This.  Waterboard.  Wakeboard.  Whateverboard.  In these circumstances, you do what is necessary, regardless of what is humane.  Far too many innocent lives at stake.

 
They were looking for a few other guys so hopefully they all get rounded up pretty quickly before they try something else.

 
pics of him on a stretcher in the daily news. he has a bandage on his arm but otherwise looks like he will survive. now we get to torture him!

 
From the camera shots on CNN and with the full beard, it doesn't look like the same guy they've been showing all morning. It could simply be my coffee intake this morning, though.

I see this guy Ahmad, lying in a puddle in a gutter, after almost killing people in 3 different places over 2 days, and I'm reminded of Sheriff Marge at the end of Fargo with the Swede in the back of her cruiser, it's a beautiful day, life is good, don't you know that?

 
I hesitate to ask... but why would they allow a bomb to go off in the middle of nyc? this seems like a pretty far-fetched scenario, IMO.

I don't want to get into Ham territory, but it's not uncommon for undercover FBI agents to "assist" wannabe terrorists with their bomb making -- helping them to find materials, giving them instructions on how to build it, etc. The terrorist thinks he's about to kill hundreds of people, but the FBI is monitoring every step and they swoop in and pull the plug just before the bomb is armed. (Sometimes they'll just give the guy a fake bomb, then they arrest the guy after he tries to blow it up.)

But what if the FBI let this guy slip through the cracks and he actually built a real bomb before they could arrest him? That might explain why they were able to find him so quickly after the explosion.

you just described all/most of the arrests made in these kinds of things, so- ok- plausible from that standpoint. but like you say- they don't ever let these people get anything dangerous if they're the ones setting it up.

IIRC, they had the Boston Marathon suspects figured out pretty fast too.... but ok- I suppose there's an outside chance it played out like you say... although I'd still say it's far-fetched.

 
Not too hard to find these guys when they are American. Not only all the surveillance cameras but they still use social media. Easy to find pretty much anybody on Facebook or Instagram nowadays. It's not like this guy snuck into the country.

nice to have some luck on our side

Two thieves accidentally helped to disable his second pressure cooker bomb left inside a rolling suitcase on....

In doing so, investigators believe they inadvertently disabled the explosive, sources said. That allowed investigators to examine the cellphone attached to the bomb intact and discover that it was connected to the family of Rahami.

From there, they were able to identify pictures on social media of Rahami's family and of him, and they matched one of his photos to surveillance footage captured in Manhattan.

In theory, as soon as he asks for it, but it doesn't always work that way, IIRC Boston Marathon bombers first request for an attorney were ignored

Ok that makes sense. I know they are going to interrogate him, but in this climate I'm afraid of the notion that he'd be protected before he would have to answer to authorities. 

 
Suspects family restaurant is called First American Fried Chicken. People are already making online jokes that the chicken there "is the bomb".

The difference between us and them is that we are not savages. We can get the info we need without resorting to this stuff.

I could go on, but that should suffice. 

 
Working today away from computers, just saw a TV with some footage of guys they think did it. If that's the case big mother####ing thumbs up to all involved. Amazing work fellas.

IDK, put me in the #### this guy camp. 

He wanted to kill anyone - children, seniors, it didn't matter. I was 4-6 blocks from there from about 2pm until 530pm with my two kids hanging with another family with two little children as well. A ton of other little kids running around playgrounds as well. Any of these families could've hit the gates and headed up 23rd St and been in harms way. 

Squeeze whatever we can from him and lock him away until he dies, his rights are out the window IMO - based on what I've read, they've got him dead to rights... 

 
Very proud of how the FBI and especially the NYPD and locals there in Linden/Elizabethtown, NJ...I salute all of you for getting this guy in custody fast. 

-Just my opinion but other potential lone wolfs will see this and realize there is no way they can pull it off and get away with it for long. They might at least think twice. 

Also boarding a plane for New York in less than 2 weeks, quite frankly couldn't feel safer after watching them work in real time the last 48 hours.

-Also though as others have mentioned, this guy might have made a lot of mistakes or was an amateur but that's likely the type of folks we are going to see try and do this the next many years. I doubt that ISIS is truly going to funnel in large cells of their folks on the other side of the planet. Instead, it's highly more likely they recruit Americans or folks who already live here. 

Either way. great job by the men and women of law enforcement and also our good folks in the FD and ERS, hats off to all of you.   

 
The suspect's family restaurant is First American Fried Chicken, which is not, contrary to what you might think, a fried chicken joint that offers banking services.

Just heard Pete Williams on NBC say that no one in the family has been arrested, so news report of illegal weapons may not be accurate.

It's also cuz some Americans have become soft toward our enemies. And we, a nation, are seen as pushovers.
