Footballguys 2006 Strategy Guide (1 Viewer)

Thanks Team Dingo. The printer is from the Midwest so I guess certain stores have already gotten them. They are not suppose to put them out until June 29th. We should have today or tomorrow in California. My parents have done everything we can to get all the envelopes ready to go out (once we have the magazines). This should go pretty quickly. I suspect that we will be mailing all the orders to date around Wednesday (if we get the magazine today or tomorrow morning).

For those who want to use a credit card and not PayPal - follow these instructions. Thanks to Clayton Gray for explaining this payment method

It is possible to do pay by credit card if the credit card you are looking to pay with is not set up as a funding source through PayPal.

To do that, once you click the "Proceed To Checkout" button to go to the payment screen, don't log in to PayPal there but click the button in the center of the screen marked "If you do not currently have a PayPal account, Click Here". At that point, you will be allowed to enter a credit card for payment. This will work as long as the credit card number is not a card that PayPal is aware of (i.e.., it's not listed as a funding source for a primary account).

I did this and it worked fine!

I didn't post to cause you any grief, and I hope it doesn't. I just thought that it was noteworthy that it was on the shelves in some places already. My wife used to work in a bookstore , and as some have already stated, unless it's the new Harry Potter book they pretty much put the stuff on the shelf as soon as they get it instead of waiting for the date they are supposed to put stuff on the shelf.

Sorry, i asked this once but didn't get an answer...

is Pay Pal the only method of payment available? Sending a check no good?
You can use a credit card.
I'm in the same boat - I'd like to pay with a credit card. How is this done?
paypal lets you pay using your own credit card, w/o actually signing up for paypal. Just go through the link in first post.

Let me get this straight. I go to the trouble of ordering the mag ONLINE to be sure and get one before all the stores or anyone else, and people in the Midwest have theirs already? WTF!!! :hot: I am not a happy camper :hot:

Could somebody with the FBG's staff explain this?

Does anyone else feel a little used?

Used?Uhhhh, no. As was explained by staff above, bookstores near the mag printer received their copies first and put them on the shelves before they were supposed to. Should online orderers have received their mags before bookstores? Probably, and I suspect that will be the case next year, if possible.

But, online ordering has several advantages, such as Golden Ticket, and convenience, that certainly outweigh some St. Paul fantasy junkies getting a 72 hour head start on their pre training camp mag reading.

Settle down folks. It's a magazine, not the Ark of the Covenant.

The major complaint here would be the $8.99 paid instead of the cover price of $6.99 with the promise that we would get them 2 weeks before they hit the store shelves. (of course you wouldn't complain if you won something) Following the time line Maplewood has them on June 10, Denver should be today (I'll audit Barnes and Noble's stocking policy with regard to display date), and California on Wednsday plus mail time.I'm sure it's not FBGs fault, and 2 bucks doesn't mean anything to me, but I can definately see why some people would feel jipped.

for what its worth its probably isolated cases of stores just putting them out when they receive them rather than on the posted date.
That's the whole point. The stores shouldn't have them at all. The numeber 1 selling point for ordering online line was: " recieving yours 10 TO 14 DAYS BEFORE THE STORES OR ANYONE ELSE". That was suppose to be the extra value.

Granted it's only 2 more bucks, but my money is hard earned and when I spend it on FF I would like to get what I ordered, as advertised. :hot:

The mags should have been sent to the online folks FIRST, as advertised. Then to the stores.

Somebody dropped the ball here.

So when are we getting ours?
:goodposting: Maybe before the season starts?
I tend to agree with Defenze. It may only be two dollars and we have the "possibility" of a golden ticket, but there seems to be some misleading during the promotion of this mag and why we should by early. Now, it seems that we paid two dollars extra just to enter a raffle for a golden ticket and get our magazine later.I have the utmost respect for the FBG staff, but there is no denying that this isn't going to sit well with a lot of people.

