Dynasty Value Discussion Thread (17 Viewers)

How are you guys ranking these WR:

Jayden Reed
Chris Olave
Rashee Rice

All 24yrs old, all with obvious pros and cons. Which are you targeting most if given the opportunity in dynasty?

MY Dynasty Perspective (Reed Owner)

1) GB Jayden Reed - good young QB and lots of talent on offense; promising long term

2) Rashee Rice - high powered KC Offense, but competing mouths to feed (Worthy, Hopkins, Kelce, RBs)

3) Chris Olave - Needs new offense design, QB, staff, WR2 Talent, but bad situation

I have TLaw in a 16 team SF league I’m competitive in.

I’ve been offered Mac Jones for Mazi Smith. It’s a fair offer, and I’m deep at DT.

That said I’m not convinced Mac Jones will out-score one of my RB or WRs that I can flex in.

The same team has Drew Lock, who I kinda like and should get a chance to start in week 12, reportedly. So I’m thinking of countering for Lock.

But in torn. Would either of these dudes be worth dealing for?
Anyone? Bueller? Something economics…voodoo economics? Anyone?

Only 1 right answer:

1. Rice- stud who Patrick leans on when he is healthy/not suspended. Rice was balling out this year before injury
2. Olave- took a step back this year, but with consistent QB play I like him
3. Reed- inconsistent, but could be with Love in and out of lineup it has been hard to establish connection. If he keeps pace up he could pass Olave.

I'm not following Reed's skyrocketing value. I know he's attached to a good young QB. But he's not head and shoulders better than the rest of the GB WRs IMO. Maybe I just don't get it. I'd rank them...

Rice

Olave
Reed

Any thoughts on Tyrone Tracy? What’s a fair price for him?

I’ve been told it will cost a first and a second. I’m not feeling that. I’ve checked KTC and FBG.
I don’t think a 1st and a 2nd is far off. I would feel more comfortable giving a 1st and a role/bench player instead though.

Also depends on how high or low those picks are.

A 1st would be a good starting point though

Yep. I offered a first and Jalen Coker. He wants the second.

I find that to be extravagant. They’re going to likely be picks #7-#12. I’m hesitant to part with my top two picks. This is supposedly a very good running back class, and I generally can find them even down to the second round.

Ah, screw it. I made the offer. It’s probably a bad move, but what the heck. He’s young enough and talented enough to hold the job for a few years.

Cooper Kupp price check.

I am a RB strong team needing WR help. I am 7-3 and a bit light at WR. The Kupp owner(who trades a fair bit) is asking for a 1st plus. I am willing to part with a 2nd and a 3rd.

What does the SP think?
If not from you, then probably from someone else. A first from one of your competitors is forthcoming.
This has not happened and he has tried.
He’s worth a late first from a contender.
He ended up getting a late first. Maybe I should have paid up, but oh well I will stand by my stance of not trading a 1st rounder for a 30+ year old player.
Be grateful that someone else paid that price, and spared you from doing so yourself. Feels like a deal where the person getting Kupp is going to be regretful in short order.

Both Lock and Jones are dart throws at this point. I agree, the chances that either will net you more points than a WR/RB already rostered is not good.

If we're talking about RoS, I'd assume Lock has more "value". I'm 99% sure Jones won't see the field for the remainder of the season. Will Lock show that he's the definitive starter for 25 onward? Kinda doubtful, especially given that the GIants will have a high pick in 25 and will be looking for a QB to get the ball to Nabers.

If we're talking true dynasty value, Jones probably has more value. He showed well his rookie season and then showed his A** in New England year 2. One can hope he's learned from that and can get right mentally, eventually landing on a team with a need. He's also 2.xx years younger.

I'd probably throw the dart at Lock. If he can give you 2-3 serviceable games this season, that's a win, especially for one of your bencher DTs.

2nd round picks are a crapshoot; I tend to love my 2nd round picks - but I think Tracy is the real deal.

