I assume to win this thing you need to get to the big dance with roughly 6 or more players from both teams right? Assume you need both qbs, a rb from each, wr or two and tes from each. Toss in a kicker or defense and you have a shot to win it and of course hope for a shootout.
with the salaries as they were, it would be tough to get 6 from each team and still have enough to get there, and some of the 6 would be #2/3 RB and WR options.

Sorry that wasnt clear, I meant 6 combined in the finals. Having roughly 6+ players in the finals would be the key to success.

Last year I think the winner had 8 players in the SB (4 from each team). But the price structure this year probably makes that close to impossible.I'm willing to bet that someone can win this year with only 6 SB players, but they will of course need to be the correct 6 that have a great game.
I would have 9 total if my teams make it. I would say I have 5 of the top 6 from one team and 4 of the top 6 (but missing 2 of the top 4) from the other. But I squeaked by this week and only have 3 players alive not from my SB teams so it will be tough.

Oh. Then yes I would agree you need at least 6 good players in the finals.

Wow I survived by 10 and now I really like my chances with only my two DET players done. Can't wait for some sort of query tool to see how unique my GB/BLT squad looks. I suspect Pitta/Cobb plus the big guns gives me a shot at the $$$.

Feeling pretty good about my team. 118.4 points in week one and 13 of my original 14 players still alive. If NO/BAL make it to the SB I'll have 9 players going. Week 3 might be a problem if the Giants lose this week though.

Sounds good, but what about Championship week. Keep in mind:
In the first three rounds, ONLY YOUR TWO HIGHEST-SCORING PLAYERS FROM EACH NFL TEAM WILL COUNT TOWARD YOUR SCORE

That's where I messed up, probably.Best case scenario for me is Baltimore/Denver (I only say Denver because less people have Broncos, I won't have any on the team playing Baltimore) and NO/NY

Screwed up by not taking a Patriot, Packer, or Bronco. I think I have a pretty good chance of making it through to next week, but round 3 will be tough.

Looks like loading up on Houston may have been the unique play. I should have done that since that would have ensured a Bengals victory in round 1 :)

My cost/value based Baltimore/SF Superbowl matchup roster had enough extra firepower to get through wildcard weekend. But I also lost a few of my biggest week 1 guns. Shutting down the GB/NO/NE offensive juggernauts of this contest is now my biggest concern. If my picks ring true, I'll be down to just my SB teams after this Divisional Weekend. Riding out the "Defense Wins Championships" adage and hoping for the best.

Now looking at alot of entries and are owners hoping those that have 5 players from each SB team does not make final happens. Because there is alot of these entries out there with 2 per team that will knock alot of those loaded out. Or will a loaded team carry on and that will be the formula for success

Through week 1 with Balt-GB final but 11 guys from these 2 teams and only 3 others left(Twbow, Casey, Tate). This will be a tough week for sure. Wish I had not taken Matt Bryant and Jason Snelling in the end. Did not need to advance and wish the money was elsewhere. Probably my downfall unless Baltimore crushes Houston and GB lights up Giants for like a 45-10 demolition.

Can I take a mulligan on picking 2 backup Houston TEs? I guess they could help me advance next week, but my last move before the deadline was to turn Ryan Grant into Joel Dreessen. Oh well. I think I will have a chance if there is a GB/NE superbowl.

Pretty similar, I have 13 BAL/SF players, you have 12. I have a feeling it wouldve been smarter to go with Dickson and Pitta than both Team's Defense though. Unless either gets a return TD or a ton of TO's/sacks, a TE probably outscores them with just a few catches.I'll have 8 going this week so Im feeling good that I'll move on if SF and BALT win, but Im probably screwed for conference championship week unless NYG beats GB this week. Also, the thought just occurred to me that SF could beat the Saints this week, but If NE, GB, and/or NO's top 2 scorers have big weeks, I might not make the cut despite still having both of my SB teams alive

Obviously another Balt/NO guy. NO was a tough nut. The values are way overflated for Super Bowl production. Part of the price was the extra week, but that doesn't benefit you any more. had Brees in the lineup for the longest time but dumped him to get all four of the receiving threats except Moore. This week was the worst case scenario for that strategy as the scoring between all four was almost identical. Hoping it's more unbalanced in the next two weeks. Every Brees one point for Brees nets 3 pts for his WRs and 3.5 pts for Graham. With Ivory becoming a factor, I just avoided taking a chance at that trio.