I might feel slighted if I lived in the area where they popped up and I had ordered online, but I don't,so i won't,and knowing what happened I certainly would not blame FBG for the mix-up,but I would understand if FBG got upset with whoever was responsible. Either way the sun will come up tomorrow and I'm betting by the weekend I'll have mine and I won't even have to get dressed to go get it. :banned:

They're all over the place (well at least 3 different places) here in Milwaukee. I think it's common knowledge book/magazine places don't adhere to "do not display until" warnings.

Still waiting for the upshot.

[The link above is how you can get the magazine 10 to 14 days early while gaining a lot of extra value by purchasing directly from us

:hot: :hot: :hot: The magazine people are telling us they are trying to figure out they got in a couple of stores. They refused to believe us at first but do now. The dates they are supposed to be in the stores is July 1. I wish I could control the store, but I can't.

And if that wasn't enough get this - I'm going to put my money where my mouth is. If you buy the 2006 Footballguys Strategy Guide from us online and after reading it don't agree it's a great value, you can return it to me with your receipt for purchasing online and I'll refund the $8.99 you paid for it. No questions asked. If you're worried that you can't open the magazine online and look through it like you can in a bookstore, then relax. I'll let you return the mag and you get your money back. We wanted to make it the most attractive magazine offer in the country and if you're remotely interested in Fantasy Football, we think we succeeded. Details for ordering are here http://www.footballguys.com/06magazinepreorder.php

***********************************************

Again, we apologize if a store owner has placed the magazine out earlier than he was told to.

If anyone feels the magazine they ordered online wasn't a good deal, feel free to return it to me with your online receipt and I'll refund your money.

J

Thanks for the reply Joe. As I have said many times in the past, you guys do a great job with everything at FBG.

Returning my magazine to you is an option. I will of course wait to see if my copy has any "goodies" inside before I mail it back and buy one off the stand at a cheaper price.

I am sure the was no intent to be dishonest or do anybody wrong.

Maybe next year you could avoid this prob by mailing all online copies first then disturbing them to the outlets. Like you advertised.

You're also having it delivered to your door for that extra $2. I really can't fathom why anyone would complain that some stranger has teh magazine a couple of days before them. What's the difference?

We'll I've already decided. You can't have my mag back, once it's in my mailbox.golden ticket or not,it's mine! Not to hijack Joe,I noticed the 10% off FJ Fantasy Draft Boards, does this mean FBG won't have their draft board available this year? Just curious.

In my opinion, it was just an honest mistake and it certainly was not malicious nor intentional. In fact, it wasn't even their fault. Cut em some slack. Mistakes happen from time to time. Of course I'd like my magazine sooner, but that's just a result of the quality product that the FBG staff put out from time to time. I've only been a subscriber and a lurker on these boards for the past year, and I've always seen this site run with a lot of integrity. If you've read anything in this thread, these guys have done everything to bend over backwards for their customers just to make them happy.

(No, I am not being paid to write this, I'm just a very thankful and a very loyal customer. I do make it a point to try to applaud businesses that look out in the best interests of their customers)

Well said. I don't see that it really matters. There is still a week or more before the original suggested delivery date is due. I think the criticism is unwarranted.

The actual value of the annual subscription must be three or four times the pittance we are charged. The site gives great value. Compare this magazine to the other products available and then talk about value.

So based on this we should expect the mag sometime between the 19th and 21st?Can't wait.

No really, I can't. I'm returning it for a full refund...

What's done is done. You can't put toothpaste back in the tube.

I have options I can excersise when my mag arrives.

1. Keep it and feel thankful that it arrived.

2. Send it back(as Joe suggested) and get my money refunded.

3. Send it back, wait for my money to be sent and then go to my local Walmart or Walgreens and buy one for 2 dollars cheaper than the one online. Sure it won't have all the goodies that the online mag would have (i.e. golden tickets, coupons etc.) but thats not why I'm buying the mag anyway.

I love the FBG site, message board and all I get with the subscription. The team does a good job with everything.

But with this one thing I feel, IMHO, they miss it. It happens.

But I don't feel I will order the mag next year online. I'm just one person. I'm not gonna make or break the sales on the mag.

Some of the posters on this message board could care less about getting the mag early. Good for them.