NYG will draft a QB early, and they already have a proven stud in Nabers. A full offseason in the pros will only make Tracy even better. Don’t sweat the 2nd, sometimes you gotta pay up for a future stud.

I hear remorse in your fingers.

Josh Downs price check?
Assuming a 2nd, right? Maybe add a little something to that 2nd?
But not worth a 1st, right?

While I think he’s a good player, worth remembering he turns 25 in a week—feels very possible he came in about at his ceiling as opposed to having a deep well of untapped further potential.

a 1st feels about right in a vacuum but guessing it’s hard to get him for that given he’s young (kind of) and productive—it’s not like he’s a 29 year old burning a hole in a rebuilding owner’s pocket, most teams are happy to keep him if they don’t find a buyer etc

That’s probably right, but the status quo has shown me that he has reserves of talent most backs don’t have. I overpaid. If I had hadn’t traded Kamara at the beginning of the year because he was burning a hole in my pocket then I wouldn’t have had to do this.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If that seems flippant you should have seen me after the Kamara trade I made. I couldn’t even bring myself to talk about it. I was like the dog sitting in the burning building.

This is fine

So we’re a step beyond that now.

So, how are we feeling about Brandon Aiyuk nowadays?

Seems like he went from underrated stud, to whatever he is right now - real quick.

With the emergence of Jennings and Pearsall. Purdy’s upcoming contract. Do we think Aiyuk stays in SF?

His value is very hard to gauge right now. Which is why I’m so very curious to hear what you guys think.

Owners? What are you doing? Is anyone buying low? Anyone still have faith that he can be a semi-WR1? Ever?

Do we think Aiyuk stays in SF?

I roster him in my other dynasty league. I don’t know. Can they walk away from that contract? His dead cap hit next year is $40M. His out, according to SporTrac, is 2027. 2026 sees a dead cap hit of aoubt $14M, so maybe then.

I think the question is how he comes back from the injury.

I haven’t tried to engage the market because I don’t think I’d get anything near decent value for him. Might just be an unfortunate injury that GMs have to eat.

I’d rather see him on another team considering the talent SF has at receiver now. He still might be better than Jennings and Pearsall. I haven’t watched enough of them—and him—to know. I say “and him” because it’s really hard for a non-coach like myself to know how much of his success is due to Kyle Shanahan. Is it Shanny or just how good he is? I mean, I think I’ve only see him have one bad real football game in his career (the Jets game this year).

14 team dynasty league ... I sold Aiyuk and 2026 Projected Late 1st Round Rookie Pick for Tyreek Hill.

Other owner wanted JSN but I wasn't going to part with him. He came back with Aiyuk and with the uncertainty of the injury, I felt it was worth it.

I took the Mazi for Mac Jones deal.

Mooney’s achilles concerns me & I have a must-win this week in that league. Never hurts to have a backup plan.

Not optimistic for long-term success.
As I said in the trade topic, I like this deal for you, especially in 16 team SF leagues. It's almost always worth taking a QB dart throw if you have the roster space.

**EDITED** Thanks birdbeak! 😜

I'm throwing out lowball-ish offers for him in all my leagues. He's a talented WR and I expect him to be back in full form next season. Even with Jennings (who isn't as talented) and Pearsall, he will have the #2 locked up in a great offense and Deebo is aging and always banged up. I see a very large path for him to be successful long term.

Jayden Reed
Chris Olave
Rashee Rice

All 24yrs old, all with obvious pros and cons. Which are you targeting most if given the opportunity in dynasty?
Probably
1. Reed
2. Rice

3. Olave

Reed has looked excellent this year. Tied to a good young QB on a team that loves to take downfield shots. He’s shown he can run a multitude of routes.

Rashee is inconsistent, and while tied to Mahomes, the Chiefs just don’t throw as much as they used to, nor do they take those shots. Also DHop muddies the water a little.

