to kill him or you would have sat. I have zero sympathy here

.... and what if Fitz got 50 yards receiving and a fumble, and warner got 1 TD pass to Boldin? Then what?

We had a guy that needed 4 points from Boldin to tie, 5 to win. Last catch gives him 40 yards on the button (he would have won the tiebreaker due to bench scoring), but of course Boldin fumbles and he loses by 2. Ouch. This guy had Chris Johnson and Andre Johnson and still lost.

Lost the Super Bowl in 06 I believe on the play where MJD ran into his own lineman, fell down, no one touched him thinking the play was over, he got up and ran for like a 60 yard TD. I'm sure quite a few people lost on that one because it was like a 12 point play.

wat?

This reminds me of the Super Bowl in one of my leagues several years back, when one team was down by 2 with Tampa's kicker going on Monday night, and the other guy was finished. Tampa kicks a fg in the 1st quarter, but there's a penalty and Gruden takes the points off the board. Gramatica ends up with only 1 XP for the entire game and the guy loses the Super Bowl by 1 point.

Well..........while not AS bad, this isn't far behind.....

Down 6 pts with DeAngelo and Longwell to go. No need to go any further......
