Girl/dating threads used to be a hot topic here like 8-10 years ago.  Otis had some incredibly epic threads that drew plenty of attention.  My train wreck girl threads certainly brought a lot of negativity but still some plentiful and interesting banter.  No.16 followed that up nicely.  But, aside from AZ_Ron's thread (which, let's face it, none of us can really relate to) this entire aspect of the FFA is gone and hasn't been successfully replaced (I mean, Eminence can't even accidentally get laid and would instead rather talk about bitcoins).  

Speaking personally, it's crazy to think that it's been almost ten years since the ex and I haven't had really any sort of interesting thing to say on the topic or some story of my stupidity or some girl's craziness in nearly five years.  Others have been the same.  Statistically speaking, we're probably waiting another five years minimum for this subset of FFA contributors to start going through divorces and, let's be honest, those threads are far more depressing and less interesting than some knucklehead 22 year old chronicling his adventures and stumbles with much more attractive younger women than the majority of poster's will ever be able to get again.  

So, alas, we're relegated to topics regarding TV shows, politics, and, for ####'s sake, lawn maintenance.  On the bright side, my FF football teams have been killing it the last few years because I've actually been using this website for its intended purpose rather than for my own personal diary, and I imagine others are doing the same, but, let's face it, we're more boring now and there's no new crop to fill the void.

How come you don't have stories like those anymore?

 
The politics stuff is terrible during every presidential election year. This year is no worse than 2012 or 2008.

25 threads on the first page really blows. 

 
I haven't read this whole thread, so I apologize if somebody already mentioned this. But the reason the FFA is dying is because people are posting in it way too much. Every time I open a thread, there are like seven pages worth of posts since the last time I logged in. I'm not reading all of that crap.

I get your point. It's a quality over quantity thing.

Those 7 pages would be "like three pages worth" on the previous version of this board. Sometimes progress isn't progress at all but a step or two backwards....which we have here today.

 
And it's quite clear that there is a lot less traffic nowadays. Not at all sure that the good folks around here are posting more.....but maybe you know something I do not.

 
It is really all my fault.  It is kind of like our high school tennis team.  As a freshman, when I was one of the worst players, our team was 2nd in the state.  The next few years the team became worse and worse until my senior year when I had become the #1 player and we were barely mediocre.  Could not get out of sectionals.  So I take the blame here folks.  My bad.

listen fellow bromericans what i know is this we went from 45 to 49 members after i started the neat of the day thread and i am asking you all to put some neat stuff in there i told you about cheese chases and margarita blasters and rustic patio furniture and a smoker for the rest of us and if we want to hit the big 50 it is going to take all of us the only thing we have to fear is fear itself so tear down this wall and lets make it happen swc over and out take that to the bank

Sorry, I know this isn't the popular response with the head honchos, and while all the other reasons in this thread have some validity, the only major dropoff I've seriously noticed was after the board upgrade. As far as what Maurile said, the only threads I've noticed like that with a lot of new posts in small time periods have been political and board upgrade threads. And if the thread isn't something I've posted in, I don't really notice or care anyway. At the end of the day, Joe & Co. need to take a look at how badly they want to retain this boards remaining membership, or if Joe just wants to focus on selling his boats.

 
Someone's already commented that a 12-page thread and "death spiral" are concomitantly ironic concepts, right?  Sorry if honda.  :deathspiraldiscussionagain:

That does make sense from the standpoint of often linking to news stories emanating from the Baltimore area and running with articles from Breitbart and Daily Caller. Not 100% convinced but that is more believable than the other names that have been thrown out there (Bueno, MasterOfOrion/Golddiger, LHUCKS, etc.).

Not because there were less posts, but because you got more posts per page.

 
there is lady at the lunch counter around my neck o the woods that calls it general tay zo and will correct you if you try to say it the right way it sort of makes my day because hell yeah thats why take that to the bank bromigos

Was that also confirmed by the two mods in the test forum who said Tone and I were the same person?

Considering that Higgs has admitted on numerous occasions that he indeed was General Tso, your track record at identifying alias accounts leaves something to be desired.
