Dynasty Value Discussion Thread (10 Viewers)

Are we talking about the same Ronald Jones who averaged 4.2ypc as a backup last year?  The one who didn't catch more than two balls in a game?  The one who went 20/65 and 2 catches for 18 in his only game as a starter last year?

Okay yes he had a great 2020, but it was 2020.  Go back to 2019 and he's got an identical 4.2ypc.

Give me the dart throw in the 4th round.
I dont love jones by any stretch. However, not sure why you are harping on the 4.2? Henry was only 4.3 and there are a ton of quality players less than 4.2

Mixon, Swift, Gibson, Jacobs, Najeee, Kamara, Montgomery, etc. etc.

Good point.  I'll shut up now

I don’t get the excitement either. He had one of the most abysmal rookie seasons I’ve ever seen. He seemed to have turned it around thanks to Brady coming to town and taking all the attention away from the running game but then lost his job to a player that was a hair’s breadth away from getting cut from his 2nd team. At that point Fournette’s original draft position barely matters. Then he averaged the lowest ypc on his team this past season with Brady still there and found his way into the doghouse again for blowing pass blocks and fumbling.

Other than him being young, I don’t get the allure. CEH is a bust at this point but plenty of other options out there at RB especially in the draft.

Pretty much every amateur chiefs account is tweeting that within 24 hours Jones will be a chief,
Sorry man but don't ever put any stock in those kind of accounts. Like you I'm pulling for it to happen, it might, but a bunch of accounts throwing stuff against the wall trying to pretend to have insider info so people will follow them does not make me any more inclined to think it's imminent.

Value check, can you rank these guys for me for a SF PPR best ball league?

(Start 10 - QB, RB, WR, TE, 5 Flex, Superflex)

Travis Etienne

Courtland Sutton

Michael Pittman

Rashod Bateman

Tua Tagovailoa

2022 Rookie Pick 1.02

Oh I don’t either. I’m just sayin there’s a lot of RoJo chatter.

take it with however many grains of salt you’d like. :)

SF even bad QBs are valued greatly.
And Tua just got Cheetah. That has to bump him to the top of this list.

Pittman is Ryan’s new Julio

High Rookie picks are valuable, so I’ll put the 1.02 here. I don’t agree, but the value is probably here.

ETN  - again, I do not value him here because his Lisfranc scares me.  Others will though.

Sutton

Bateman

Oof, was thinking of trying to trade into a dispersal draft with Bateman or Pittman to take Tua over those other guys but this is not reassuring.  Will maybe sit back and see if he keeps falling.
The format skews it fairly heavily toward RB IMO.  5 Flex makes WR more viable but RB still more valuable.

SF value is heavily dependent on the scoring system.  Some leagues can have basically any starting NFL QB ahead of practially every other position, and some formats with more balanced scoring reduce the emphasis/need for QB.  Tua may have someone who loves him in your league so if you can move him for the value you want, I would do it.

Also not sure why it matters if you have Chase or not.
I was going to say this.  Psychologically it makes you think it matters but in the end it all comes down to which player do you think scores more.  Metcalf or Higgins and then pick that side.

ETA:  The only thing that matters about it is that an injury to Burrow damages both Chase & Higgins so having that diversification can be helpful.  But still the bottom line is who do you think scores more in a likely scenario (which means Burrow is QB'ing)

That’s one issue.

The other is if the Bengals face a particularly tough secondary, or get way up against a weaker opponent.

Diversification can have value im shielding you from any of the potential “all the eggs in 1 basket” scenarios.

Higgins Vs Metcalf is interesting because it’s kind of a 1 Vs 1a

i hesitate to call Higgins a WR2. His RL status is by virtue of being paired with Chase, but he can be a WR1 for FF purposes.

Metcalf is probably a true alpha if he gets a better QB so is still smash accept.

But doesn't having two on the same team also help prevent both having down days to some degree?  In an offense that can support a stud WR every game like Cincy this helps keep you from having two bad plays as in most instances one or the other should have a solid day.  There are pros and cons all over the place.  The bottom line is who is the better fantasy player.  Right now with the Seattle QB situation I would say it's really close.  But I would still rather have Metcalf even though it has nothing to do with having both Chase and Higgins.

Sure, but you’re also describing a scenario where every week you have 1 good and 1 bad play at WR, if it’s Chase’s week or Higgins’ week to shine.

Sort of a “borrowing from Pete to pay Paul” scenario.

Seems more likely to happen with Chase/Higgins as with Chase/DKM.

But like you, I’d prefer DKM regardless because I feel like he’s more QB-proof. But I do feel there’s value in diversification.

Last year I tried to stick to VBD in redraft. Ended up with several pairings. CMC/Moore, Ridley/Pitts, Higgins/Mixon.

And while things were going good before injury, Ridley, Darnold implosion, etc, the lack of diversification really didn’t effect me. So maybe it is overblown.

I actually like the RB/WR combo on good offenses with key pieces.  You get a piece of almost every TD (I like the QB/RB combo more).   I think there is more affect when you have two receiving pieces from the same team but when you are talking about both good to elite options (not something like Devonte Adams and Lazard) it isn't as cancelling because they both get their work.

