One year deal for Ruud. Lmao. Not a good player.
That's so cold! After 6 years of tackling 8 yards past the LOS! Give the playa his due. So, do you think Mason Foster is going to be able to hold down Ruud's old job? Potentially 4 rooks/2nd year guys on the line.
The worst part was listening to all the yokels yell Ruuuuuuuud as he was making a tackle 9 yards downfield. I like the Mason/McKenzie combo.

Vonta Leach signed with Ravens. - radio
impact here? seems like one of the last true fullbacks left
Hard to say. Houston has James Casey who is probably a better runner and LOT better receiver than Leach, but he wasn't as big. However I believe he's bulked up up by 10 lbs which I think puts him around 250 lbs which puts him only 5 lbs lighter than Leach, if not as stocky and compact.I think we might see Foster drop off some, though it might be as much from losing some touches to Casey as from what Leach brought to the blocking. I think the Texans O-line is still good if healthy, so I don't expect Foster to plummet.I'd be harder pressed to say how it will affect the Ravens. Not personally sure how much of an upgrade Leach is over McClain, but I'd probably bump up Ray Rice a bit until I heard otherwise.

1 year deals seem to be common this year, perhaps that has to do with a weakness teams has found in the CBA as much as the players signed.

I wonder if the Jones signing is in response to the Eagles improving their backfield. Eagles have 3 good db? We are going to run 4 good wr plus. Beat that.

The Eagles have three #1 CB's...that will shut down the Packers passing game. Plus Babin, Cole, Jenkins(remember him?), Brandon Graham will provide much more pass rush than last year. The Packers lost: Cullen Jenkins, Nick Barnett, Daryn Colledge, Brandon Jackson.

How exactly are the Packers going to "beat" what the Eagles did this offseason?

James jones back with pack on 3 yr dealPer incarceratedbob.
Tom Silverstein and Jason Wilde reported this too.
@incarceratedbob wasnt even close to the first person who has this, lolAll hthis guy does is repeats what is first reported, he prolly has a twiiter feed and sits there and tries to reports it as soon as he sees someone else report it. He has never been the first to report anything.BTW...Justin Blalock agrees to six year deal with Falcons.

QB Mark Brunell has re-signed with the Jets with one-year deal, per source. Team intended to bring him back at lesser salary

AdamSchefter Rumor has it the Lions signed Chris Houston to 2 year deal. Any truth? ... Truth. Houston back to Detroit.

They got 14 players back from injured reserve.

This has been overdone and some players never return from an injury that may seem small.

James Jones is Bryant Johnson II. Think teams saw that & weren't going to overpay for that. He is what is he is -- solid #3 WR.
I don't see that at all, but he didn't get what he wanted from other teams. He catches difficult throws then drops simple ones. He needs to slow down and make the catch before running 80 yards for an imaginary touchdown. He wants to be a starter and could do that soon in Green Bay.I just heard Quarles failed his physical with a hip problem and DJ Williams looks legit. Quarles may not make the team and Williams may backup Finley.

Arizona is trading RB Tim Hightower to Washington for a conditional late-round pick based on play time, along with DE Vonnie Holliday.

John ClaytonAs part of the Jets hectic pace on getting Antonio Cromartie under contract, they are calling around on trades to clear cap room.
I wonder who they are shopping.

Williams could play an Hback type as well.

Really, I wonder why they are shopping? They were front runners for Nnamdi, and missed. Why the cap room shuffle all of a sudden?

They just signed Plax, and I heard they withdrew from attempting any deal with Edwards.

But you know that they had a mega-millions deal on the table for Nnamdi, and were spurn. So, where are those same millions for Cro?

Plax isn't much IMO and isn't even close to replacing Edwards. Plus the Jets lost Brad Smith. I dunno, just an idea. I didn't figure Cromartie would cost them THAT much they would need to trade away pieces to obtain.

Rosario signs with Denver (pending physical).