Olave has talent. The saints are a mess. The concussion was scary.
Coincidentally, I was offered Olave a 2nd and a 3rd for my Reed this morning - definitely a deal that never would have seemed likely this offseason.

I countered with Olave and 2 2nds. I'm intrigued by Reed getting a higher snap % and what his ceiling might be, and also a bit down on Olave with the concussions and QB/coaching situation. I think the 2 2nds bridges that gap for me, especially since my team isn't making the playoffs.

The multiple concussions has me concerned as close to career ending or strong consideration at the view for Olave.
Where is the line in play vs living a normal life after the game?

We have seen more players step away recently due to the risk/hazards of permanent or other severe injury issues.

In Dynasty, I don't want Olave unless it is really buy low, and Reed involved is NOT Buy Low IMO.

Thoughts?

Not a sexy enough player?
He's in a weird value spot. Given his production this season, I expect owners will want at least a mid to late 25 1st and I'm not sure I'd want to give that up for a guy who might be in line for yet another QB. Lot's of risk there. That said, he might be a sneaky add for those who are fairly certain they will compete this year. He's also showed production in his rookie season. Man, now I'm starting to talk myself into really liking him for a competitor. If you have an extra or are willing to give up what will likely be a late 1st, he could be a solid add.

I like Downs, but from a cost standpoint I would rather go after Mitchell in dynasty.
I traded Mitchell for Downs straight up exactly one week ago. Would still do it but can see both sides.
Wow, good pull…would do the same. Hard to say which long term will succeed most, but would certainly take Downs at this point given the choice.
Thanks, was not really my doing so much as someone offered it and I took it from someone who is in some other dynasty leagues of mine and bought all my AD Mitchell shares from me, which was just two.

I can support an argument that AD Mitchell has more ultimate upside if it all clicks. Bigger, has a better chance in theory of not leaving the field in 2 WR sets like Downs. But AD is still a more unknown commodity whereas I know Downs is really good. He was actually my most drafted player this year, thought he was a steal where he was going and when Flacco was the QB considered Downs a top 20 WR option so it's not like he lacks upside.

What’s Tillman worth? Looking to trade for him but someone’s wanting a 2nd with a future 3rd thrown back
I got a projected late 2nd and 3rd for Tillman and a projected late 4th

Seems terrible now I should held onto him for a 1st. It's the Browns so I traded him after his first decent game. Strange dude never could get any meaningful playing time if he is really that good as he has been the last 3 games he played without Cooper here.

Amari Cooper.

What are we thinking here? My league seems to think he’s toast - I don’t. What am I missing? He was dealt for 2025 5th today. I feel like he’s worth much more than that.

I’d smash accept to pay a 3rd for him, he’s probably worth a mid to late 2nd. Can be hard to roster older guys who aren’t producing but I don’t think he’s done; his skill set seems like it would age well

apparently, Jamaar Chase is untouchable. A league mate is out of the playoff hunt and turned down my offer...

Chase (4 year contract)
-for-
three first round picks (one is top 3)

denied

I don't understand some dynasty owners.

I sent an offer of...

Freiermuth (2 year contract)
-for-
James Conner (1 year contract, also 'old' for a RB)

and the reply was, "I don't like Pat."

Do y'all reject trades that make your team better just because you don't like a player for some reason? Ok, sure, Pat isn't great and is a low end TE 2, but...

Which side has more dynasty value? maybe I'm just wrong?

Unless there is a major TE premium or I was completely out and couldn't find a buyer for Conner anywhere else, I would have rejected this offer.

Conner >>> Freiermuth, regardless of contract status.

Maybe it was "I don't like what Pat does to my starting lineup value"? But considering a contender vs a rebuilder is a key attribute on how value is perceived .

so you would make the effort to try to trade Connor?

There is a TE premium, but putting that aside... maybe I'm too aggressive in moving players too soon? I feel like it's rare for a RB to put up significant numbers when they hit 30yo?
