Fixed my mower. Possibly for good. (1 Viewer)

I have .6 acres. Can I keep 2 goats outside all year or will people on GoatGuys.com yell at me?

Why no love? I think I've done pretty good "fixing" the mower so far. I've taken pieces off it and put it back on. I have an understanding of what certain parts do. Sure, I didn't fix it. But I think my knowledge of motors has increased greatly. And knowledge is power. Now, that's something you can take to the bank, brohan. Also, I saw what you said about the Redskins. Tried to see if I was reading your posts, I think.

The shorter they are the easier it is. This was a good one

Agree to disagree, GB.

Got home last night and the mower was gone. :( Neighbor had already picked it up and taken it into his work garage.

Worst part is she asked him when he would look at it and he said he was very busy but would look at it first chance he got. I knew this would happen. The guy is a really nice guy. Probably about 55-60 years old. Will talk your ear off if he sees you. But he is an honest to goodness great neighbor. Kind hearted. But I know that this is low on his list and either I'll have to remind him about it in a week or I'll end up having to go buy a new mower anyhow.

I can't believe she let him kidnap your mower like that.

I was devastated. In my mind, I was going to get it working on my last ditch effort. It's like planning for the Hail Mary with your team down by 4, setting up your play, and having the clock run out before you can get the snap off. In your mind, that play was GOING to work.

You were just this close to having that thing going I have no doubt. Stupid nice neighbor.

You need to have a talk with your woman....going behind your back and doubting your man-skills is unacceptable.

Considering I broke a mower changing the blade, I'm pretty sure she has good reason to doubt my man-skills. I'll give her a pass. On this one.

I'm not the handiest person in the world either but I've fixed quite a few things in my house (washer, dryer, fridge, electrical stuff, plumbing issues) by googling and youtubing. I get a lot of satisfaction by fixing things and my wife knows it. I would be fuming if she gave my mower to a neighbor without first checking with me.

As I've said, I'm not handy at all. And I had mentioned to her that if she sees him out, to ask him if he wouldn't mind taking a look at it. I've just recently begun trying to fix things and I'll admit, it's quite fun. Never thought I'd be a guy who enjoyed Lowe's, but now I love going there. And I'm usually thinking things like, "Damn. I could use a post digger." I'm sure I'd never buy half the crap that I wish I could. Although I still manage to buy a bunch of stuff there still.

But in this case, I had pretty much run my course of attempting to fix it. I'm happy with what I learned, and I come away with a lot more knowledge. But it was time to admit defeat on this one. To paraphrase Kenny, you gotta know when to fold 'em. She didn't do it behind my back. She did it because I asked. I just thought I was going to have one more shot at it. Just didn't turn out that way. Not a big deal. I just want to mow the damn lawn again with my fresh new blade. :hot:

Why would my GF be on this site?
This is kind of one of my life's goals. Keep the wife off FBG. I make sure to close this site like I would any site with questionable content. In this site were ever discovered, and she figured out who I was, I'd never hear the end of it. I've posted everything from my ex stripper girlfriend woes to my overly opinionated views on most everything. She'd figure out just how crazy I am.

[in case you read this - love you honey - Everything on here is made up and/or embellished]

Ok for some reason I thought that you were still planning to make a few more attempts based on the advice you've received in this thread. I didn't realize you were done.

I was saying that I was going to keep working up until the time he came to take it away. Unfortunately, my estimate for him to take it away was very wrong.

Well what do you want to do? I get the feeling that you want to make one more attempt. Why not just be honest with your neighbor and tell him that you want to give it another shot. He seems like a nice guy and he's really busy anyways. Also, it's your mower so you always have that going for you

Possession is 9/10ths of the law...It's his mower now. If Sheik wants to borrow it, he's going to have to offer up the GF.

My wife kind of knows about the site. Not sure she knows the actual name of it but she knows I hang out on a football site. I tell her about some of the silliness here. Then she rags me for bagging on her about Facebook. I still maintain there is a difference.

That's how my wife knows it..."The guys on the football board." I never use the actual name. She's shocked at how functional it is. She made fun of me and my "internet friends" until she really wanted this one sink faucet that they only sold at Menards (not on the East Coast). I made one post and I had someone willing to buy and ship to me within like an hour. (Thanks again parasaurolophus!)

While my wife has never posted here she has talked to some folks from here. I won't be outing anyone but they were going through some stuff she has gone through so I put them in touch. It seemed to work out ok and she still doesn't seem to have any interest in actually being here.

I'd never let my wife talk to you fools.

j/k...but seriously, that's pretty awesome of her, and brave of you.
