Just out of curiousity over the first 2 weeks I've kept track of what the cut numbers would be for weeks 6 thru 13 (250-500-1000 etc). Interestingly there was less than 1 pt difference between any of the cut numbers. If this holds true for week 3 (and I have no reason to believe it won't) the cut should be about 137-138. After week 3 all bets are off and I'm going to be interested to see how much the scores change once we spend 7 weeks (hopefully) clawing our way thru the "briar patch".Good luck everyone.

The cut number is based upon the scoring in the NFL the more it fluctuates the higher or lower the cut number will be.Also injuries plays a key part also - Example: What would happen if two or three of the higher scoring players got hurt this week? The cut number would be lowered.

week 12 was 157.8 by my records. One thing to also consider besides bye weeks drying up at the end, is that the cut number is very dependant on the % advancing number, which this year is a little more forgiving early than in the past. Here is the advancing % by week this year:100% 85% 85% 85% 84% 82% 80% 78% 74% 70% 63% 50% 50%here is last year:100% 83.4% 80.0% 87.4% 85.8% 83.3% 79.9% 75.0% 66.7% 75.0% 66% 50%Weeks where the cut drops below 75% have been tough. 50% cuts are brutal. The key to guessing about where the cuts will be in the future can be fairly predicted by observing the cut score to the corresponding % score in historical weeks, as long as we have similar players going. So, when we have big bye weeks, or when a popular high scoring player is out, you can't really use that week, but when we have all 32 teams playing healthy, it works within reason. This week's cut shouldn't be all that different than last week based on this theory, although once we hit the bye weeks, the cut number should drop a fair amount. I will agree that the extra spot this year, as well as the way we can make up our rosters has lead to dramatic scoring increases in general over last year. Myself, I chose a 2 QB 3 RB 11WR 2 TE 2 PK 2 D lineup, planning on going with quantity over quality at WR. I went with quality at all the rest of my positions, banking on Peyton "Ironman" Manning to hold up all year at QB. As long as I can get Bush to wake up (my most expensive player), and keep everyone else healthy, I feel pretty confident I'll live until week 10 crunch time.

Week 2 cut line was 128.30. Number 8500 roster last week was 137.00. With no byes and smaller number of live rosters, you'd think this week's cut line would be somewhere between 128.30 and 137.00 -- probably closer to 128.30 -- but it depends a lot on injuries and the overall level of scoring in week 3. I don't remember if anyone computed the "average" score each week, last year. I'd be interested in how much scoring has increased this year, if anyone has average or median scores for last year and this year. I agree that, compared to last year's starters and scoring, this year's scoring should be significantly higher -- maybe somewhere between 4% and 8% higher per week, on average?

This week MNF has a few potentially decent players that could push the number higher than last week. Guys to look out for are Brees, Bush, Coloston, and EJ. I'm really diggin my team here. Bears D might not work as well now that half their starters are hurt, but them with the Pitt D is working out nicely. Also, got 2 stud kickers, 3 TEs that have a nice rotation going and a bunch of cheap WRs putting up numbers. Still waiting for Peyton Manning and LT to come on strong, but their backups are doing well anyway.
