Going with "Here Comes a Regular" as my favorite from today. Special shout-out as well to "Danny's Song." I was sure I knew this but couldn't remember anything about it, until I pulled it up on YouTube to find a link. Immediately remembered the song and ended up listening all the way through (usually when I'm searching for links I just copy one and move on). What a beautiful song. I'll bet MAC has a story behind this one.

Tons today that I don't know.

It was about 4 years ago, just before covid. My wife and I had been struggling for years to provide the sort of memories for our kids we want to provide them. We made some difficult choices that would hopeful benefit future us, but required sacrifices out of current us. A lot less cash now for hopefully enough later for all of us to live the life we want to live. Then this re-entered my orbit immediately before a 5 day long weekend road trip to PA - 2 days at a lake house my wife grew up with and another 2 days in Pittsburgh. So i slid it within the mix about an hour en route to see if it would stick. By the time it came around for the 3rd time...

A lot to catch up on today - still coming down from the Eagles nail-biter by listening to the post-game on Audacy.

Every time I play this song it reminds me of Beckster* - it is/was her favorite song and she ended our first mix-CD exchange with it. Thanks to her bringing a bunch of us FFA misfits into a spin-off FF league in the late 90s, I ended up meeting a bunch of my closest friends in the the world, including my BFF @plinko (or JZilla as he's better known). I was visiting Baltimore for work (when I lived in Philly) and she somehow convinced the two of us introverted strangers to meet up and watch the Eagles on Monday Night Football at Max's in Fells Point. Beckster* is living her best life far from the FFA at this point, but her legacy lives on in the many friendships she helped create. Tear Stained Eye was a shoo-in for my list because of her.

It was.. different. Good different, but jarring for those that knew them prior. It's why I didn't choose one from this album despite it being their musical peak. My choice wasn't either of today's though. I actually don't like Basket Case and never have :ducks:

Not sure I understand some of the rulings on the albums too, but it's all birthplace? E.g. I just looked up Slash's wiki and saw he was born in England.

Along with another artist coming later on my list, JV is my favorite singer-songwriter of the past 22 years.

His quirky and alternating concrete/metaphorical lyrics are some of my favorites. And the music and production on all his albums are great---from his own Tiny Telephone studio in San Francisco.

And by the way, the rule of thumb is, if after a reasonable amount of digging, we can't determine provenance, that is in favor of having the band included not excluded. There are plenty of more obscure bands in the countdown where the information does not seem to be available.

I'm gonna stick with my statement that this was my least favorite round so far. :( I listened to the many songs I wasn't familiar with and, unlike yesterday, didn't find much I'd seek out again.

Favorite new-to-mes were the Etta James and Son Volt songs (though I didn't like the latter quite as much as the one posted yesterday). The Mark Lanegan was good, and I enjoyed the Eric Johnson song a lot once it got going. Biggest surprise was that I found the Garth Brooks song not terrible. I made it through about three minutes of it, which is 2:50 longer than I listened to one of the Kenny Chesney songs.

I'm a King Bee -- The Stone Foxes (Hawks64) -- I know the song but not this version. Heavy and freaky, very enjoyable.
Fantastic Voyage -- Coolio (Ditkaburgers) -- Slammin'.
(I'm Gonna) Write Me a Letter -- The Bassholes (OH) -- Also heavy, freaky and enjoyable.
Red Eyes -- The War on Drugs (Worrierking) -- Despite being from the Philly area, I am not too familiar with TWOD. They emerged after I stopped paying close attention to the music scene(s). This sounds like their other material I have heard, which is like a more aggressive version of the bumper music for the HBO promos of the early '00s (this is a compliment in my mind.) They are one of the few post-grunge rock bands whose songs sound like they are made for stadiums -- Coldplay and Muse are the others that come to mind.

There are pretty much no restrictions on what you can pick as long as the artist/band is American.

In your example, all the Movie Geeks need to be vetted. For material from a KarmaPolice solo album, only KarmaPolice needs to be vetted.