TE Donte Rosario agrees with Broncos pending physical The Broncos do have an agreement in place with tight end Donte Rosario, pending a physical exam that he will take tonight per Mike Klis of the Denver Post. Rosario played the previous four seasons for Fox in Carolina.Rosario, 26, had a career-high 32 catches last year, 26 in 2009 and 18 in 2008. He has the athleticism at 6-4, 250 pounds to be more productive in the passing game, but Fox’s offense in the past was geared around receiver Steve Smith and the running game.

TE TODD HEAP SIGNS WITH AZ CARDINALS

from the Bird Blog

Heap agrees to two-year deal

Posted by Darren Urban on July 31, 2011 – 10:42 am

"The Cardinals have added yet another tight end. Veteran Todd Heap, a local product of Mesa Mountain View High School and Arizona State, who was released recently by Baltimore, has agreed to a two-year contract. Heap becomes the Cardinals’ sixth tight end joining Jim Dray, Stephen Spach, Jeff King, and rookies Rob Housler and Stephen Skelton. Obviously the Cardinals won’t need so many at the position. The Cardinals kept three tight ends last year, and after signing King as a main blocker, drafting Housler and adding Heap, it will be interesting to see it that’s how the position filters out or if the remaining guys can make a mark. The Cardinals have not used the tight end much as a receiver over the past few seasons, but bringing in Heap and Housler may underscore a shift in philosophy"

:excited: someone had a snide comment when I suggested this last week

As I told Ahmad Bradshaw here earlier: the jig is up. FA RB Jason Snelling headed here for a visit with the Giants, source says.

I hope it's not just to push Bradshaw to sign, Snelling could be the next Ward, and can play some FB.

How OLD is that? Didn't Snelling agree to terms with the Rams earlier this week?

They say money never sleeps. Rich Cimini got the deal. A. Cromartie stays with the Jets. He gets $32 million over four years.

No, he didn't. In the last 4-5 hours, Lombardi, Clayton and La Canfora all tweeted the Giants visit. Clayton said he's a fall back in case they don't sign Bradshaw.

John Clayton

For the moment, the Jets aren't in on Randy Moss. He's waiting out the market to see where to go next.

It was reported that they signed him and Dahl, but the Dahl deal was the only one confirmed at the time. Looks like he left without a contract.

Incarcerated Bob: Cardinals and VikIngs in a bidding war for Braylon. A few other teams involved too.
This is old news, can we stop listening to this dude?He just got Randy Moss wrong too, lol.People who report what he is saying when he is as wrong as often as he is, looks like as big of a fool as he does. :boxing:

Vonta Leach signed with Ravens. - radio
impact here? seems like one of the last true fullbacks left
impact? i'm not saying that Leach made Foster, but look at some game tape from last season. this is great news for Rice, since i always had the feeling that McClain wanted the ball for himself and not block for the HB.
Here are some Kubiak quotes from which people can take what they will.
(on TE James Casey’s opportunity) “First off, what we do is easy for James (Casey). There’s no overload when it comes to a mental deal. It’s going to be the physical part, naturally. There’s some things we can do with James that maybe we didn’t do with Vonta (Leach) from some of James’ strengths. We could be built a little different when it’s all said and done, but we don’t need to get in a hurry here. We need to give the young kids a chance and keep letting James work with what we do.”(on if he’s excited to do something different on offense with TE James Casey) “Well obviously your wheels start spinning because you could be a little bit different offensive football team, but yet teach the same schemes and those type of things. James (Casey) is very athletic. He’s a tight end with great hands, very athletic, smart, can handle a big load. He could give us some flexibility, but right now I want him to settle down, learn the position and we’ll go from there.” (on what TE James Casey has to prove as a blocker) “He’s got to step in there and do the things we ask him to do iso-wise. Our fullback probably straight-on iso’s 8-to-10 times a game and a lot of times, he’s on the backside cutting off doing those type of things, so that will be a big factor in James’ (Casey) development. But at the same time, we have to be smart as coaches and know what James could give us in some other areas. It’s kind of give-and-take.”
