I'm glad to see the Hound stick around. I thought he was a goner. As bad as as he is, he has some good in him and I hope we get to see more of it.I'm not liking the insinuations made toward Jorah Mormont by the old dude whose name I cant remember. I've really liked this character and fear he will be usurped by the old dude and lose Dany's trust.Jaime was amazing tonight. The bath scene was as good as it gets.

Remember, he was spying on her. I am not sure if he had direct knowledge of the assasination attempt and had a change of heart at the last moment or just was suspicious but either way- his history has reason for her not to trust him. That was what that whole scene was about because until now there was no one in contact with Dany that had knowledge of Jorah's less than pure history concerning her. (other than that masked witch chick)

Can you put some proper nouns in place of the pro nouns? I am lost and must have missed the less than pure history part. Sir Barriston Selmy was spying on Dany, I got that part....after that, you lost me.

Mormont was spying on Dany - Mormont was working to become un-exiled and allowed back into Westeros

That was discussed on the show, right? Mormont was exiled for slave trading....but Robert or Varys mentioned him spying for them wanted to be un-exiled....then he fell in love with Dany. Selmy isn't really "insinuating" anything about Jorah Mormont, he's just stating a fact about his reputation being tarnished in Westeros. He got in trouble for selling some poachers into slavery, then ran rather than face his punishment, which would have been beheading at Ned Stark's hand. People didn't think really highly of that.

True. He does have a rather unseemly past, but it appears he's come around and seems loyal to her...or maybe it's just because he's in love with her.I dig the character though and would love to see him in combat. My guess is that he can kick some serious ###. Hoping he doesn't turn out to be a giant tool.

Remember, Jorah handled that Dothraki guy pretty handily when Dany was going into labor. So, he's got game.

No, partly it is because she wishes to rule Westeros which doesn't allow slaves and partly because she feels that she had been sold by her brother and Illyrio to Drogo.

The Jamie / Brienne conversation was the best of the show last night IMO, but I missed a piece of it. I couldn't really hear what was said right before she got pissed and sprang out of the water. What was that about? I know he ended with a background on the killing of the Mad King (which was great), but what happened right before that?

I'm enjoying the show but it just doesn't touch the books as far as surprises and build up go. This scene though is one if my faves from the book and they nailed it. Also the closing scene with the lanisters was awesome. You have that brief feeling if sympathy for Cersei after despising her for wearing that smirk.

No, partly it is because she wishes to rule Westeros which doesn't allow slaves and partly because she feels that she had been sold by her brother and Illyrio to Drogo.

At this point, her Unsullied soldiers are pretty much sellswords and not slaves so that won't conflict with Westerosi ideals. She must have been educated about political mariages as well, so she probably understands her role with Drogo. It just seems that her stubborn intolerance of slavery comes from a pretty deep place.

I just re-watched it with subtitles and there are definitely a few things I missed the first time. I might give it a shot going ahead. I remember doing the same with the UK version of The Office and it helped pick up some missed jokes.

Being a slave is something she can relate to, and it is much more fitting for a queen to rule with the love and respect of her people instead of fear and complusion.

Littlefinger's goal has been assuming more power, mostly behind the scenes power. I deleted what I just wrote because I am not positive it's the stated reason for going to the Aerie, where Cat's crazy ### sister Lyssa now rules after her husband's death in ep1, with her little creepy special needs child with a gargantuan mother complex is the heir. Here it is in spoilers, without any book knowledge but with a question on whether or not the show actually suggested he go that far, and even if you're incredibly sensitive about spoilers, it's completely inconsequential, imo:

Isn't he going there under "orders" from Tywin or Cersei to marry Lyssa and therefore gain the lands and soldiers of The Vale under Littlefinger, and therefore nominally allied with the Lannisters. Maybe he's there to do it without the marriage because the Tyrells were talking about him using Sansa to gain the north, but then again they don't know exactly what Littlefinger's orders are either.

That's her last name. her husband was Jon Aeryn (who was much older and had Ned & Robert as his proxy sons, kind of like Theon). He was the hand that died at the beginning of the series while investigating Joffrey's lineage/Robert's bastards that made Robert seek out Ned to be his new Hand and setting all this crap in motion.

think the entire point of the explanation of the Kingslayer seen is about how ambiguous he "unseemly" past is. The mad king thing I can buy, but he pushed Bran out the window and casually chuckled "the things I do for love" before calmly waltzing back inside his sister.

The thing is, though, that he really did do it for love.

It was a terrible thing to do, but plenty of characters have done terrible things for much worse reasons than that.

My guess is this will be a big plot development week. The Lanisters find out about Jamie, Rob works a deal with Frey, Aria takes a step closer to getting back to her family, Lanister/Tyrell plot thickens.... Lots of things to set up for the last few episodes.
