Game Thread W10 - Green Bay V Minnesota (1 Viewer)

thank you GB for playing for the FG from the 40 :censored:

this game had some of the worst coaching i'd ever seen

Why the hell is the end of this game not on Fox? I've got post game interviews and recaps when a divisional game is a 1 point game with 3 minutes left?

Adrian takes the league in rushing yardage and the Vikings tie for the lead in the division!

I can claim superiority in my family for a bit!! My Vikes win, my wife's da Bears lose, and most of the in-laws' Packers lose!!! :D

just awful.
:headbang: McCarthy screwed the pooch big time here.Nice win Viks.
I don't understand this thinking. Rodgers was getting pummeled all game. They showed they could run the ball. And with Crosby's leg as strong as it is, I think it was the correct play calling on that drive. He calls a pass, Rodgers gets sacked, all of a sudden they are out of range. And you guys are blaming McCarthy for not running. There's plenty to blame McCarthy about in this game, but that last drive is not one of them.

:excited: I have had it too with the penalites. It is time for McCarthy to step up. That challenge was a joke too.
The penalties are what cost us the game.
The penalies were one of the reasons the Packers lost. McCarthy having his head up his rear end on the final drive also played a part.

That and the matador like performance from the Oline.

A terrible offensive performance didn't help either. If not for Frerotte thinking that his WRs were wearing green and gold, the penalties wouldn't have mattered. :headbang:That about how I thought Week 1 would go...it coming down to a couple of plays at the end of the game, with Rodgers doing his best rag-doll impression. MAN Rodgers took a beating this afternoon...

Once again there was nothing wrong with that last drive. See my post above.

The Vikings were so close to losing that game. No prayer at competing down the stretch if they can't fix special teams and all the turnovers. That defensive line is just sickening now...best run game in the biz but you can't keep it close every game man, that's a recipe for 8-8.

You may want to watch other teams in that situation. Very rarely do you see a team settle for having a 50+ yard FG to win the game.

Have you finished your move to Minn?
Sorta. Loaded up the UHaul and headed out almost a month ago, flew back this week to finish up my house (perfect timing too, it snowed there on Friday lol). Re-doing the bathrooms today. Relying on a neighbor's weak-azzed wifi signal that dies about every 34 seconds. :wall: Thank y'all for "watching" the game with me today. :D
53 yard FG is a pretty difficult kick if your name isn't Longwell.
Yeah, good kicker. Wonder whatever happened to him.

1-10 MN 40: Run, Run, Quick out, and now you're on the MN 37...I don't care how good Crosby's leg is, you have to try and get closer than a 50+ yarder.

I don't dispute that, but who cares what other teams do? Game situations are what dictate how you call the plays. The Vikings D-Line was killing the pass all game long. But the Packers showed they could run the ball. I think that coupled with Crosby's leg was the way to go.

I am also in disagreement with you.You can't settle for a 50 yarder in that situation IMO.

They did try, by running and the way this game was going, I don't have a problem with that.Is everyone forgetting what the Vikes D was doing to the Packer OL all game long in passing situations? :lmao:

I don't believe they "settled" for a 50 yd field goal, but even so that's good from 60. He just pushed it.

I think they did.And its good if its a bit shorter as it does not have time to fade enough to the right.I don't like 2 runs when you need a few more yards IMO.Yes, the line has sucked...max protect if you have to rather than going 5 wide. But try a pass there rather than 2 runs IMO.

The Vikings did what they had to do today and could be considered the favorite to win the division now. Good win for them. Only two things can stop the Vikings from being a serious playoff favorite however, their coach and their quarterback. Still, someone from this sorry division will be crowned winner. The Packers have to many issues on run defense and their o-line so I'm not sure if things will improve enough for them to win the division. The Bears don't seem to want the division either and the Lions are more of a Div II team than an NFL team.

I see your point, but I still would have tried once to throw the ball at least 10 yards down the field. My beef with McCarthy this year has been getting too conservative too often, and I think he did it again. Either way, the Packers were lucky to even be in this game.

Why are they the favorite to win the division now?Id say Chicago is at this point.Chicago lost a tough game to an undfeated team.

Where is the genius that said last week that AP is all 3 yard runs and that Chester is better?
I think he's working for Yahoo Sports now. Late in the game, with AP > 150yds, Chester was listed as a "game leader" with 10 rushes for 29yds on the GameChannel screen.
Good luck up North. I cant imagine leaving this weather for the cold.
Thanks. The wife is originally from WI, and she never really liked the weather here. She likes four seasons, greenery instead of brown, etc. I have to admit, seeing the fall colors the past couple weeks was purty cool. :D Plus, much of her family and old friends are up there, so I think she's a lot happier these days.

:D They needed to take at least one shot on 1st or 2nd down to get the ball at least 10+ yards downfield.

I don't necessarily disagree with a pass, but I have no problem with what they did, considering the way the OL was playing all day.We need to ramp up now for Duh Bearsssssss

What about what they did to the run? I actually think Grant did well this game. However, Vikes are much much more susceptible to the pass. And really you should shoot for about the 25 yard line with that much time left. After the Driver play one can't expect Crosby to be that money - it's just not fair. That's a tough tough kick even for one of the best. The Vikes were on their heels after that lucky catch - take advantage. You be okay risking a sack in that situation. Just way too much to lose by not.

Good Luck to you guys against Da Bears. Hopefully you get to play against Throwainterceptionous Rex.