I on the other hand ordered the mag online specifically because I wanted it early. Before the stores, retailers and the like had theirs. Thats what I paid for. I'm not getting that. Spin it any way you want, the advertised item is still not in my mail box, yet everybody from Timbuck Two, to Maplewood MN, to Milwalkee are getting, for less, what I paid extra for.

I understand where Joe and the guys are coming from. "Things beyond their control". They don't control the stores or the people responsible for getting the mag out. Knowing that dosen't change things they way they are.

Joe has written on this message board his apology for how things happened. Apology accepted and I have ranted long enough. I will write no more on this subject.

You actually hooked Joe with your fishing, well done. Of course he really had no choice but to reply on the off chance you were actually serious

seriously, this is the site, and service for football and football related activities..

"i pledge allegiance to football guys, and discussion about FF and the NFL, and to the Free For All and for what it stands, one Football Nation, thank you David and Joe"

PS get my check yet???

So next time I am at the grocery store I am going to have to visit the magazine rack! :-)

Although, I look forward to getting my two copies in the mail.

joe or david any word on when they will be shipped?

Hi Cowboys,The delivery truck was in Reno this afternoon heading towards David. David has all the envelopes addressed and ready to go. All he needs is the magazine. Not sure if the truck made it today or if it'll be tomorrow. But either way, they're almost ready to roll your way. They're shipping US Priority Mail so they'll move along pretty fast.

I work for the USPS here in Orlando,I just put a call in to my bros in Reno, the FBG mag will receive priority-priority handling,if they get into the mailstream on Wednesday I'd bet they'll be in mailboxes all over the US starting on Thursday,I'd expect mine by Saturday for sure but Friday is a real possibility. Do not underestimate the power of a "motivated" Postal Worker. :banned:

 Many thanks for your insider help. Great job! Also, I would like to say that while I tend to agree with Defenze, I am very appreciative of the FBG staff and all they do. I look forward to this product, and most of my problem is just my competitive nature shining through. :boxing:

Long live FBG!

The call to expedite via UPS Reno isn't going to help us (not being shipped via UPS), but thanks for the thoughts. The Reno bound truck was already headed to Sacramento (which is even closer to me). It arrives in Sacramento late tonight and is expected to be offloaded around midnight.

The shipping company (based out of Green Bay) has already alerted Sacramento and we are working to expedite the scheduled Friday delivery time. We believe we will have the magazines in our hands by Wednesday night at the latest if everything goes as planned.

If the trucking company can not ship them on Wednesday, my dad and I will rent a Uhaul truck and pallet jack and go get them. Either way we fully expect to have the magazines in our hands late Wednesday.

But magazines in hand does not mean over 3,000 magazines will be shipped by Thursday morning. We have everything ready (all envelopes with address labels and stamps attached, stacks of insert fliers with training camp access code stickers on them, 54 random inserts, 12 golden tickets), but we still need to assemble things.

Even at about 20 seconds per magazine, stuffing 3,000 magazines is going to be a chore (about 20 hours worth). Then we have to drive these to the post office and mail them. I optimistically believe 90-95% of the orders received by last night will go out on Friday though. Another thing that could slow this process down is the post office's ability to process this many priority envelopes in a day (I live in a small town). They know these are coming, but doubtful they think we could get 2,000 to them in a day. They could be in for a surprise Thursday/Friday.

I will update this as I know more. I think people should plan on a Friday mailing date meaning most people will receive US orders by Wednesday or Thursday next week at the latest.

Next year, we have agreed to provide our own shipping directly from the printer. These were printed on the 3rd and should have already made it here in my opinion.

I live in Australia and ordered a copy, any idea how long it's going to take to get down here?

P.S-How many Aussies ordered copies?

I have no idea how long International Priority takes. They will be mailed at the same time.

Thanks for the detailed and timely response. I also commend you for your efforts to satisfy your consumers with outstanding service. Can't imagine sorting and stuffing and packaging 3,000 magazines in one day.Just a quick attaboy from a fan, who will have his magazine waiting for him upon his return to reality from vacation.

Thanks