I don't think there is a right answer and personal preference is king.

Yeah, like I said, I was doing really well with those duos - I started the season 6-0 and was the 2nd highest scoring team.

Having multiple pieces didn’t negatively effect the outcomes of My games.

Relying on Sam Darnold absolutely negatively effected the outcomes of my games.

Ok, this is *not* a small Chiefs account.
https://twitter.com/arrowheadlive/status/1507400563629117443?s=21&t=wvEEn4i_zZk7Q-saoXDNfg

”Like I said, Ronald Jones deal with the Chiefs is done, as of this morning. Team announcement could come as late as Sunday, but reports from the blue checks should start trickling in today. Rojo is an explosive runner who reminds me of Kareem Hunt in terms of rushing.”

Not sure why they’d wait until Sunday to announce a deal if it was done?

~42K follow account with a good reputation for getting stuff right.

On logic.  I know they threw in a quick blurb "oh its no problem these guys got traded to worse offenses, with worse qbs, and a totally different system than the one they've been productive in" for Hill and Adams.  Keeping them in tier two, let alone 3/4 is criminal.
Agree. Everyone in Tier 3 should be ahead of Tier 2 for dynasty purposes/values.

I don't think it did, but it could if CEH doesn't improve.  I think CEH will get a spike in receptions this year and probably have his best year fantasy wise.
Compared to being unemployed, I’d say going to a playoff caliber team with top 3 QB and only CEH ahead of him who, to-date, has been something of a bust, and a liability in short yardage is a definite spike in value.

It could get even higher if the CEH trend continues.

The Chiefs have talked up using CEH one way or another since he was drafted and it just hasn’t manifested. I dealt him away because I wasn’t a believer.  Last year & the departure of their best field stretcher does little to inspire confidence.

The proof will be in the pudding, as they say. It’ll be interesting to see how things shake out, but RoJo is more valuable today than he was yesterday for sure, and there are ~25 teams he could have done worse with than KC.

That may be true, but IMO he's a backup.  Let's see what CEH does in 2022.  If he doesn't get injured again I can see 2022 being his best year.

I don't doubt that, but at the end of the day I would rather have CEH than Ronald Jones.  Both are cheap right now, albeit Jones is cheaper.
I don’t disagree that Jones is cheaper, but he might be the shark play.

i could see getting Jones now & turning a handsome profit on him if things break right.

Can’t really say that about CEH.

When CEH starts getting a lot of receptions and stays healthy (:fingerscrossed:) you will change your attitude toward CEH.  You're going into a couple of threads here pumping Ronald Jones, and yes injuries happen that open up opportunity, but I never predict injuries.  Only a shark play if you can get Ronald Jones cheap and a 2nd round pick isn't cheap.

I sold CEH for a ‘23 1.01 (it’s my pick I bought back, and I’m rebuilding) after his amazing 2-game stretch where everyone thought he was finally blossoming into the KC stud Andy Reid heavy-use RB.

Then he became a pumpkin again, outplayed by his backups.

I was recommending buying RoJo for cheaper on rumor of this signing earlier in this topic. A 2022 late 2nd would still seem pretty reasonable for RoJo. A 2023 notsomuch.

All depends on what you think you can get in the 2022 late 2nd.

I agree it’s not cheap - that’s what signing with KC behind a (to-date) bust CEH will do for his value. As a RoJo owner I wouldn’t sell him for less, and I’d be hard pressed to sell him for say 2022 2.07 right now. Way too much upside, and I’ve held him for way too long to cash out that cheaply now when he might be worth even more with mid-season CEH injury or ineffectiveness.

Just talking value as an owner. A buyer might not value him as highly. Could be a barrier to a lot of RoJo trades.

I'd probably sprain my hand hitting the accept button getting a 2nd for Ronald Jones.  A bigger win would be a 2023 2nd.   Then I would probably break my hand.

Haha - a 2023 late second? Absolutely. 2022, notsomuch.

Ronald Jones owners who’ve held through the Arians nightmare know a pain that you cannot possibly understand.

there’s a cost associated with that pain. @rockaction knows what I’m talking about. I’m betting a late 2022 2nd would never get it done for Rock.

ps - brain fart - “recommending buying RoJo cheaper” not CEH.

Sorry, but Ronald Jones' current value is a 3rd round rookie IMO, regardless of year.  No one is going to pay a 2nd round pick for Ronald Jones right now unless something happens to CEH between now and the draft.  If you find one please post it.

As I said in the ROJO thread I would put ROJO's value on par with a high second.
That's your opinion sure and I respect it, but you won't find anyone that will pay a 2nd round pick for Ronald Jones unless something happens to CEH between now and the draft.    Certainly not a high 2nd as you suggest.  I'd be surprised if anyone offered a late 2nd.  I know I sure wouldn't.

Me. I'm that person, you found him. I don't agree with you one iota that's he's the clear cut backup and needs a CEH injury. I think it's an open competition.

I have to wait until next week when I can expand my rosters and I already know one league I'm prepared to pay second for him and will be offering it next week.
