FBG Post NFL Draft Mock (1 Viewer)

Loser selects:2.09 - Curtis MartinOne of the most risk averse RBs left in the draft, I was only considering one other player at this juncture. Martin balances out the inherent risks that Holmes brings to the table, especially for the 2nd half of the season.Welcome to the team Curtis.

2.10 - Curtis Martin

Welcome to the team Curtis.
Good combo with LT. Nice pick!

I like how LHUCKS went with the safer pick, after the riskier pick of Holmes in the 1st. Along similar lines, I picked the pretty safe Alexander with my 1st, and with my 2nd, Ill be taking a real high reward guy, with some risk. At pick 2.10, I select Julius Jones.

Jones will be a major workhorse. I love what Dallas did with their defense in the draft, and in FA with Ferguson and Henry. Bledsoe has just enough cred left to keep defenses honest, and Julius just looked so damn good at times late last year, he is too hard to pass on here.

Jones is the other back I was considering when I took Rudi, great pick.

My 2nd round pick (2.11) is Brian WestbrookHe doesn't score alot of TD's but is a yardage monster. I think that along with this being a 1 point per reception league this guy is gold. I think he will be closer to top 10 then top 20. Forget about Buckhalter and Moats because Westbrook has proven he is the man.

With the 12th pick in the second round, I select: Fred Taylor, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars

PROS: He's stayed healthy the past few years, and has been pretty effective. Is a threat in both the running and receiving game. Still has the ability to make the big play.

CONS: Only two touchdowns last year, which has to be a concern. Still can't help but think he's a bit fragile.

CONCLUSION: A solid no. 2 back, and the Tomlinson/Taylor backfield should be productive.

With the 1st pick in the Third Round, I select: Tony Gonzalez, TE, KC

PROS: A tremendous weapon in TE required leagues, Gonzalez remains the elite option at the position. While he's being closely chased by Antonio Gates, TG has been doing it for years, and there's no reason to believe that he's going to slow down any time soon,

CONS: None, really. Could be a bit early for him, but neither he nor Gates would be here at 4.12.

OVERALL: None of the WR at this point excite me, and I think I can get good value there later. I also am not particularly enamored with the QBs, and am not much of a fan of taking one in the first three rounds.

With my 3rd round pick (3.2) I select Lamont Jordan.I have always like Jordan and thought whenever he got an opportunity to shine that he would. I think he walks into a perfect situation. With those WR's Jordan will have a wide open field to run. More importantly, I think with Moss being the featured addition it takes some pressure off Jordan. In any other year going to Oakland as a big time free agent RB and looked upon to be somewhat of a savior for a team that has has a terrible run game for years would be a mountain of pressure but with Moss there the pressure is somewhat off. Moss will get all the interviews and press coverage and stuff like that so Jordan can just come in and play. When I took Peyton Manning with the 2nd pick I knew I would get 2 of the 4 RB's I wanted. Westbrook was #1, Julius Jones was #2, Jordan was #3, and the 4th one is still out there so I will not say his name. I couldn't be happier with the way this draft has started.

I'm concerned about Taylor this year. He now has another knee injury and I have to wonder what impact that'll have on him when you consider the milege and previous injuries.

I wondered how long it would take before the 1st TE went. I love Gonzo and figure him to be the #1 this year. I don't like taking him this early but I think if you target him around 3rd/4th round, based on where you are drafting, you don't have much choice. Clearly he won't be there at your next pick.Nice pick!

Thanks bicycle seat sniffer (love that name by the way)With the 3.03 selection, I took Tory HoltI think Holt is the 3rd receiver behind TO and Moss, and would love to add him to Alexander and Julius. I feel very confident when I have Holt, that he will produce when its all said and done. The tds have gone up 2 straight years now, so I dont think that can be used as a knock on him anymore. Martz still being around is obviously a great thing for him too, and Bulger loves him. Expectations are anywhere between 1300-1400 yards, and 10-12 tds.

You're welcome, won my first title with that name, can't switch it now!

3.05 WR Chad Johnson CincyThis was a tough pick. I really wanted Mcnabb (nice pick), so after he was picked, I decided to go with a WR. Thought about going with another pick, since I already have Rudi Johnson in the same offense, but I really see the Bengals continuing to improve this year, especially on the offensive side.Plus, Chad Johnson won me over on "Teammates." Did anyone else see this?

3.06 Marvin HarrisonWell, the two guys I was eyeing up just went back-to-back. I really don't feel good about not having two RBs at this point, but with the way this draft has gone and due to my draft spot, the value just has not been there. With this being a redraft league and receiving 1 ppr, I believe Harrison represents good value at this spot. Put with T.O., I should easily be able to make up for any points I lose at the RB position.

Dang you jeter. I was hoping he'd fall to me. Nice pick!

3.7 Javon Walker-WR, PackersI'm making this pick with assumption that he will not hold out. This early there's no way to tell. If he doesn't hold out he's top 10 with top 5 upside. Not too bad. He's getting better each year and Favre has confidence in him.

WR#1 this year.

3.08 I select Hines Ward - WR - Pittsburgh Analysis: In a point per reception league, I now have two WR's who are capable of (and actually have in the past) reeled in 100+ catches in a season. This combined with my RB1 Ahman Green who is also efficient catching the ball gives me a nice trio of reception guys for this league. I still need a RB2, but the value isn't there right now compared to the production possibilities of a WR combo of Moss and Ward.

3.10 - Joe Horn, WR - NO.

Joe Horn continues to put up good numbers and still remain under the radar in most leagues. I am happy to have him at my wr #1. I do hate his coach, but Brooks seems to hit him early & often.

Question: Are we assuming that this is a normal league, in which you could trade players partway through the year if you drafted great value? Or is this keep and hold?

Quick clarification from Winston. I got the scoring and lineup rules. Was this meant to be a mock for a standard ff league where trading is allowed or is this more a survivor league with no trading? This could affect my next pick. I've been assuming the former.

I thinks it a normal league, only survivor dont allow trading. heck lets slap it in yahoo or something and see who does the best.