This week will be the tough one for me after looking at the competition. I'm expecting about 40 pt each from both the Balt and NO group. Foster should net me 15 and Bradshaw/Jacobs another 10. That gets me to 105. Probably will need 120 to advance this week.

I loaded up on NE players hoping for them to make it to the Super Bowl. I still think loading up on one SB team may have been an underrated strategy this year given the inflated player values.

It's fairly incredible that one of the things you have to factor for in this contest is that folks won't read the rules. Sure, it helps eliminate some entries this week, but there are a ton of teams who took 2 guys from each team that have no chance to win but make the contest even harder for teams trying to.

Not overly optimistic I survive this week. I probably needed Det or ATL to at least win this past weekend to get me through this week though. I definitely need some Calvin-ish performances from Tebow, Grant and Vernon Davis!

Yeah, Im surprised I never thought about SF winning but not advancing in this because of minimal production from their players. You would have to expect the 3 aforementioned teams top 2 guys to outscore SF's, although I have a little buffer room since I'll have Meachem and Henderson for help.If 2 of Gore, Crabtree, Davis cant get us 49er entries 35+ points though, itll probably be tough to advance.

Interesting strategy that I never thought of. I dont see how you make the cut this week with Tebow, Grant, and VD as your only other players, but even if the Patsies do get to the SB, I think it would be hard for you to win unless they blew the other team out as somebody pretty much has to have the right combo of teams and at least 8 total players in the game.

Here's my NE/NO team. Wish I spent more time on it but totally forgot about it. Not too excited about my chances

This entry is still alive.

Not sure if 6 players in the SB will get the job done if I am able to advance that far. Seems like many have overloaded on NE and GB so my only hope, I guess, is that those teams get bounced this week or next due to the 2-player limit.

Definitely learned something this week about this contest.

This is the team that would have won, if there was a Cincy/Detroit Super Bowl :)

Going with the rarity here - NYG - HOU Super Bowl:

Finished in the Top 200 last week (meaningless, I know) with 200+ points and have 7 that will score this week. This week will be the big test, if NYG and HOU win this week only those people heavy into NE will be a threat. Best case scenario is 6 scoring players in week 20 (NYG, HOU, SF) which isn't a lot but it will be a unique enough group that I should easily get to SB Week if all three of those teams advance. Of course that's a pretty BIG "if."

You guy's saying you got 12, 14, 16 players left and feeling confident need to

remember only 2 guys from each team can score for you each week until Superbowl.

People with 6 guys from one team are going to be very lucky to make it each round.

(as only 2 scoring you'll need the others to really step up to keep up)

I lost 4 in the first round, advanced but only have 3 guy's on any 1 team, the next

round I and many others should have solid points, and the guy's who loaded up might

be in serious trouble.

Yah I know the strategy limp to the Superbowl then have your studs, but a strategy to

just get there will knock a lot of the guy's who loaded up out of it, so it may not be

you need a ton of guys in it to win it. (QB each team, WR and RB may able to do it here)

We'll see next week how the trend goes.. :)

This is why I picked just one guy from a couple of teams I thought would at least advance passed the WC/Div round. Next week I have 14 of 16 going, but I'm represented by at least one guy from 6 of the 8 teams playing. And 3 are QBs. I like my chances so long as my Superbowl teams dont get knocked out.

Yes, we understand that but in this contest you need to take chances and some of the teams that loaded up on two teams will make it through. IMO With only 3 players from each SB team you will have zero chance to win because there will certainly be some teams still alive with the same 6 players plus a few more.

I believe 6 guys total in the Superbowl will give you a "chance".

As I think getting there will take out those guys who loaded up an

went all in with there Superbowl picks this year. (could be wrong)

But that was my strategy. :) It'll be interesting next week though.

You'll be surprised what kind of teams weasel through. With so many entries you'll get the guy who spent low on, say D Thomas and Decker of the Broncos and then have a couple other guys give him a lift later and boom -he's in the finals with 9 or 10 Super Bowl guys. I thought 10 was enough for my combo but was clearly wrong it looks like.-QG
