Had to do some googling, looks like I was a bit mistaken - I can't find a specific date as to when nominations were finalized and voting began, but the earliest articles I'm seeing about it are June 24-25. This would be a couple weeks into the womens' world cup, but a couple weeks before the final game on July 5.

So your position is that if people change their name because they want to get more acting jobs, or signify their religious beliefs, or hide their religious/ethnic heritage, or assist their Heisman Trophy campaign, or sell more rap albums, those wishes should be respected. But if they have a penis and they want to use a name that's normally reserved for women that wish should not be respected?

I feel like its gone beyond the point of "any attention is good for the cause". I feel like the Jenner situation makes it that much tougher for the next person to do this......the one that doesn't get the Vanity Fair cover story, TV interviews, or reality TV show.

I prefer to treat any individual like any of the other 7 billion people on the planet.....I don't give a flying F what you do in your private life. Making a spectacle out of this brings far more negative attention than positive to the "cause".

I watched it. But I'd estimate that 90% of the Jenner hate on my Facebook page over the last 14 hours is posted by people who didn't watch it. It's the same people who post that God is going to punish America because we as a country are vilifying the LGBT community less and less. We need to vilify them to keep God happy. If we had a volcano we should throw one in every day to keep him happy.
